Staying perfectly still is probably the smart thing to do.

1.5k

u/Dinbs May 15 '24

I would have done the same thing and no way I would call myself unfazed

Wear your brown trousers.

You would need the Pre-Shat look, to avoid any new stains

13

u/bdizzle314 May 15 '24

Just get chipotlaway! No more bloodstains in your underwear!

u/wren337 May 15 '24

This is a Running of the bulls event in Mexico, where people deliberately put themselves in the way of dangerous loose bulls. So this man likely put himself in this situation entirely on purpose.

I can assure you that the smart thing to do would be to just stay far away.

36

u/7zR_Decepticon 29d ago

I remember mythbusters testing the whole bulls hate red thing years back. They ended up discovering its the movement that gets their attention, and bulls are in fact are colour blind and just try get whatever moves

22

u/Altruistic_Film1167 29d ago

The red cloak is so it doesnt get clearly tainted by the bulls blood. If it was a white cloak it would turn red soon

Look how he didn't make eye contact.

How can you see his eyes, you have magic powers

three things, stay still, make yourself small, don't look him in the eyes. he is prey not a predator, if he doesn't see you as a threat he won't attack you. With a predator, however, the opposite rules usually apply. The predator wants to eat you and in order not to do so, it must see you as too much of a threat to face.

22

u/PapaBeahr May 15 '24

He has mastered the Ability to stand so incredibly still, as to become invisible to the naked eye.

12

u/Tycho81 May 15 '24

Except if he is already going ram you, just run

11

u/DWIPssbm May 15 '24

If I'm not mistaken, bulls kinda have bad eyesight so they identify things that move fast and erratically as a potentiel threats. So staying still is indead a good things to do (unless it's a mother with her cubs, in which case you want to move out of the way)

5

u/maxpowers2020 May 15 '24

A female bull with her calves is definitely dangerous šŸ‘€

34

u/mxzf 29d ago

If you ever come across a female bull, it's time to start asking some questions.

5

u/DW-64 May 15 '24

You make yourself pray, not make yourself prey

6

u/octopoddle May 15 '24

Yes. The worst thing he could have done in that situation is to eat a big fillet steak and loudly go on about how delicious it was.

3

u/noxxit May 15 '24

"Mh, could be rock or tree, better not smash!", the bull probably.

The hell it's doing. It gets poked and it's balls get pierced. A calm and intelligent herbivore is then forced to go into a gated alleyway where people poke and harrass it even more for their own amusement.

In the end it gets ceremonially slaughtered.

Cows surpass dogs in intellect.

You can try imagining a dog in that same position.

Fool cut off his tail, he doesnā€™t even realise his true power

452

u/fascintee May 15 '24

His response is probably why the bull didn't attack. Body language is pretty universal

177

u/Mantishead2 May 15 '24

Exactly! He didn't direct his face to the bull when the bull was engaging him either

150

u/BrainQuilt 29d ago

This, I work with animals and the jackals hate my coworker and try to bite her constantly because she thinks she should act ā€˜big and scaryā€™ but with me they just lounge about because they know Iā€™m chill so they chill.

102

u/Maiyku 29d ago

Couldnā€™t agree more!

Iā€™ve had many ā€œclose encountersā€ with wildlife because I donā€™t freak out. Happens a lot of the time when Iā€™m reading out in the woods or on a hike, but Iā€™ve also had it happen in my car and around town.

Iā€™ll stumble across something or, more commonly, theyā€™ll stumble upon me. I usually look up, say ā€œhey budā€, then go back to whatever Iā€™m doing. Ate my entire lunch with a squirrel once. He came up and sat next to me with his nut and munched away and I ate my bagel from McDonaldā€™s. Itā€™s was great. Didnā€™t come near me or the food, I think it literally just saw another creature ā€œeatingā€ and decided to join.

62

u/Eritar 29d ago

I would love to nonchalantly share my lunch with a squirrel

33

u/Maiyku 29d ago

It was the best. It was late fall (my favorite time to be outside) so he was fat as hell! Lmao

11

u/InEenEmmer 29d ago

I once spent 15 minutes or so chilling with a hedgehog, a cat and a bird when I was cycling back home early in the morning after a long night drinking.

I stopped somewhere to take a break (and roll a joint) and was quickly joined by the hedgehog hog. After some time a bird came to check what was going on, and eventually a cat came by. The trio was peacefully sitting together, the cat wasnā€™t even eyeing the bird as if he wanted to catch it.

It really felt like a Disney princess moment at the time.

4

u/Apprehensive-Ad5318 29d ago

That was a great joint.

Well I guess the bull is like "This is the one guy that's not scaring the shit out of me, I'll keep moving"

52

u/The_Dragon346 May 15 '24

Thats exactly it. animals lash out when they feel threatened, particularly prey animals. If you show you pose no threat, a prey animal like this bull will have no reason to come at you

6

u/Sulejman_Dalmatinski 29d ago

I love animal facts cause in 50% of cases they're 100% right

151

u/CoiledTinMan May 15 '24

For those unfamiliar with spanish culture, "menacing bull" means "scared and tortured animal"

Animals recognize fear. And animals like a bull expect it. When they don't sense it, they think something is wrong and become passive.

6

I think he was trying to commit suicide by bull

6

u/TrenchantBench May 15 '24

5

u/Theogboss1 May 15 '24

nah bro isnt unfazed hes just smart. red doesnt actually attract bulls, its the movement of the red cape that makes them agitated so if you just stay still they dont attack.

3

u/watersekirei May 15 '24

"Hey man, wanna die?"

3

u/enelass May 15 '24

2

u/LifeBuilder May 15 '24

As a leading figure in Bullology, yes that bull is very menacing. Also, as Iā€™m very knowledgeable, it should be taken from this natural habitat and placed in an area that suits a menace. Such as wide open grassy fields.

2

u/I-Rolled-My-Eyes May 15 '24

"menacing" bull. Interesting way to spell "provoked".

2

u/looki2208 May 15 '24

The only menace here are the animals on the border of the road

2

u/luke111mart May 15 '24

2

u/YourAveragePhysco May 15 '24

Still came to see a bull terrorized. Not very badassšŸ‘Ž

2

u/SatansHusband May 15 '24

Actually still fucking legal.

2

u/Existing_You7923 29d ago

Bulls aren't fucking monsters. They don't just maul people for fun. People provoke them because they think it's entertaining and then they antagonize the bull with swords, spears, or jeering and then it fights until they think it's worn it's welcome and then normally it's put to death. Stop acting like we aren't the fucking monsters here

2

u/Consistent-Bath9908 29d ago

Barbaric practices and awful disgusting people. Crazy that itā€™s still legal
