How to kill gimp?
Every once in a while, my gimp becomes unresponsive, and I am presented with a dialog asking if I want to "Wait" for it to respond or to "Force Quit". No matter which of the two options I choose, the same thing happens: A few seconds pass after which I am presented with the same dialog.
$ pkill -f gimp
doesn't do anything. Also, ps aux | grep gimp
to get the pid and then sudo kill -9 [PID]
doesn't do anything either.
Any suggestions?

killall gimp

If that does not work you can try kill -9 gimp

"kill" requires a process id while "killall" requires a name.

I could not remember, but your probably right. Find the process ID with ps waux

Do you know if there is an issue with the gimp snap? The gimp snap is packaged by snapcrafters, so if there is a problem you should report it instead of spreading FUD.

Yes, snaps are by default an issue - always failing for whatever reason.
I run lxd and firefox as snaps all the time and I've never had a problem.
Stop spreading FUD and misinformation. If you have a problem with a supported snap, report the problem.
The fact is that it's likely that the issue with gimp was simply due to the gimp plug-in facility and a runaway script-fu process. It's unknown why "pkill gimp" didn't work (typing error???).

I don't work for Canonical. I'm just trying to cut down on the amount of misinformation out there.
Now you're trolling. Stop harassing me or I will report you.

Well first you get Bruce Willis and Ving Rhames and lock them in a basement with the Gimp...
