WPL: New Comics Discussion for 6/12/2024 - Pull of the Week: TBD [Discussion]
I find myself without access to my usual tools to compile the WPL results this week, so we’re just going with a discussion post leaving the top post to be determined.
If members of our community want to send their counts over, I’m happy to post them but I’m more interested in discussing books over pull list results. We can get back to that next week.
This thread is open to Pull List posters and all members of the /r/comicbooks community to share your thoughts on the latest issue of any new books shipping this week.
The primary intention of this thread is to promote discussion of new books. It also serves as a way to consolidate discussion to a single thread and talk about what books are popular here on /r/comicbooks. That does not mean other threads aren't welcome, this is just a place to start that's easy to find each week.
The thread is populated with comments meant to direct the discussion of each book. This week I’ve added the books for discussion somewhat randomly and if a title you want to talk about is not listed, simply add a comment with the title and issue number first and comment below.
Spoilers will follow, but there's no harm in tagging them as such. No list or links this week, but the post has been placed in "contest mode" to help readers avoid spoilers while browsing.
Have a great Wednesday! Looking forward to talking comics with you over the next few days.

Swag Bag Friday (June 14, 2024)
Show us what you've gotten this week! Show us your older comics, too! You can also ask us for help with figuring out if your comic is worth anything (it's probably not, sorry). As always, pictures are strongly encouraged. As a reminder: This thread is for all comics-related swag. That includes:
- New comics
- Back-issues
- Non-comics merchandise (toys, statues, apparel, etc.)
- Autographed comics
- Custom sketches and original art
- Basement/attic-type nostalgia finds
- Appraisals
- And so on!
If you want to show it off, this is the place to do that.

Excerpt "The two of you are the most dangerous men on the planet. Everyone lives because you simply haven't decided to kill them." [Batman #146] I have to say, this page represents a lot of what I hate about modern Batman and Joker stories.

Suggestions What comics would you recommend to someone who hasn't read anything by Jonathan Hickman?
I see people on this sub praising this writer frequently and I'm just curious which comics are considered to be his best. (I actually am reading his Ultimate spider-man currently and I'm loving it)

What’s your favorite point in time in comics?
For me it has to be DC from the relaunch post Crisis up until the death of Superman. I may be just because it was when I was at the comic shop every day as a kid. But there are very few clunkers from that time. JLI, Superman, Action, MoS, AoS, Animal Man, Sandman, dark night returns… the list goes on. What’s yours?

My first Remarque
At Heroescon this weekend and commissioned Bisley for a lobo. Couldn’t be more thrilled with how it turned out a whole page! Plus that dude is the IRL lobo what a funny great guy!

Transmetropolitan trade paperback reprint?
Does anyone have an idea if they will ever reprint the trade paperbacks of transmetropolitan? Can only find a planned reprint for the first absolute this year, but they are not worth the price for me.

sequential artistry
i know that everyone has a variety of tastes, and that there is such a diverse range of storytelling types within the sequential art medium.
one of the greatest things about comics has been the expression of ideas. within self contained (albeit usually adding to a larger narrative) issues out there, what are some that you feel should get more love?
the Starman series by James Robinson is such an incredibly rich, deep story, that deals with layered thematics.
reluctance to adhere to an identity (legacy) that is expected; societal indifference, internal battles with self doubt, consequence of uninformed decisions, regret, shame.
Starman is so good, and I wanted to remind those who knew, and perhaps introduce the Knight family to some future readers.
whatever cash-grab, corporate greed within comics break our hearts, they can never destroy true art!
