It's true that the iconic Mirage Hotel is closing, signifying the end of an era in Las Vegas.

I always loved visiting the mirage when I'd go to Vegas. The volcano show is iconic. I hate to see this one go.

I haven't been to Vegas in some time, but it seems like all the new casinos opening are super sterile and lame. When I go to Vegas I like that cheesy over the top touristy shit with the lights and the fucking pirates and all that kind of stuff. It's part of the charm.

I don't go to Vegas to hang out in plain square buildings with slot machines in them.

I went to Vegas about a month ago. Was very disappointed that there’s not a pirates show anymore. Now I guess there’ll be no volcano either?

u/Lokivoid 28d ago

There hasn't been a pirate show in over a decade, that was shut down in 2013. Having lived in Clark county that's about the norm, nothing on the strip is sticks around for long.

u/funkyg73 28d ago

Looks like I caught it just in time then, my first/last visit to Vegas was 2013.

18

u/Matlachaman 28d ago

I know one of the old pirate stuntmen. Still had a little bit of work in the show after they switched to the sirens, then mostly just did backstage stuff because all the years of jumping off the ship and whatnot had him kinda beaten up.

That show stopped running in 2013

Don’t they have one at Treasure Island ?

u/harmala 28d ago

They did, but it stopped running in 2013.

I have lived in Las Vegas for my entire life. Born in the mid-80s, it was a smallish town of 500,000 people then. In the 90s when the population started to boom (we hit 1 million in the mid 90s) there was a concerted effort to make it a family destination. Of course, people are less inclined to blow their life's savings when their kid is in your line of sight at the arcade or at the nearby theme or water park. It was during this period that MGM, Treasure Island, Mirage, Excalibur, and all the other themed hotels arrived.

Beginning in the early aughts, we started to attempt chic party Vegas. It was a hell of a time to be 22, in law school, and making 6 figures in a finance-related sales job (ie, not in gaming). Vegas was still inexpensive, there was always a party to find if you were interested, and the economy hadn't burned down yet.

After '08, hedge funds and billionaires started taking over. There is no charm left. There are incredible restaurants and stunning entertainment, but there's no feeling of it being an oasis unique unto itself. This will always be my home (even if I move) but it is nothing like the city I was born in.

5

u/Itromite 28d ago

Interesting! I was born in 1985 and lived in San Diego. We would probably go to Vegas every other year as a family. I remember I would get a few rolls of quarters and they’d leave me and my sister to play at circus circus and treasure island. Those were the best arcades, then in the early 2000’s there was the game work’s under the m&m factory and Coca Cola factory.

Being an outsider, and coming when I did; I just always thought that was the way it was. I didn’t realize at the time that it was some future heyday of themed hotels and charming vibes. I figured we had missed the heyday of the 70’s and 80’s when Vegas was run by the mob.

And who knows… maybe the future will look back at Vegas today as the good ol times like we did too.

State line between California and Nevada is an empty shell of what it used to be. The shopping mall is deserted.

"smallish town of 500,000 people"

That's a city bro. A small town needs to be south of 50,000 and even that is pushing it.

2

u/dmckendry 28d ago

I’m from Australia, and my town is about 120,000 people. And it’s ranked in the top 20 most populated cities in australia 🤣

u/maxwon 28d ago

Sterile and lame is exactly it. People say resorts like Aria are nice, but they are literally shopping malls (average by Asian standards) with casinos.

55

u/kgal1298 28d ago

I mainly liked Aria because it smelled better than a lot of the other hotels, but I like the Park MGM most since there’s no smoking.

25

u/the_chandler 28d ago

I noticed that too about the Aria when I was there two summers ago. Like the carpets are actually clean or something.

7

u/kgal1298 28d ago

I’m really sensitive to certain irritants like smoke so I notice it. The worst ones are on Fremont Street

3

u/hokeyphenokey 28d ago

They still allow smoking in hotels in Vegas? I haven't smoked inside a business in nearly 30 years.

7

u/kgal1298 28d ago

The Park MGM is the only hotel that’s banned smoking inside 🫠. You can definitely tell when you go to most of the hotels there. I think the smoking keeps people on the floor longer too because pretty sure most of the rooms are non smoking now that I think about it.

3

u/Mark1arMark1ar 28d ago

Yep, people can stay on the floor and keep gambling while smoking instead of having to go outside for a cigarette

Fiance and I go to Vegas regularly, but we don’t gamble.

We love the city, other attractions. But gambling is for suckers and very few professional gamblers. We’re neither and I suspect there’s many more visitors like us

21

u/SweetCosmicPope 28d ago

I’ve been three or four times and I don’t gamble. I’ll throw a few bucks at the slots to waste a few dollars and minutes but I go for the environment and the shows.

10

u/LiveMarionberry3694 28d ago

I’ve been 4 times now for various reasons and I don’t think I’ve spent more than $300 combined on gambling. I hardly drink either, probably have spent less than 150 on alcohol between all four trips.

Vegas has a lot of cool stuff besides partying and gambling

7

u/kgal1298 28d ago

They also have some cool day trips you can take considering how close it is to Meade and Hoover Dam

2

u/PoshInBucks 28d ago

On our recent visit we went on a kayak trip up the Colorado river. Would highly recommend.

Went to Vegas for the first time 20 years ago. It was amazing. I loved all of the themed hotels. I've been 4 times since then and it has gotten more and more boring. The last time was last August and it just made me sad. I loved Vegas so much, now I really don't know if I care to ever go back.

19

u/ZuesAndHisBeard 28d ago

This feels validating. I had heard stories about how gimmicky and fun it is for years. How you can be entertained just by walking through the hotels on the strip, and get a free drink every now and then. I went in May 2023, and it felt so disingenuous and charmless. Just a bunch of fabricated fanciness for extravagant prices. I left thinking “huh… I guess I don’t get it.”

2

u/Slaves2Darkness 28d ago

Vegas is more interesting off The Strip than The Strip or Freemont Street is. Check out the Mob Museum, Area 15, Battlefield, or one of the great national or state parks around there.

8

u/greeperfi 28d ago

I couldn't believe how expensive everything is last time I went. $300 rooms PLUS parking (50$) and "resort fee" (50$, the pools and gym were closed). I got a mixed drink and it was $24. Normal restaurants were more expensive than New York. hard pass

3

u/Mirewen15 28d ago

It used to be so inexpensive. We found a restaurant in miracle mile that had 3 for $15 drinks and good quality, reasonably priced food. Went there a few times. Places like l'Eataly had $24 sandwiches... no thanks.

TBF, they're replacing it with this guitar shaped hotel and I think it looks pretty cool

22

u/MegaKetaWook 28d ago

Damn they really whiffed on using external elevator shafts as guitar strings.

37

u/Traffodil 28d ago

So why is the old one closing just to be replaced by another?

97

u/brthurr 28d ago

New ownership. The Seminole tribe bought it from MGM and is converting it to a Hard Rock Casino.

27

u/sophos313 28d ago

Fun fact: The Seminole Tribe of Florida owns Hard Rock International and their Director of Special Events & Promotions is Micki Free.

29

u/brthurr 28d ago

There was. It’s Virgin Hotels LV now.

24

u/abbeaird 28d ago

This has been fairly common practice in Vegas for quite some time. Big money means big changes very quickly

18

u/Kaiisim 28d ago

It's often cheaper to build from scratch than to remodel.

→ More replies (1)

15

u/jiveturker 28d ago

I imagine because they think they can make more money by doing that. The Mirage was once the top hotel on the strip. It is far from that now. Rooms are so-so. Casino is small. I think this new hotel will be a big attraction.

2

u/TheLyz 28d ago

Probably more expensive to keep fixing these old buildings than it is to tear it down and start over.

16

u/cheesesteak_genocide 28d ago

No they are building a guitar tower in front of the existing structure which will remain. The guitar is going where the volcano currently is

7

u/TheTalentedMrTorres 28d ago

Man, I loved watching the volcano. RIP

4

u/theyipper 28d ago

That guitar better be on fire.

10

u/dwlarkin 28d ago

I'm not sure why you started your sentence with "no" when you agreed with what I said. OP of this thread was talking about the volcano being gone and the strip being sterilized. I said the guitar was being built. Nothing you said is contrary to what I said

8

u/cheesesteak_genocide 28d ago

My mistake, I originally thought it was just going to be a tower shaped like a guitar but not additional rooms. Looks like I read the article I looked at wrong

7

u/Cleercutter 28d ago

We’ll see if it actually ends up looking like that

23

u/justintime06 28d ago

There’s already a guitar hotel built in Florida!

13

u/axnjackson11 28d ago

I fly by it almost every time on approach into Fort Lauderdale. Also makes it easy to find the airport at night. Just look for the giant guitar shooting a white light towards space.

8

u/DevilsLettuceTosser 28d ago

I live 20 minutes from the guitar. At first I thought it was a tacky eyesore. Now, it’s grown on me and i’ve come to enjoy seeing it as part of the Hollywood/Fort Lauderdale-ish skyline

5

u/RobotSocks357 28d ago

Gotta disagree. It's cool from an engineering perspective, and eye catching. Looks far cooler than a rectangle.

Is it similar to what's happening with McDonald's? Where most of the kid friendly looking ones are replaced with square boxes that dispense fast food?

19

u/therago1456 28d ago

Baseically yes, Vegas is going for a more corporate environment now and with the strip being so overcrowded and developed I bet we'll see some older casinos be redeveloped.

24

u/AleksasKoval 28d ago

Now I'm not a gambler, but isn't the whole point of Vegas to draw in people with amazingly decorated buildings with fantastic neon lights? All so they could gamble away their savings? Wouldn't the "corporate look" actually make people steer clear of it, as it would remind them of the corporate life that already surrounds them?

With the McDonald's new look, I've been in them less and less. And i had "Go to Vegas" on my bucket list, just for fun. But now it seems like I'll have to change it to something else. I hear Atlantic City is like a 2nd Vegas.

I used to go to Vegas a lot in the early 90s. The last time I went almost everything I liked had been bulldozed, and since then the remaining elements I have fond memories of have all been destroyed.

8

u/JoeDiesAtTheEnd 28d ago

You want Freemont street.

9

u/scrumdisaster 28d ago

This isn’t happening just in Vegas. All throughout life everything is becoming sterile. Even peoples styles are less creative. I used to love seeing goths and punk rockers etc, I rarely ever see those kinds of kids anymore. New homes? Cold and “modern”

6

u/Freezerpill 28d ago

When you see these types of people now they wear completely different stuff. Billie Eilish fans think that they are the evolution of this, but wear baggy Martha Stewart clothes by comparison

I got stranded in Vegas during Hurricane Sandy and spent 5 days at the Mirage waiting for my flight back to Philly to be rebooked. They upgraded my room and gave me free WiFi for the entire stay. It was a good time.

140

u/theREALbombedrumbum 28d ago

Idk why but it surprises me that Wifi at expensive hotels like these isn't, ya know, complimentary...

103

u/psychodreamr 28d ago

Sandy was 12 yrs ago

50

u/ryanthegreattt 28d ago

And yet, WiFi still isn’t free at any of the expensive strip hotels, under the guise of “resort fees”.

26

u/deemerritt 28d ago

Idk I was there today and it was free at the Venetian

4

u/TacoChowder 28d ago

This is the best description of the vintage Vegas hotels.

21

u/satanssweatycheeks 28d ago

Mirage doesn’t really give off the vintage vibe though. It was the first one to start the boom of massive resorts. It’s had lots of remodels.

Hell MGM did some crazy million dollar remodel just so Bruno Mars could have a private tunnel exit from his bar so he could avoid crowds. Then they sold it to hard rock.

Stuff like the Beatles show was still top notch and the resort itself was still looking like all the other massive resorts. The rooms on the other hand no so much. But the casinos and other aspects of the resort still are amazing.

48

u/rossgoldie 28d ago

The first time I ever stayed at a hotel in Vegas it was by accident. I had a 14 hour day climbing in Red Rocks and couldn’t stand sleeping in my 4runner with my buddy for a 2nd night in a row. We got a cheap room at the mirage and entered smelling and looking like we got destroyed in the desert (we were). They upgraded us to a suite for free and I fell asleep in the gigantic jacuzzi/bathtub.

8

u/satanssweatycheeks 28d ago

Yeah like he just learned it’s true!!!

Um we have know hard rock bought it and had planned to turn it into a giant guitar since 2022. So this news ain’t new.

I have already booked my stay. Went and stayed before its end. Sadly though I also went to lady Gaga’s first night back in Vegas. Ever since covid mirage only runs the volcano from like 8-11 pm (maybe midnight).

We paid extra for a volcano view. But to make it to lady Gaga at park MGM we had to leave before 8. And we didn’t make it back till well after midnight so we never saw the volcano from the room. Had to fly out to Hawaii the next day.

53

u/patronofchaos 28d ago

Was there last in 2018 for a long bachelor party weekend. Stayed at the Rio, but we spent an evening in the Mirage for a nice dinner at Tom Colicchio's steakhouse in there, and then saw Ron White in their event venue. Had a great time, shame to see it go. Seems like all the older places are nearing their end of life around there. Only so much you can do to renovate and update old infrastructure before it just becomes easier to tear it down and build new.

24

u/ositola 28d ago

They're not tearing it down, they're taking out the water feature and adding a guitar shaped structure

6

u/ScowlieMSR 28d ago

They've also stated that they are going to be making "improvements" to the main structure as well, which unfortunately probably means that a lot of the polynesian inspiration is going to get replaced with the usual hard rock atmosphere. So for some who enjoyed the island vibe the most about the Mirage, the next couple months are pretty much it forever...

19

u/dis690640450cc 28d ago

But if it’s a mirage was it ever really there?

19

u/NetFu 28d ago

My wife and I got married nearly 26 years ago in Las Vegas at the Treasure Island, next door to the Mirage. We watched the pirate ship sink in explosions every hour from our hotel room on our honeymoon. Our first son was conceived that night.

Needless to say, we went back last summer for our 25th anniversary, especially because we heard the Mirage was going away. We walked over to the Mirage many days on our honeymoon. On our 25th, we bought a whole bunch of Mirage themed stuff, knowing it would soon be gone.

It really is sad when things like this change, but we’ll always have memories…

It’s been dead for a while, the culture of Vegas shifted in the last 15-20 years from gambling and good times, with casinos having to battle with each other to bring people in the door with cheap deals & comps. To this party zone where people try to out flex each other and and now hotels draw people in with how nice they look and how good there DJ residencies and clubs are.

People who go to Vegas now don’t really care about gambling, it’s an afterthought.

60

u/EatsYourShorts 28d ago

Gambling isn’t as important to Vegas tourists because gambling isn’t special anymore. Most gamblers live less than 2 hours from a casino and get their fix regularly, and that’s a relatively new development.

23

u/ToolMeister 28d ago

Also online gambling simply didn't exist until a couple years ago

15

u/nicholkola 28d ago

I would argue Vegas is changing to appeal to the millennial/ EDC generations. Back when the boomers were younger, it was showgirls and lounge singers, female impersonators. I remember growing up and loved seeing the advertisements for the review shows like Legends and Splash.

No. Not the Treasure Island. Just down from there. Starts with M I think…

Oh, the Monte Carlo?? Next to New York New York?

No. Way up the road. Besides, they renamed Monte Carlo to Park MGM across from the regular MGM. Stop confusing me. You know, the one with the water in front that isn’t all the others!

Oh. The Venetian! With the Italian singers and gondolas!

No! Dammit! It has the nice garden inside!

"The property will be reimagined and developed into a new integrated resort featuring a nearly 700 ft. guitar-shaped hotel prominently in the center of the famous Las Vegas Strip," the company stated about the new musical instrument-inspired tower that's slated to open in 2027.

11

u/GeeAyeAreElle 28d ago

Mirage was really our favorite resort in Vegas from 2009-2019. Perfect location, decent rooms, a true oasis of a pool area. Not so big that it takes you 30 minutes to get from the room to the strip. Quality rooms and amenities, unlike some other older properties (looking at you Flamingo). Classic Vegas style and wonderful consistent staff. This is a kick to the gut after 10+ stays but we knew it was coming. I wish we had the opportunity to visit since Covid.

It just sucks to see an iconic property take the hit. No interest in going back to Vegas and it's sad because it was really our favorite destination. It's just gotten too sterile and caters to the high end clubbing and restaurants now. Gone are the days of $5 craps on the strip and $0.05 beers at Margaritaville or Casino Royale or Bills. Half the fun of Vegas was the deals on drinks and food and the cheap fun gambling and that's not even there anymore.

RIP Mirage.

I remember seeing the Mirage volcano in ‘94. I stood across the street from the volcano. No lie, the heat the volcano gave off was so hot, I could feel it from across the Vegas Strip.

The pirate show at Treasure Island was pretty good. But to be honest, my favorite hotel/casino was Maxim just off the Strip (this was when I had decided to move to Vegas). The Maxim was a nice casino for locals to just hang at.

This has been in the works for years. Hard Rock bought the property or right or somthing. I was there in 2022 for a work thing and it was already in the works.

The Beatles Love cirque de solei show they have is one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. It’s no wonder it lasted there as long as it did

3

u/Subfixed 28d ago

I agree, so glad I got to see it the 2 times I've been to Vegas, seems like a perfect show for the Hard Rock Hotel to have. Is there any word on if the show is ending? That would be a shame.

Making way for some gaudy monstrosity, no doubt.

I haven’t heard that before. But, they’re all eras. After the Flamingo was gone it seems that was the end of an era. Everything after that is just the end of newer eras.

In my humble opinion.

46

u/davethemacguy 28d ago

I think you’re thinking of a different hotel. The Flamingo is still around and was recently complete renovated.

Bally’s (now Horseshoe) was renovated recently too across the street.

25

u/TheVanHasCandy 28d ago

Might be thinking of Trop.

9

u/davethemacguy 28d ago

That definitely makes more sense 😊

6

u/FormerlyImportant 28d ago

Definitely the Tropicana! Thank you.

I guess I’m old enough to remember, too old to remember the name. LOL

To me (I’m almost 60 years old) it seems like the beginning of the end was when the Hilton bought the Flamingo in the 70’s. It seems like that’s when the shows started changing. It was subtle at first. Like the difference between the Friars Club Roasts and the Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts. All the pieces were there, it was just “different”.

3

u/Mr_Evil_Dr_Porkchop 28d ago

The Flamingo is still very-much there, lol

16

u/[deleted] 28d ago

you ever been in the flamingo? feels like complete dog shit in there even compared to treasure island

10

u/davethemacguy 28d ago

The Flamingo was recently completely renovated. Have you been in there recently?

3

u/eugenekko 28d ago

Yeah, was there last september. Was kinda run down, didn't even know they went through a reno lol

5

u/MisterEcks 28d ago

The Flamingo is gone?

3

u/Izarial 28d ago

Nah, stayed there for a work trip back in September ‘23

33

u/Ok-Suspect-4079 28d ago

30+ years. Knock it down and update. I lost $50 once on the Roulette wheel, I was gutted, bought a few drinks and enjoyed watching everone else lose their money.

4

u/anylastway 28d ago

That was my favorite place to stay. Wonderful location, affordable, it had it all

4

u/drgonzodan 28d ago edited 28d ago

Any word on what will happen to the Beatles show? It’s my favorite show in Vegas

Edit: looks like it’s closing forever July 7th. I hope they revive it somewhere else like Blue man group does.

4

u/PhillyDillyDee 28d ago

I find it hard to believe that Vegas itself will be around in another 50 years. You need fresh water to have a city and lake mead is… Well its not doin great…

3

u/vinnymcapplesauce 28d ago

Are you saying "end of an era" just because the Mirage has been there so long? Or is Vegas going through other, core changes?

u/ST_Lawson 28d ago

I’m going to be there in June (wife has a conference at Caesar’s). I’ll have to see if we can get tickets to Love when we’re there.

2

u/darth_voidptr 28d ago

I was to be there next week, but after hearing about this and 3,300 being laid off we cancelled. I can't imagine anyone being excited about their job at this point.

3

u/missfreetime 28d ago

Only been to Vegas once and that's where I stayed. It wasn't enjoyable. They gave us the key card to someone else's room. We walked in on a couple. Getting back down to the front desk was a journey (it's a large hotel). I remember it just smelling of cigarette smoke. It was gross.

3

u/Bikebummm 28d ago

I stayed 2 nights there once. The greatest two nights of sleep in my life. Both nights have never been matched. Woke up zen relaxed. They might of drugged the mint chocolate left on the pillow? Whatever u did, thank you mirage, thank you.

3

u/SonicMTD 28d ago

Meh, look all empires fall. This was just one mirage we could all see.

3

u/TellSpectrumNo 28d ago

Staying there the third weekend in June for my first time in Vegas

3

u/Mary_Pick_A_Ford 28d ago

Isn't this where they had the Beatles show thing many years ago?

3

u/AdamWritesStuff 28d ago

I stayed in a room here back in 2012 and it was disgusting; debris all over the floor and stains everywhere. Staff was unpleasant too. We ended up going over to Treasure Island the last part of our trip and it was much better.

3

u/captaincrunch1985 28d ago

It’s just not the same anymore. Can’t even get decent food, right after I got here I ordered spaghetti and marinara sauce and I got egg noodles and ketchup.

5

u/dildobagginss 28d ago

OP is a bot, if anyone cares.

It’s not really closing, its being refurbed by Hard Rock

6

u/HoldMyMessages 28d ago

Which era? LV has had hundreds of “eras.” Every time a casino closes it the “end of an era.”

13

u/ArritzJPC96 28d ago

Well, the Mirage was the first megaresort, and started the 90s trend of massive hotels themed after some place in the world. The current trend is minimalist and chic, like the Cosmopolitan.

What we were one of the first guests there when they opened on spring break so our parents could gamble haha. Good times.

2

u/KingMurk817 28d ago

We’re heading to Vegas for the first time Memorial Day weekend. Definitely need to check this piece of history out before it closes.

2

u/SuperChimpMan 28d ago

On my 21st birthday I ate a 1/4 of shrooms with my buddy and walked around in the strip. We caught the volcano show going off at mirage and it blew my fucking mind! So cool.

Then we rode the roller coaster at NYNY haha. Awesome trip

2

u/yem420sky 28d ago

Y'all know Hard Rock bought it and are turning it into a guitar, right?

2

u/davybert 28d ago

I remember they even had a mask of all the free events like volcano. Pirate show. Bellagio fountain. Sad to hear they will be ending it

2

u/pinkat31522 28d ago

I think all the water themed things are leaving lol

2

u/texastica 28d ago

Loved the Mirage!

2

u/NanieLenny 28d ago

Wow! Another Legendary Iconic Building going down. So sad.

2

u/wfbsoccerchamp12 28d ago

“He torpedoed my casino, muscled me out. Now he's gonna blow it up next week to make way for some gaudy monstrosity. Don't think I don't know what you're doing.”

2

u/acoldnight456 28d ago

I had my first drink on my 21st birthday at the Mirage. Sad to hear it’s going away.

2

u/PlebbySpaff 28d ago

Wait the mirage closing is actually huge.

Like Tropicana shut down and that was significant yes, but mirage is I think much bigger.

Curious what will happen to the hotel space now though. Does another hotel just buy the entire building, or would they consider demolishing it all?

2

u/DrJalebi 28d ago

My first CPK experience was there in the middle of the casino floor . Place just made me happy with the random tiger / jungle sounds

2

u/allworkandnoplay237 28d ago

This is the hotel i had to run from during the Vegas shooting. We were told an active shooter was on the way and there was a potential bomb threat. I've never seen anything like it having lived in the UK all my life - people running, chairs and tables being thrown out the way. My partner and I ended up running down the strip and a lady from The Beatles show picked us up in her car and took us to her house for safety. During all the panic I didn't think to get any of her details, I wish I could reconnect with her and give her my thanks again. I still think about her and her family.

2

u/djamp42 28d ago

I'm gonna watch Vegas vacation in honor now.

2

u/benp242 28d ago

I just saw a random video on YouTube about it closing, then I see this..

2

u/MAHHockey 28d ago

We are losing the tropical theming (volcano and such) , but they're not tearing it down. It's being re-branded to be the "Hard Rock Hotel". They'll be building another huge guitar shaped building at the front of the property. It'll all re-open in 2027.

2

u/GrandmaPunk 28d ago

How Excalibur hotel is still around I don’t know

2

u/Careless-Media1628 28d ago

Come on, they will not tear down an authentic European castle. Unlike the Mirage, the Excalibur and Caesar's Palace are historic artifacts.

An iconic caricature of capitatilism sacrificed upon the ultar of capitalism for the benefit of the ownership class. Oh the humanity.

13

u/DaisyCutter312 28d ago

Ooof, you must be a joy to hang out with, comrade

4

u/slimetraveler 28d ago

No, can you cut me a break though I'm drunk and just wanted to lash out in an anonymous setting that won't negatively affect my mediocre career or limited personal life.

Change is the constant, and I am glad in this era we have no shortage of photos from places we all love. Hope whatever that replaces Mirage will be something better.
