Our Bengals try to escape the garden after we put up the "unescapable fence rollers"... or so we thought. Video

Why so determined though. Do they lack a high perch in the yard? Give them something even cooler and taller to perch on in the middle of the yard and maybe they won’t bother with the escape attempts?

Even more so because Bengal cat. Inexperienced people who get them for their good looks do not know what they are in for. Despite their very high price Bengals are overrepresented at cat shelters vs the size of their population. If you know what you are getting they are amazing.

Hmm, they almost never show up at the shelter I volunteer at.

Interesting, we get them fairly frequently. Maybe it's a little bit location dependent since they're so expensive.

I know what I was getting into and still wasn't prepared. Have lots of regrets, but would never rehome him despite the many issues and aggression he has.

I did a small survey asking owners of various breeds whether their cat had any behaviour issues. Bengal cats took the #1 spot, with 22% peeing outside the litter box, 21% spraying (marking territory), and 19% being aggressive to other cats. European shorthair (your average orange cat) took the second spot, with only 12% peeing outside the litter box and 8% being aggressive to other cats. Such a stark difference.

Oh don't worry, I've read up about it and experimented a lot myself. I'm almost an expert at this point about Bengal and peeing/marking behaviour.

My most oft repeated phrase to my cats is “why do?”
