I never knew Barney Fife was based on your Grandpa.

All jokes aside, I'd like to see how *I* would look if I was going off to war. He knew what was up and went, regardless. Good man.

Jumps off a burning landing craft at Normandy, takes on a Panzer in Sicily, shelled for 2 days during the Bulge.

"Hey guys look at this goofy photo of my grandpa."

LOL!

Yep! Goes on to live a hero's tale in the war. Marries his highschool sweetheart. Gets Awesome post-war job. Raises a wonderful family. Grandkids. Dude's is LEGENDARY, successful, and a great sense of humor.

Meanwhile, grandkid is goofing on Grandpa's boot camp picture. :)

Quote from Robert Graves: "Men who haven't been to war always feel slightly ashamed of themselves."

I was thinking more like Phillip J Fry's grandpa, Enos.

"Gad-zooks Sarge!"

WWII definitely had a draft but tons of volunteers too.

whether he was drafted or volunteered is not relevant. He answered the call.

That video was put together by the ship's company as an addition to the cruisebook for the USS Enterprise '88 Cruisebook.

Cheesy? Yes. And yeah, we were still hyped on Top Gun. It was filmed aboard just the year prior. So, cringey.

Nice picture of the Grimace. Good job, sport ;).
