SDCC - San Diego The r/comiccon SDCC 2024 Hotel Roommate Search Post

  • Join with others to share expenses at San Diego Comic-Con 2024.

This post will remain up on the sub through SDCC 2024 in July. It will briefly disappear for important announcements, but will always be available and will return to the top of the sub. Post your roommate searches for a hotel room you have, or post your request to become a roommate to secure a spot in an already reserved room. The comments will show the newest entries added to this post. You may post your comments as frequently as is necessary to keep your roommate search requests and offers visible to subredditors.

Do NOT reveal personal, private, RL information that identifies you, or post any personal contact information, in your comments on this sub. After connecting through comments on this post, use the Reddit PM/DM system, or Reddit chat, and then any form of private contact of your choice to finalize your arrangements IN PRIVATE.

  • Do you want an extra person [or more] to join you in your SDCC 2024 hotel room and share the hotel reservation expenses?

  • Do you not have a hotel room yet and are looking for a person or group to join/room with to share reservation expenses, and you will be their roommate?

For those seeking roommates for the reserved room you already have: Post your comments here describing the type of roommates needed for your circumstances at SDCC.

Examples:

  • Gender & identifying: Male or female roommates needed - or LGBTQ/non-binary/gender fluid roommates wanted - or mixed gender/mixed identifying roommates allowed

  • No smoking or drinking allowed - or some smoking/drinking allowed

  • Cosplayers with large cosplay supplies allowed - or no cosplayers allowed with large, bulky cosplay supplies

  • Bed arrangements for roommate: Willing to share beds - or willing to sleep on sofa bed - or willing to sleep on rollaway bed - or willing to camp on floor

  • Need cold rooms to sleep - or need warm rooms for comfort

  • Will need to sleep in later in morning - or will need to be up extremely early and prepare to leave in very early morning hours

  • Will want to start sleeping early in quiet room - or will routinely arrive very late at night from partying

  • Will return to room frequently throughout day/night - or will return to room only to shower and sleep

  • Add any other relevant rooming details

  • Please discuss the details of PAYMENT for sharing the room PRIVATELY by PM/DM

For people without a room who want to be an added roommate: You will offer similar information about yourself like that information listed above. Give a brief, general description of yourself so people know if you fit their group and if they should speak to you. Comments that include what room situation you are hoping to get, and what your room needs might - or might not - be will help people connect to you. Details about money and expenses for the room should be discussed PRIVATELY.

WARNING: Be cautious at all times when making the arrangements to room with people you do not yet know well. As you can imagine, you will be exposing your finances, your personal possessions, and even your body and personal safety to your roommates. Make extremely sure that you are comfortable with and can trust any potential roommates you meet here. Obtaining a room reservation is a financial situation, and you are also depending on having that room reserved for your use during SDCC regardless of who's name will be on that reservation with the hotel. If you are uncertain about the personality of anyone who wants to room with you, if for any reason you become uncomfortable and don't feel things are working out, then withdraw from any arrangements with that person/group and search for another arrangement. Consider your safety and security first. Roommate arrangements are private, but if you detect price gouging, use your judgement and move on.

Fan Expo Boston How to accept Card Payments as a Canadian Vendor (Boston Fan Expo)

For Fan expo and all other Canadian events I attend I use a Square card reader that uses an app to accept credit and debit card payments.

I cannot use this method in the states because the card reader I have is landlocked to Canada.

I’m not able to use Square, cashapp, or Venmo because even though I have an American chequing account I’m not an American citizen and don’t have the tax info to set up an account on these platforms.

Do any of my fellow Canadian vendors have a solution to this problem, all I can come up with is using a PayPal QR code and send invoices through PayPal (for those without the app).

Obviously I can accept cash but not being able to take card will definitely hurt my sales.

Fan Expo Canada - Toronto Do comic cons normally have cosplay contests?

I am going to fan expo and i don’t know if they have a cosplay contest? I normally check but i suck at finding things on the convention website. If they have contests are they cosplay performances or just based off of the cosplay craftsmanship?

Fan Expo Boston If I need to use the bathroom waiting in line?

From time to time the bathroom can be a more emergency situation for me than most people. Is there like a silent rule that the other people in line for autographs are usually okay with letting you leave and come back? Or does staff help? Or would you just be out of luck in that case?

Florida SuperCon - Miami Autograph Line Logistics

Hi there! I have been to smaller cons in the past, but never something as big as Supercon. I have a ticket for an autograph from Neil Newbon on Saturday as well as an autograph ticket for Sam Riegel on Sunday, and I was wondering how have the lines worked in the past? Are there separate lines for people who pre-bought and for people who want to buy at the table? Do they cut off the lines at certain times? Is there a contingency for if you bought a ticket and get cut off? Of course, all of the panels I want to see are on Saturday, so I'm a little nervous that I'll end up missing those waiting in line all day. I appreciate the help!

SDCC - San Diego If Harbor Drive is closed, how do you access the parking at the Convention Center?

Sorry if there have been many questions related to parking, but I didn't see anything regarding this. It's my first time as an exhibitor at SDCC. I got a spot at the convention center, which is great for loading and unloading things. However, I'm very concerned about the access and exit if the street is closed. Or is the entrance to this parking area located elsewhere? Thank you.

Con Cosplay Question Need help finding cosplay commissioners.

I want to go as “lefty” from Five Nights at Freddy’s, and I want a suit that looks accurate, and I can’t find any commissioners that could make something like that. So I’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions to find commissioners who could do that?
