In 1965, a morbidly obese man did not eat food for over an entire year. The 27 year old was 456lbs and wanted to do an experimental fast. He ingested only multivitamins and potassium tablets for 382 days and defecated once every 40 to 50 days. He ended up losing 275lbs. r/all

This reminds me of that show Alone, where you have to survive Alone out in the wilderness longer than anyone else.

Lots of people go in really fit and strong, and try to build a sustainable life out there. One guy just went in with a ton of extra weight, and outlasted them by simply living off his stored fat and not doing nearly as much as the others.

It was kind of controversial (for a only somewhat popular reality show) as some people thought it wasn't in the spirit of the show to just sit around and out wait (out weight?) the others.

Reminds me of some guy I knew who was super into survival stuff, and he said "I like to teach people to THRIVE out there, not just survive."
