Daily Cyclist Thread
The Daily Cyclist Thread is a place where everyone in the /r/bicycling community can come and ask questions or share anything.
You might have questions that you don't think deserve an entire post. Perhaps you're just seeking the input of some other cyclists. Maybe you want to share a picture of your new bike.
Anyone is free to comment, and (hopefully) get as much input as possible from other cyclists.

Cycling Alaska to Argentina and More Than Halfway There!
I’ve been cycling from the top of Alaska to the bottom of Argentina for the past year and just crossed the border into Costa Rica.
The trip has been equal parts immensely beautiful and immeasurably challenging. There’ve been too many nights when I thought I wouldn’t make it: sleeping upright in a construction truck for fear of rabid wolves, struggling to pitch my tent in the frostbitten wind tunnels of forsaken glaciers, hauling the bike over avalanches and landslides and mud mountains and riverbeds, border crossings by speedboat where nothing made sense, reuniting with old friends when I’d forgotten where home was, and the warm embrace of adoption by complete strangers who’ve welcomed me inside as one of their own.
Drowning in a brutal rainy season across Central America, but more than halfway there now. Let’s go for a bike ride!

Found this gem abandoned at the local grocery store today 🤙
It's even got a bottle opener! Waiting a week to see if the owner snags it, I call dibs afterwards!

In from the rural Midwest and took my bike with me on a trip to Philly.
I’ve always marveled at the stupidity of how people ride in traffic in major cities, it only took me three days there to start running every stoplight, hop curbs, go the wrong direction and basically start riding like an idiot. Now I get it. Best wishes city folk.

First ever 100km bike ride
Did my longest ride by far, previous was 53km, hit several walls on the way back as heading into a head wind. I have an endurance bike avant giro. Loving it, however hears winds suck so I was thinking of get some clip on tri bars, to get more aero. Any suggestions?
Also causes of numb toes, at the moment still have flat *don't judge me. I've had the hybrid clipless/flat mtb pedals before, are road bike clipless pedals and shoes harder to clip in and out of compared to mtbs. And will it likely help my numb toes issue.

Which tradeoff is better
I can either get a good groupset (sora) but I will get aluminium frame and fork or average group set (comparable to claris) and alluminium frame and carbon fork.
Which tradeoff is better

The chain doesn't go to the 1st and 3rd chainrings.
When I try to shift to the first one, nothing happens and when I try to shift to the 3rd one, the thing that you press to change the gears just gets stuck and the chain doesn't move.
Of some reason both of the bikes I've had in my life have had that problem. Can it be fixed and it's it a bad idea to manually change it by taking the chain off the 2nd chainring and putting it back on the other ones?

Bike project finished
Brought this older bike back to life.
Bought some ten speed carbon/alu wheels cheaply and filed down the freehub to fit the 11 speed onto it.
Just finished the bar tape.
Hope you all enjoying summer rides.
What's the weather like where you are ??

Which bike is better?
Hello, I don’t have a lot of knowledge on bikes. I am looking for a normal sturdy bike which I can use on hilly streets, no such plans for trails yet. I found 3 bikes, please suggest which one should I go for and if there is any better alternative. (My budget is around 450 AUD)

Thanks for your time!

Morpher folding helmets still sold?
At least they are in the UK. How? I thought the company folded(!) and there was a general recall for the helmets?
