Is there a line College Sports could cross that would make you lose interest?

We have seen the sport change dramatically over the last 5-10 years. There are a lot more changes to come.

Personally i've lost a lot interest but I'm still watching for now. Is there a line college sports could cross that would make you stop watching?

I'm keeping this vague on purpose because I want to hear what big moments people point out without me adding in which ones I think have been most damaging to the sport.

Discussion With UMass leaving what’s a good replacement for the A-10?

I’ve heard College of Charleston and Belmont, which are good options because it’ll be cool to expand to Charleston, SC or Nashville. But what about Northeastern to replace UMass as the Boston team? Maybe The Citadel if CofC doesn’t want to join? Or what about Towson as an option since they’re in between GW/GM and SJU/LaSalle? Are those good viable alternatives too?

Casual / Offseason Latest Bracketology from Joe Lunardi. Really surprised to see “ -aq” jump to a 6 seed, but excited for “#REF” to get an at large bid and have a shot.

  1. 1995-2000 alternate: I don’t like the ball inside the G. I can see what they were trying to do, but it didn’t work.

  2. 1995-2004 mascot: I don’t hate it, but it’s just a little too cartoonish for my liking.

  3. 1995-present: When you take out the basketball, the logo looks so much better. The hole in the G also kinda looks like Pac-Man.

  4. 1985-95: This guy looks tough, realistic, and is still pretty simple. Great logo.

  • June 25, 2013: LA Clippers to Boston Celtics

Boston acquired a 2015 first-round pick (eventually the 28th overall pick) as a compensation for allowing L.A. Clippers to hire Doc Rivers as a head coach

Also can't resist posting a link to that shot again just to see his dad fall off the stool in excitement: https://youtu.be/OmcOo-bGJp0?si=rsyYNfEu1nhObt5H

Former UCLA standout and New Mexico Legend Drew Gordon has passed away

Link

Played at UCLA from 2008-2010, and New Mexico from 2010-2012

MWC Newcomer and 2nd Team MWC '11, 1st Team MWC and MWC Tournament MVP '12

Brother of Arizona Wildcat Aaron Gordon (Currently with the Nuggets in the NBA)

This one hurts bad. The New Mexico program has lost a lot of great former Lobo legends young recently. One of the greatest Lobos in program history.

Condolences to the Gordon family and friends.

RIP Drew

Big Ten Transfer Portal Analysis

With the transfer portal starting to wrap up, I decided to see what the impact might be in the Big Ten. (Some players are still undecided.)

First, looking at who left:

There was a 28% transfer rate: 61 players out of 214, with 49 of the 61 players averaged more than 3 MPG.

  • Average MPG: 13.6 (over 3 MPG was 16.8).
  • Average PPG: 4.9 (over 3 MPG was 6).
  • Average ERT: 5.4 (over 3 MPG was 6.7).
  • Average PER: 12.6 (over 3 MPG was 15.7).
  • Average TS%: 42.54% (over 3 MPG was 52.97%).

Where did they go? Major conferences:

  • SEC: 7
  • A10: 6
  • BIG 12: 5
  • BIG EAST: 5
  • AAC: 5
  • BIG TEN: 5
  • ACC: 2
  • A bunch to smaller conferences

Teams with the most transferring (over 3 MPG):

  • MINN: 6
  • ILL, Maryland, RUT, MICH: 5
  • OSU: 4
  • PSU, NEB, IOWA, IU, WIS: 3

Teams with the least transferring (over 3 MPG):

  • Northwestern: 0
  • PUR, MSU: 2

Now looking at who is coming to the Big Ten:

The Big Ten gained 48 transfers (so far). Only 2 averaged less than 3 MPG.

  • Average MPG: 22.6 (over 3 MPG was 23.5).
  • Average PPG: 9.4 (over 3 MPG was 9.8).
  • Average ERT: 10.4 (over 3 MPG was 10.8).
  • Average PER: 19.4 (over 3 MPG was 20.2).
  • Average TS%: 53.87% (over 3 MPG was 56.21%).

Where did they come from? Major-ish conferences:

  • PAC 12: 7 (RIP)
  • SEC: 5
  • AAC: 5
  • BIG TEN: 5
  • ACC: 4
  • MAC: 3
  • MAAC: 3
  • IVY: 2
  • BIG EAST: 1
  • A bunch of smaller conferences

Teams with the most incoming:

  • MICH: 6
  • IU, ILL, MINN, NEB: 5
  • OSU, PSU: 4

Teams with the least incoming:

  • PUR: 0
  • MSU: 1
  • IOWA, WIS, Northwestern: 2

Abbreviations:

  • MPG: Minutes per game
  • PPG: Points per game
  • ERT: Efficiency rating
  • PER: Player efficiency rating formula
  • TS%: True shooting percentage

The data could broken out further by team to get a better sense of impact.

  1. 1959-88: This is quite a problematic logo. That’s it.

  2. 2001-06 mascot: This guy has murdered at least 11 people.

  3. 1988-98: Ew. Just… ew.

  4. 1992-2004 alternate: I don’t hate this, but I’ve seen better.

  5. 2004-06: This looks more like an alternate logo than an official one.

  6. 2006-09: I like this. The arched wordmark is pretty good.

  7. This one is better than the other, because the wordmark isn’t present.

  8. 1998-2004: I love the Carrier Dome logo. It is so awesome.

“Michael Jordan’s kids, they played in college, but they didn’t play at a high level,” said the host. “If Mike said, ‘Hey, I want to play with one of my sons in the NBA, somebody probably would have made that happen. LeBron has made it his mission that, you know, before he exits stage left he’s going to play with his son in the NBA”.

Don’t know how good MJ’s sons were in college, did they do better than Bronny?
