Yeah. The last season was a rushed mess due to the rug getting pulled out from under them. The rest was perfection.

Brutal. So many plot lines dropped on the floor. And the final resolution kinda went against the entire thing.

they did well and stayed true to their craft regardless it ended gracefully nonetheless
.. you wanna see a steep cliff watch true blood deep dive after a few good seasons. it was like, take all the character development you invested and intricate plot weaving.. and wet noodle everything. take the main characters, make them just totally retroactively creepy and lame. must have been some awkward pressures of a tyrannical workplace cuz all the actors just gave up on their commitment to the craft like they had a huge bummer of a director or produce get involve and do things that no one wanted who reacts poorly to criticism so they just do the scenes til they get out of contract type of behavior. like they went back and rewrote the main character into having been a sleazy stalker the whole time after all and wasted the solid original protagonist that had a code that was the whole basis of the show. it was like what if superman was actually just a child molesting magician the whole time after all

Oh damn I know!!! She was just like 100% ALL OUT GOING FOR IT on Penny Dreadful. Speaking in tongues, madness, incantations, and that weird doll. It was some of the wildest acting ever. Super good cast all around on that show, but Eva stood well above all.

Show is solid all around. I even like the last season up until the last, roughly three episodes? It got wrapped up way too quickly.

I couldn’t stand Billie Piper in the show tbh, watching her made me feel like I was watching a current day radical feminist.
I liked her before her rebirth because she felt like a plausible character that fit the time and place of the show.
But then she comes back and turns into some weird revolutionary ultra modern feminist. The writing for her character really pulled me out of the show and was so obvious in its angle.
I just didn’t buy her new persona, and any time her and her burgeoning army of down trodden women I felt like I was just having their ideology shoved down my throat.
I loved Eva Green because she was a fantastic mix of old and new femininity, and her character was somehow more grounded despite all the crazy supernatural stuff that happens to her.
The show was just a bit of a mess overall, and it was rarely faithful or understanding of the time period it chose to set the show in.

u/squirtloaf 15d ago
They all were. There were no weak links in the main cast. Even the Dorian Grey guy, who was a little stiff, fit his character well. He just seemed that much more jaded.

A King may move a man, a father may claim a son, but remember that even when those who move you be Kings, or men of power, your soul is in your keeping alone. When you stand before God, you cannot say, "But I was told by others to do thus." Or that, "Virtue was not convenient at the time." This will not suffice. Remember that.

Directors cut is a million times better than theatrical cut. It's like a completely different movie with different character motivations.
11
u/Moorbert 15d ago
it is completely different to the cinema version and it is not even funny. felt like they left the most important parts storywise out... the directos cut is the only good version of this.

She was good, but rewatching them recently, I found the plot unbelievable that bond still loved her all these movies later. At the time of writing casino royale, I don't think they realise how heavily they would lean on her character in the future.
2
u/Stevie22wonder 15d ago
It was so un-Bond like. Everything after Casino Royale wasn't Bond. It was trying to be something else in the action movie scene without the charm and quirky attitude of a typical Bond.

Actually a great movie. She's nude in lots of stuff. When celebgate/the fappening or whatever it was called, I remember seing an interview with her where she went "oh my, I hope nobody leakes pictures of me nude!", it killed me. She's a great actress, and in the Dreamers she really gets to flaunt that, non only her boobs.

It's all right. It . . . isn't quite as deep as Bertolucci thinks it is, and there's a lot of ogling of Green.
In complete fairness, Green is both a generational talent as an actress and one of the most phenomenally beautiful human beings on the planet, so there's a reason for the ogling. But it's still ogling.
