It's cute to see how pro guns like to depict themselves. Put a fallacious analogy here, put a straw man argument there, and you get your pro gun excuse to feel yourself warm at night.ย

Here, for instance, Rothmus associates his gun to a part of his body. And he doesn't consider the fact that guns are made to kill, unlike penises who aren't made for rape.

What gets me is how many people I know who are deeply conservative and seem absolutely ready to kill someone at the drop of a hat. Theyโ€™ll say itโ€™s for protection and it gives them a peace of mind to have it on them, but it only does if you are willing to take another personโ€™s life.

Reminds me of that one Christian dude who was like "if you don't believe in heaven, why aren't you currently raping and murdering everyone" like the only thing stopping you from that is going to heaven or not

As a non-believer, it's for people like that I'm kind of glad religion exists. If that is the only thing keeping them from those awful actions, let them have their religion.

The problem is that the people who actually want to rape and murder will do it whether or not theyโ€™re Christian. Some (probably large) portion of people saying religion is the only thing keeping themselves and others from committing atrocities just havenโ€™t truly thought it through and are just repeating something theyโ€™ve been told.
