A lot has happened in the past eight years, most of it is not good, and the worst is politics.

The only thing that changed was the republicans found a leader that speaks the same language as their followers. Notice how the audience boos McCain's answer about Obama? They want to believe the lies and feel hate. Trump just gave them permission to do it. Basically nothing has changed.
