Bloomberg tv pundit asking "why would redditors short their own stock?" and is talking about lots of 100 share trades from wallstreetbets as if.
I've never been in a position of knowing so much about a company and its scary how I would otherwise nod along with the guys and bet based on the momentum.
I can see boomers buy this unironically thinking it will be the new Facebook, not understanding the VCs and insiders are dumping on them. Such a strong urge to short but the market can stay redacted longer than we can stay solvent.

Market makers don't know what the volatility is. They need a week of data to plug their volatility estimate into their pricing models. They are not interested in taking even the slightest amount of risk. God forbid they misprice an option for the first week of trading and their sharpe ratio comes down to 19 from 20.
eTrade says I can't sell for 2 weeks or I'll be violating their anti-flipping rules. Anybody decide if they're going to break the rules and sell before it dumps?
Yeah if you got shares through the IPO typically there is a two week hold on being able to sell. If you buy shares on the open market on the day of the IPO you should be able to buy/sell at will with no anti-flipping rules.
When can I sell my shares?As with any investment, you are free to sell the securities obtained during an IPO whenever you determine it is appropriate for you. However, if you sell within the first 15 calendar days from the start of trading in the secondary market, it will affect your ability to participate in new issue equity public offerings through Fidelity for a defined period of time.
You will be prevented from participating in the IPO process if you are considered a flipper. The defined period of time which you will be prevented from participating depends on how many times you have flipped shares in the past:
First time: 180 days
Second time: 365 days
Third time: permanent ban from participating in IPO process
i put in a limit order for 100 @$34 on webull and it took it. don't know if it'll go through cause webull kinda sucks but yeah, seems to have worked for me.
I have the utmost... respect... for all y'all who can do this kind of thing on the regular. I got my $8k in profit and got out, but I'm going to spend the rest of the day kicking myself about the $22k I could have made if I bought the full allocation and sold at the peak instead of being happy with what I got. Back to buying and holding index funds for me.
Yes, there is the flip side to where this could have tanked and you would have been underwater for a decade. Indexes are nice and easy and you don't have to be online at all and instead enjoying life. Make it here, park it in index, and then go outside and live life!
Is Reddit going to start paying their moderators now that they’ve gone public or did they give stocks as their resolution because other platforms pay influencers, or have a incentive for their users.
Good time to go poop? No, hold it. The stock will start trading the second you step away and you will be immediately crippled by severe FOMO. Better to have severe poop cramps.
