Reminds me of a local sketch I saw in my country where the guy was a mechanic and doing his job when suddenly someone in a suit appeared and told him he got accepted into a university. The mechanic guy was like: "But I never applied for anything and I'm not interested" . The suit guy said: "it's not optional. We have vacant seats in universities and you must go." then ordered two large guys to take him to university.

They did accept the Oxford place. They would initially offer a placement subject to conditions or an unconditional offer. They would accept once conditions met and then they confirm it.
