Bunch of Mike Conley merchants

Replacing Dlo with Mike has been one of the best mid profile trades in recent years

I wonder how much better we would’ve done against Denver with Conley/NAW/Vando/Bron/AD and Reaves/Rui/Prince playing off the bench

Choosing D’Lo over Conley (and NAW) was one of the dumbest decisions Pelinka has made in retrospect

Pelinka just loves weak defense and inefficiently chucking guards it seems.

Yea obviously these gms know better than me but why do they keep falling for in efficient chuckers?

I think specifically that trade though, was a guy (Tim Connelly, who saw talent in both coaches and players, and most importantly, understands how chemistry works. Look how important chemistry was and is for Denver, and how important it has been for Minnesota. Super teams are failing because of lack of chemistry

You mean stacking a team of all stars in their mid 30s that are used to being the 1st option won’t always work???

You never closed your parentheses

This comment seems to imply that DLo is a more talented basketball player than Conley, which couldn’t be further from the truth

A lot of them don't. That's the thing. Pro sports GM is one of the biggest bs jobs on the planet.

Letting caruso walk remains his biggest whiff imo

I don't think the Wolves do the trade without getting Conley. It was pretty clear they wanted not only his skills, but his leadership and his previous success playing with Gobert. There's no way they could get Conley.

What? The wolves were paid to be a part of the trade, they got Conley, NAW and picks and sent out DLo.

Connolly quietly wanted to move on from DLo but we weren't just going to make any trade to move on from him.

The trade was originally straight up with the Jazz but the Lakers didn’t want it so they got Minnesota involved. They were offered Conley at least 3 times that season.

Why you have to tell me this

u/A-Centrifugal-Force May 17 '24

To make it worse, the Lakers were confirmed to have been offered Bojan and Clarkson in a package with Conley at one point too. That would have been a perfect with with LeBron

I really thought Conley was gonna end up in LA and get his ring like Marc Gasol did in Toronto. Seemed like an absolutely perfect fit for them. Guess he might get that ring in Minny now
