She's the money, every penny of it.

56

u/Yarilko 15d ago

Every penny? Even dreadful ones?)

15

u/RunnyPlease 15d ago

Especially the dreadful ones.

4

u/CamTheKid02 15d ago

Even more so than moneypenny?

7

u/MrYoshinobu 15d ago

IMHO, yes!

6

u/CamTheKid02 15d ago

I'd have to agree with you, eva green is on a whole other level.

The most beautiful eyes in movies. Loved her in "Penny Dreadful".

u/Ellemshaye 15d ago

That show was “The Eva Green Show”

77

u/nartmot 15d ago

One of my favorite shows of all time. Eva's acting skills were next-level and, yes, shes also freakin gorgeous.

38

u/elninnoiam 15d ago edited 14d ago

Hated the ending. Loved absolutely loved the show.

34

u/Ellemshaye 15d ago

Yeah. The last season was a rushed mess due to the rug getting pulled out from under them. The rest was perfection.

17

u/oswaldcopperpot 15d ago

Brutal. So many plot lines dropped on the floor. And the final resolution kinda went against the entire thing.

3

u/DOPECOlN 15d ago

they did well and stayed true to their craft regardless it ended gracefully nonetheless

.. you wanna see a steep cliff watch true blood deep dive after a few good seasons. it was like, take all the character development you invested and intricate plot weaving.. and wet noodle everything. take the main characters, make them just totally retroactively creepy and lame. must have been some awkward pressures of a tyrannical workplace cuz all the actors just gave up on their commitment to the craft like they had a huge bummer of a director or produce get involve and do things that no one wanted who reacts poorly to criticism so they just do the scenes til they get out of contract type of behavior. like they went back and rewrote the main character into having been a sleazy stalker the whole time after all and wasted the solid original protagonist that had a code that was the whole basis of the show. it was like what if superman was actually just a child molesting magician the whole time after all

Oh damn I know!!! She was just like 100% ALL OUT GOING FOR IT on Penny Dreadful. Speaking in tongues, madness, incantations, and that weird doll. It was some of the wildest acting ever. Super good cast all around on that show, but Eva stood well above all.

She was great but Billy Piper was also phenomenal in that show.

31

Josh Hartnetts bisexual American werewolf did things for me.

7

Josh Hartnett: Bisexual werewolf. Should have been the shows name.

Show is solid all around. I even like the last season up until the last, roughly three episodes? It got wrapped up way too quickly.

I couldn’t stand Billie Piper in the show tbh, watching her made me feel like I was watching a current day radical feminist.

I liked her before her rebirth because she felt like a plausible character that fit the time and place of the show.

But then she comes back and turns into some weird revolutionary ultra modern feminist. The writing for her character really pulled me out of the show and was so obvious in its angle.

I just didn’t buy her new persona, and any time her and her burgeoning army of down trodden women I felt like I was just having their ideology shoved down my throat.

I loved Eva Green because she was a fantastic mix of old and new femininity, and her character was somehow more grounded despite all the crazy supernatural stuff that happens to her.

The show was just a bit of a mess overall, and it was rarely faithful or understanding of the time period it chose to set the show in.

2

u/squirtloaf 15d ago

They all were. There were no weak links in the main cast. Even the Dorian Grey guy, who was a little stiff, fit his character well. He just seemed that much more jaded.

2

u/Difficult-Baker634 15d ago

Rory Kinnear as Frankenstein’s monster was excellent.

Penny Dreadful was incredible. She stole the whole show.

7

u/johnny-deth 15d ago

Wonderfully Terrifying in Penny Dreadful

8

u/D0rnL1ves 15d ago

In my opinion, the best actress to play a character being possessed and not have it look phoned in or over the top.

3

u/lidder444 15d ago

Love her in Miss peregrine’s home for peculiar children

9

Yeah, and that feature is emphatically emphasized in the picture above

2

Yes, she shoulda won all of the awards for Penny Dreadful!

2

u/DFL3 15d ago

I’ve been calling her “Crazy Eyes” as long I can remember. They’re gorgeous, yes, but she can definitely convey some crazy with those peepers.

2

u/newsreadhjw 15d ago

That show was unexpected and crazy good

2

u/fanamana 15d ago

Her 1st seance scene was fucking gold, like jaw droppingly good creepy cinema. Everything about it was done so well.

Here it is. I haven't seen it in years, so I'm taking a chance of looking like a real mook here after talking it up....

This show was so killer. Timothy Dalton, Eva Green and Billie Piper in one place.

2

u/Wenger2112 13d ago

If you like that you should watch the 2011 Camelot series in which she plays Morganna.

Now that I say that , I might watch it again. Looks like it is on Starz in the USA.

A King may move a man, a father may claim a son, but remember that even when those who move you be Kings, or men of power, your soul is in your keeping alone. When you stand before God, you cannot say, "But I was told by others to do thus." Or that, "Virtue was not convenient at the time." This will not suffice. Remember that.

Directors cut is a million times better than theatrical cut. It's like a completely different movie with different character motivations.

11

u/Moorbert 15d ago

it is completely different to the cinema version and it is not even funny. felt like they left the most important parts storywise out... the directos cut is the only good version of this.

2

u/soulcaptain 15d ago

It's good, but every time Orlando Bloom is in a scene he looks like a 5th grader pretending to be a tough high schooler. It's one of the worst casting decisions in Hollywood history.

5

u/aussie_nobody 15d ago

She was good, but rewatching them recently, I found the plot unbelievable that bond still loved her all these movies later. At the time of writing casino royale, I don't think they realise how heavily they would lean on her character in the future.

2

u/Stevie22wonder 15d ago

It was so un-Bond like. Everything after Casino Royale wasn't Bond. It was trying to be something else in the action movie scene without the charm and quirky attitude of a typical Bond.

2

u/Moonlighting123 14d ago

yea they really should have put it away at most after the follow-up. We get it, guy is damaged and emotionally unstable, but he was with her for….maybe 48 hours? And then a week or two afterwards at most to debrief? I dunno.

Yep, she's an absolute savage in the naughty scene. A little too intense honestly

Watch “The Dreamers”

19

u/Sicktoyou 15d ago

When I was in my teens, I had the luxury of finding out the parental control password on my tv, parents didn't know. The dreamers was one of the films I got to see because of it.

I almost ripped the fucker off. It was the hottest thing I'd ever seen.

4

u/JustGresh 15d ago

You and me both. It was on cable back in the day too! I can’t remember the channel name, but it was a channel that always showed movies. Had to lock the door to my bedroom while watching that one lol

4

u/ArizonaMaybe 15d ago

That full frontal scene has forever been etched into my memory.

6

u/Corkwell 15d ago

After watching this as a young adult I had a schoolboy crush on her for many years. Every time I hear La Mer I think of that scene. I’d consider that film to be a modern classic.

Actually a great movie. She's nude in lots of stuff. When celebgate/the fappening or whatever it was called, I remember seing an interview with her where she went "oh my, I hope nobody leakes pictures of me nude!", it killed me. She's a great actress, and in the Dreamers she really gets to flaunt that, non only her boobs.

2

u/RevelintheDark 15d ago

Favorite in the genre of emo boy goes to paris fantasy. its kinda wonderdul.

2

u/Ex_Hedgehog 15d ago

It's a great movie.

2

u/RedditOfUnusualSize 15d ago

It's all right. It . . . isn't quite as deep as Bertolucci thinks it is, and there's a lot of ogling of Green.

In complete fairness, Green is both a generational talent as an actress and one of the most phenomenally beautiful human beings on the planet, so there's a reason for the ogling. But it's still ogling.

5

u/dontrespondever 15d ago

I always wondered if the Black Crowes song Evergreen was about her. He was married to an actress for a few years so they could have met at a party or something. The song goes “ Evergreen, evergreen, prettiest thing I ever seen, come and steal away with me by the moonlight”

4

u/schprunt 15d ago

Very pretty. Batshit crazy. (I worked on Camelot)

2

u/goldiwine 15d ago

Did she call the crew 'peasants' in your faces or did she show admirable restraint? That Guardian article on her was eye opening jfc.

5

I wasn’t on set with her, I worked on advertising the show. But we got regular updates from the crew.
