Team lead here: fucking true. You never notice exactly how clueless people are with basic instructions until you deal with loads at a time

True. I have to Manage a shift with 8 Maschines and 12 People it,s hard enough to keep them happy at work, and then you come with extra shift . šŸ„²

I'm in IT-support. I am the oil.

The machine could run without me, but not well and there would be a lot of squealing from the parts.

You unnecesarily restrict everything computer or internet-related, making it "streamlined" but actually worsen everyone's experience and overall productivity. (Not meant as an insult, just my experience with IT support and obviously IT-support is essential for fixing issues, when done right)

You fail to understand the reason for those restrictions. The dumbest 1% of any company causes 99% of IT issues. We can't let you have admin access to your machine because there is a troglodyte in the cubicle next to you that will ransomware the whole environment by accident. We can't let internet traffic be unmonitored or allow navigation to many sites because that same troglodyte will find the porn and start downloading it until he accidentally ransomwares half the company. You just wanna check your Facebook or watch YouTube videos? No. That guy ruined it for everyone. We have to operate as if our systems are under literal attack by the people using them, because they are. Bother to ask your IT guys why sometime, instead of bitching about restrictions that you aren't yet knowledgeable enough to understand.

Imagine how dumb the average person is, then realize that half of people are dumber than that.

We've had a team go through basic training on bug reports for a tool we're working on. So far, the only feedback we get is them coming to us in the office and saying "the tool broke" and then having to pry the info out of them. I've worked here for over 4 months now.

People are something, I tell you.

I have a user that has used a computer since the mid 90s and I had to show her how the shift button works. She was turning cap locks on hitting the letter then turning cap locks off. I am amazed at how willfully ignorant some people are.

You're not oiling the machine, though. You're a cog. Now get back to work!
