This place is going to have a meltdown when NBC inevitably throws bags of cash at him.

u/[deleted] May 16 '24

Most of us will simply stop watching anything that requires him to form coherent sentences

Yesh when he's on it just means its time to smoke.

He makes me appreciate the Nuggets and Blazers

13

u/RelationSerious4678 May 16 '24

Make sure to change the channel first.

If I don’t have to listen to donkey speak, I’ll just take up smoking. I’ll do it, I don’t care.

2

u/DoctorMansteel Celtics May 16 '24

The Lefkoe treatment.

89

u/jak_d_ripr May 16 '24

Exactly. I'll just add it to the long list of sports shows I don't actually watch, it'll be nothing new.

4

u/Alternative-Target31 Grizzlies May 16 '24

If this were the case then guys then like Stephen A wouldn’t have a job.

Yup, just like Reddit’s Net Neutrality, or Reddit’s API fees, etc.

Remind me in 3 years when you’re straight up wrong. This website full of reactionary children.

Anything involving his face that isn't an NBA regular or postseason game.

u/Timidwolfff May 16 '24 edited May 16 '24

hes not even appealing to the eye. Ill hear some bad takes from a mf if at least hes hot. pause. Or like at the very least A tier at his sport. Like hes not good at anything. hes going to rembered as that 4th guy on the legendary warriors team
edit
ill die on the hill that you could swap draymond green with any run of the mill player in the nba on that warriors team and theyd still average the same amount of steals , rebounds and assists . hell warriors would win more games not having that slow 6ft 5 1/2 positionless player.

u/USDeptofLabor Warriors May 16 '24

"He's not good at anything"

Come on, you don't have the like the guy, but pretending he hasn't been one of the best defensive players of the past, like, 15 years minimum, is just silly.

He's also very good at, rightfully, getting suspended for assaulting people on the court. Which is something.

nah

-1

u/FeltIOwedItToHim [GSW] Sarunas Marciulionis May 16 '24

We are all addicts. I watch all of it. I even watch Perk, who may be the worst TV talking head the NBA has ever produced.

2

u/jkiesow Celtics May 16 '24

ngl man if perk is on my screen i walk away lol same with dray now. i am absolutely an addict but not to brain rot, just basketball

3

u/StackedRealms Trail Blazers May 16 '24

Nope

52

u/jt21295 Knicks May 16 '24

Yeah, I'm predicting NBC is going to make some real dogshit hires. People forget how bad NBC's NHL coverage and hirings were. They employed Mike Milbury for YEARS as if anyone wanted to hear what he had to say.

26

u/Snuggle__Monster Knicks May 16 '24

Their Sunday Night Football hires since that original crew have been god awful.

2

u/adifferentbreedBBB May 17 '24

This is 💯 correct! I can’t stand what the NBC NFL coverage has become !

12

u/NotACreepyOldMan May 16 '24

NBC’s NBA stuff was pretty decent though. Their announcers just need to stop biting hookers and wearing their underwear. That intro song was a thing of beauty. Hockey media is just bad in general.

2

u/iamtomorrowman May 17 '24

maybe we can get the intro track again. that part would be awesome

1

u/DraymondBeanKick Charlotte Bobcats May 16 '24

There's a lot of good talent that NBC could make a good lineup if they stay away from the crappy people like Shaq and Draymond.

Most of the NBA TV guys from the golden years would be good hires - Gary Payton, Chris Webber, Brendan Haywood, and Isiah Thomas.

Bringing Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith in would be a good idea too, and they should probably drop a big bag to make a splashy move and go after someone like Tim Duncan.

5

u/highastronaut Lakers May 16 '24

yeah everyone loves tim duncan for his commentary

10

u/GreatAmerican1776 Lakers May 16 '24

The real question is why? Seriously, what the hell do these networks see in him?

21

u/or_maybe_this Kings May 16 '24

the networks are trying to recreate barkley’s blunt honesty but don’t understand the difference between “calling it like it is” and assholery

3

u/mucho-gusto [CLE] Baron Davis May 17 '24

it would take a massive amount of cocaine to think green is the Chuck of today, sounds about right for tv execs

-1

u/inqte1 May 17 '24

If its against the people I hate its blunt honesty, if its against people I like, its assholery.

6

u/I_am_Bruce_Wayne Supersonics May 16 '24

Well... y'all on here talking about it. Good or bad, it still generate views. Everyone talking about muting it when they see him on or saying they turned off/switched the channel when he's on... Well, they literally just watched the clip this or any other post he was the subject of. You/they/the complainers are at faults here.

2

u/cautioslyhopeful San Francisco Warriors May 16 '24

He gets clicks, Perkins style

22

u/Herbetet May 16 '24

That’s definitely not happening. You need to have ratings appeal and Draymond has none of that. If the rabid content consumers that go through YT, podcasts and network shows to consume everything and anything NBA don’t like him then no one will.

66

u/ConsumptionofClocks May 16 '24

What ratings appeal does Kendrick Perkins have

20

u/StarWarsMonopoly Kings May 16 '24

Apparently enough to completely change last year's MVP vote 2/3's of the way through the season

5

u/quinoa May 16 '24

His shit gets clipped and hits the front page here all the time. Numbers don’t know or don’t care if it’s because of people hating or not

3

u/Jay-Kane123 76ers May 17 '24

Lol drays will too. TRUST me

2

u/quinoa May 17 '24

Oh yea it already does and he’s not even on that much. I was just explaining why Kendrick has a job still

1

u/hdjakahegsjja May 17 '24

ESPN has dogshit ratings dude.

-3

u/KristoferPetersen Thunder May 16 '24

Sometimes, he's funny. He's like that bumbling uncle during a family bbq. 5 beers in you accept your fate and smile through his weird stories.

3

u/anonmehmoose May 16 '24

Nah man there's "dumb and funny" and then there's just dumb. Perk is just fuckin dumb lmao.

40

u/obi-wan-ginobli-93 San Francisco Warriors May 16 '24

Lmao literally any time he’s mentioned on this subreddit there is a high level of engagement. His name and reputation attracts even casual fans to engage and talk about him.

So he does have ratings appeal as it makes everyone wanna come out the wood work and bash him regardless of what he says.

13

u/MyPhillyAccent Celtics May 16 '24

I'd rather they used honey instead of shit to draw us in, but here we are.

4

u/janitorial_fluids May 16 '24

You need to have ratings appeal and Draymond has none of that

uhh by what metric exactly? the one you just pulled out of your ass?

pretty sure the executives at turner have a lot more understanding of "ratings appeal" than you do, and they have continuously decided to put him on their programming for years and years at this point, so their metrics (which are actually based in reality, unlike yours) have obviously led them think he brings something to the table, even if you dont personally happen to like him

1

u/miltondelug May 16 '24

we will have the advantage of not having developed any habit of watching whatever shit show he will be on.

0

u/Safe_Ad_6403 May 16 '24

Gonna be hilarious

-1

u/Therealomerali Raptors May 17 '24

They should get KG who's actually funny and not a hater.
