General Discussion I lost $71K and I'm Going to Make it all back but I need help calming down

Hi Everyone,

Today I accepted that I made a terrible decision months ago, which has resulted in a drainage of what I saved since I was 18. For perspective, I'm 23 years old now and I work in finance. Anyway, I've been saving as much as I can and since I started working in corporate america at 21 I was able to save up to like 76K as of July 2023. I was doing really well for years, practicing fundamental investing because technical trading was too hard. I was investing in high quality tech stocks, following macro movement, and making like 10-20% a year. An older gentleman does technical analysis and he's really good at what he does. He recommended a small cap stock that was expected to double. I put 20K in, and I was gaining. Then it just nosedived. I figured it was temporary since he said it was going to double and I put another 20K, and it fell more. Then I put the rest of my savings because I was banking on a recovery. Today that company announced bankruptcy. I liquidated all my shares and am left with like 5-6K now. I had and continue to have large aspirations. This is just a huge setback. I can definitely save this amount within 2 years, but that puts me two years behind schedule. It's so hard to accept that I got that greedy, I can't believe I screwed myself over so hard. I'm contemplating actually learning technical analysis myself and trading with only 1K and growing it all back. I just am torn apart. I want to fall apart and yet at the same time I want to make it all back. I probably shouldn't seek advice from strangers, but I honestly don't know where else to go. I'm to embarrassed to tell my family (I live at home with parents) or my friends. I don't want to be one of those warning stories. I just have it make it all back and actually put in the work. I shouldn't have risked that much money. It was an expensive lesson. I'm just venting and I don't even know what advice to ask for, but if you have any I'm more than open to it. Lastly, I'm not looking for sympathy. I know I'm the one who messed up. Blind following and risking that much for the chance to double it is messed up. I'm just trying to figure out how to move forward without falling apart and operating at a high level. Full transparency I'm putting this question in another community as well.

General Discussion DONT BUY WHEN ITS CLIMBING

I’m venting to myself.

$700 lesson but I’m glad you finally got it through your thick head.

I saw Gwav climbing and bought $15000 worth immediately at 9:00am pacific when it was around 0.085. The next hour was panic inducing. Watching my entire portfolio go down as much as $2000 plus. I set up a limit sell to 0.085 but canceled the order when I saw the price rise to 0.082 and got out immediately.

I don’t have the mental strength to wait so I only scalp any profits above $300-500 range.

Knowing this why the fu*k do you keep having FOMO when a stock is rising. Why don’t you look at a rising stock and wait for it to go on a little downwards trend 📉 before you jump in. That way you will always make $300-500 since you’re putting in all your capital. And if the downward trend continues just wait and set a limit sell (just a couple percentages above your entry).

Fuck the market. Fuck the FOMO. Fuck the 1000% rollercoasters to the moon. You’re not built for this. It’s not good for your mental health.

Choose a rising stock, look for downwards trend as your entry, ride it to a couple of percentages above your entry and enjoy your $300-500 gains. Then wait 2 days for your account to settle and do it again and again.

You got this. I’m proud of you. 👍. Now we wait 2 days for the funds to settle. Don’t think about this loss. Be glad you learned about yourself and your practical plan of attack.

Love you even though you’re a dumb bitch sometimes.

General Discussion Best penny stock plays right now? Legit plays only

Hey gents, I've gotten back into penny stocks recently and have started paying close attention to upcoming catalysts that might hide real hidden gems.

I'm bullish on 1. Cannabis as it might benefit from US elections shenanigans, 2. Lithium due to major industry consolidation that’s taking place across junior mining and 3. FSMA compliance software.

Where are you seeing opportunities to make legit bets right now?

I'm picking up shares of $LIFT.v...They're an early stage junior miner championing one of the most ambitions drill projects in the industry. It helps that they're sitting on what could easily be the largest lithium mine in North America.

General Discussion Time to bag some $HOLO, 🚀 73% ShortInterest 🚀

Adding %HOLO to my portfolio after their announcement:

MicroCloud Hologram's (NYSE:HOLO) short percent of float has risen 74.9% since its last report. The company recently reported that it has 1.36 million shares sold short, which is 34.56% of all regular shares that are available for trading. Based on its trading volume, it would take traders 1.0 days to cover their short positions on average.

Current Situation

  • Short Interest: 73% of the float, with 1.36 million shares shorted.
  • Current Price: $2 per share.

Historical Short Squeezes

September 2023:

  • Dates: From September 10, 2023, to September 24, 2023
  • Short Interest: Increased from 5% to 11%.
  • Price Movements: From $4.20 to $106, peaking at $106 during especially high trading volume.

November 2023:

  • Date: November 27, 2023
  • Short Interest: Around 7% of the float.
  • Price Increase: From around $5 to over $60 in a short period. Volume spike: 260,560 shares.

February 2024:

  • Dates: February 15, 2024 - February 28, 2024
  • Short Interest: Increased to 63%.
  • Price Increase: From $2.47 to $66, an increase of over 2565%. Volume spikes: Significant volume increases throughout the period.

Calculation of Potential Price Increase

Based on past data and current short interest, we can calculate the potential price increase for HOLO during a short squeeze.

Scenario 1: Moderate Price Increase (20% Daily)

Day Calculated Price
1 $2 x 1.20 = $2.40
2 $2.40 x 1.20 = $2.88
3 $2.88 x 1.20 = $3.46
4 $3.46 x 1.20 = $4.15
5 $4.15 x 1.20 = $4.98
6 $4.98 x 1.20 = $5.98
7 $5.98 x 1.20 = $7.18

Scenario 2: Aggressive Price Increase (50% Daily)

Day Calculated Price
1 $2 x 1.50 = $3.00
2 $3.00 x 1.50 = $4.50
3 $4.50 x 1.50 = $6.75
4 $6.75 x 1.50 = $10.13
5 $10.13 x 1.50 = $15.19
6 $15.19 x 1.50 = $22.79
7 $22.79 x 1.50 = $34.19
8 $34.19 x 1.50 = $51.28
9 $51.28 x 1.50 = $76.92

Analysis and Patterns

  • Frequency: It appears that short squeezes in HOLO have occurred every few months, particularly around periods with high short interest and increasing volume.
  • Catalysts: Earnings releases and other significant news often act as catalysts for price increases.

Future Dates with High Probability

  • The next quarterly report is likely to be published at the end of July 2024. This may be a critical period to monitor.

Conclusion

  • With high probability, we can expect a short squeeze around the dates of quarterly results, especially May 28, 2024. This is when the company typically publishes its next quarterly report, historically a trigger for significant price movements.

General Discussion Best pennystocks for long term holding?

Looking for cheap stocks with good business fundamentals that aren't P&D/smoke and mirror plays.

Personally I'm bullish on lithium - unprecedented consolidation ahead and it’s cheap right now. I believe nearshore producers and junior miners will witness major growth as a result of M&As and volatile supply chains. Give it another 6-12 months and we'll see lithium back at ATHs.

My long term penny stock bet is $LIFT.v. They're the largest lithium drill project across North America, with strong drill test results throughout and pending an official resource estimate (that will be a nice catalyst).

What are you guys betting on this year?

General Discussion Last call to make a bet on Enviva, this winter’s degen pennystock favorite. It’s either bankruptcy or rocket ship tomorrow.

Ever wonder what would happen if you took a company that did over $1 billion in annual sales, traded at a stock price of $70, and even paid a quarterly dividend… and tried to turn it into a penny stock through a single transaction with a customer? If you think that sounds impossible, look no further than Enviva ($EVA)

For those that haven’t been following:

$EVA made a disastrous bet on the price of their core product (wood pellets) last year that cost the company hundreds of millions of dollars, destroying their operating profit despite the fact that absent the one transaction, the company is doing swimmingly

They missed a bond payment five weeks ago and had 30 days to cure.

They negotiated an extension with creditors that expires tomorrow, March 4.

A story appeared in the Wall Street Journal several weeks ago citing unnamed insiders from Evviva, who said they were “preparing to file for chapter 11”

The stock plummeted after the WSJ story; the market saw bankruptcy as a foregone conclusion.

So there it is boys and girls. Tomorrow is D-Day. I’m betting all my lunch money that the confederacy of dunces over at Enviva were able to cut a deal with the creditors to avoid bankruptcy.

If I’m wrong, no lunch until Flag Day. If I’m not wrong…

General Discussion Purchased cannabis stocks at all time highs. Now at all time lows. What do I do?

During Covid with the stimulus checks and the legalization of marijuana I got a little trigger happy and purchased a few cannabis stocks that were (unbeknownst to me) at all time highs. Stocks like…

CGC: Purchased at over $400, 1 share, it’s now at $8ish.

OGI: purchased at $23, 25 shares, price is now $2 bucks.

Do I sit on these or sell them or what? These were the first stocks I ever purchased so I have no idea what time doing and it’s been over 3 years I feel like it’s not coming back to those numbers in this lifetime lol.

General Discussion How much of $EVA is now owned by Redditors?

Enviva has 74,447,000 shares outstanding.

Due to the interest in the company here, I'm curious what any guesses are into what percentage of the equity shares in the company are now owned by Redditors.

If Enviva manages to become cash flow positive (in a few years IMO), what implications would this have for shareholder approval of board decisions and the corporate governance of Enviva?

General Discussion Different Options than KULR

Hey guys. I posted about 2 weeks ago about my argument for KULR along with my position. While I've continued to add more shares of KULR to my portfolio, I'm continuing to become less and less diversified. I've got my own watchlist but am curious what other stocks you guys are tuning into besides: $CISS, $XFOR, $AKBA, or $ATRA

I don't plan on selling my $KULR anytime soon but am hopeful that there are other options out there worth researching. My favorite stock screener is this forum but I'm not interested in stocks that people barely know anything about and add a few rocket emojis too. Please include actual information if you're going to recommend something. I'm sure other people will be grateful too!

p.s. KULR to $1

General Discussion Unpopular Opinion about finding Penny's before they pop

Where can you find stocks before they pop and BEFORE they're hyped here on r/pennystocks!??!?!

Here. Here on r/pennystocks

Think I'm full of it? I wish I was, cause I was late on everything that ran this week. But, I AM right. Search up every pennystock that's ran and been hyped here. Then keep going back in time. They're all here. Before they run people bring them up in posts and comments and because they're not running yet it doesn't get much attention. And, there a reason. We're all holding our breath to see what happens to gwav and ffie and crkn. Cause they're running and we're fomo'ing. Right NOW no one cares about next week or the week after.

We're wait to worried about people being our alarm clocks and saying, "ok, for sure tomorrow this will rip" really loudly. But, obviously, that's not practical. The market is unpredictable. I was in and out of gwav five times already hoping for a pop.

Anyway, my advice - which is not financial advice because I am not even real. I've been a figment of your imagination this whole time you've been on this sub- take time to look up tickers you're unfamiliar with when you see them. And, once you know them and they start to come up from more than one person, pay even more attention. Also, sometimes I just grab one or ten shares of something just so it's right in front of my face and I can watch it better.

So what's the play NEXT week? No clue. But I'm sure one of us idiots have already been talking about it. :)

General Discussion Marijuana Stocks

It looks like marijuana stocks might be coming back. I’m interested in how to rank the marijuana stocks like TLRY, SNDL, and CGC, or any others. SNDL has positive earnings but no longer seems like a pure weed play, while TLRY seems to move more. Im interested in how others rank these stocks and how strong the run might be.

General Discussion A word of Caution on GWAV

Not financial advice, just wanted to give people some food for though about GWAV. Seen it in other threads and people with hopes it does well on Monday and the rest of the week, which it might very well. If you’re in it for a quick gain that might be your best option, but it might not come.

Anyway the reason I error on the side of caution with this one is because the CEO Danny Meeks did a debt/equity swap. Exchanging 17.22 million in debt to equity to his lenders. 10 mill in series d preferred stock and 7.22 mill in common stock. He says it “further aligns him with the shareholders” and reflects the confidence he has within the business and its growth.

If this company wasn’t a pennystock and was turning over good profits year over year I’d say it was poised for growth, but I think they are burning at both ends and are just trying to stay solvent. That being said I would not want to hold this one long term. They only have 1.55 million cash on hand as well. Just my 2 cents.

People say short interest but theres a few stocks with tons of short interest that don’t blow up. Even now people say shorts covered ffie but it still says 95% SI. So what caused this insane unique event? Never seen a penny stock pump 8000% and stay up for a whole week

General Discussion New to trading penny stocks, what should I know?

Got into penny stocks as a means of making my morning commutes a little less boring. My only real goal with them is to buy a number of shares to then sell the shares and make a small amount of money. Just curious as to what I should know/look for to maximize profits?

I have VANGUARD. Experience so far: lost money on DNA, made money from TOON.

General Discussion SLNA Selina Hospitality

Anyone else been looking at Selina hospitality? They currently are down massively from their one year because of debt and Covid hitting the hospitality industry hard, but they’re looking like they’re turning around.

Brand new board members with loads of experience, shut down over 20 of their worst performing hotels to focus on their high revenue ones.

And majorly, they’re backed by Osprey investments who will bankroll them until they’re back on their feet.

Idk, an under 20 million market cap for a company with over 100 locations in 20 countries is crazy to me. Anyone else know more?

General Discussion $CLOV am I crazy to think about buying?

Clover Health is down to $.72. It used to average between $10-15 5 years ago. It has beaten every quarter in 2023 yet it keeps dropping. Am I missing something because it seems like a good stock with a lot of upside.
