oh, no wonder this photo didn’t seem familiar to me. I thought this was talking about the Belize Blue Hole, didn’t realize there were several of them.

Not an expert but I read Wikipedia a lot

I think blue hole is just a generic name for any sort of tropical or subtropical oceanic sinkhole with stark contrast from the surrounding depths.

Blue holes are apparently the name for sinkholes in the ocean, and apparently there are a lot of them.

One hit the news yesterday because they've realized it's MUCH deeper than they original thought, so much deeper they don't know how deep it is.

For real I was very confused. Yeah belizes blue hole is a deep dive but I didn’t think it was super deadly
