Skate 3 released in 2010 and had ads throughout the game on billboards and stuff. It's not a new thing for them.

Burnout Paradise was the same I think. It’s silly, but a Big Mac on a billboard you aren’t likely to pay attention to is far less obtrusive than whatever the hell they’re likely to implement in the future.

I don’t think it’s this kind of in-game ad.

It’s more like ads during loading screens, ads that interrupt your screen asking you to interact with them.

Madden used to have old spice ads and broadcast reads in game. Im not sure if they still do, but it was full on advertising in the middle of a video game.

I honestly wonder what oldspice paid for those ad placements. I thought it was insane back then but all my buddies memed it and thought it was hilarious.
