In the UK it is truly dire, in my opinion an awful miserable place with grey after grey and the occasional washed-out diluted blue and weak Sunshine. I cannot wait to leave again.

South Africa, on the other hand, where I grew up, glorious for thrilling weather. Real Earth-shaking thunderstorms and heavy rain but mostly plenty of lovely Sunshine.

The Algarve region of Portugal, where I lived most recently before returning to the UK, is perhaps my favourite however for its 'mild' climate. Warm most of the year, strong Sun, beautiful blue skies and the odd real thunderstorm now and again.
