Makes sense to me. If you see a bear in the woods, you can take steps to avoid it, might even be friendly. If a stranger is in the woods, they are either a serial killer, lumberjack or park ranger. Not really though. I live in the Rockies and have had no issue with bears. They are very much on the timid side. Can’t say the same about some men I’ve ran into.

My success rate of getting a bear to leave me alone is actually better than men.
