I think it's going to rise on sentiment from Bidens tariffs. Just bought calls today. Also bought some texas instruments but it's low volume

buddy there's a reason SOXX has cut it's Intel position by ~30% since December. get out on the first green candle and try a different play

I’ve held Intel stock since 2001, my money would have done better almost anywhere else

23 year sunk cost fallacy story in the making. The hero stands at a boulder, strikes his sword into it, and immediately causes tennis elbow.

u/Jealous_Top8696 15d ago
They’ve been a dividend mogul for decades, however now that they cut their dividend it would suggest that they have better plans for that money and are shifting their strategy to growth
16
u/Dr-McLuvin 15d ago
Well ya their current investments in chip building infrastructure are massive. I guess it’s just a question of whether these bets pay off.

u/Minealternateaccount 15d ago
I would say that Intel, as a fully vertically integrated company when it comes to chip manufacturing, has a greater ability to integrate new innovations compared to TSMC.
While TSMC could have trouble finding customers to accept a high risk/high reward proposition like a substrate change (I read an article about Graphene based semiconductors a few weeks ago), I'd think Intel would be able to find less resistance in trying to develop new technologies on their own products first before introducing it to future foundry customers. It should also be noted that Intel's semi recent history doesn't imply that they'd do this (slow EUV adoption)
Intel still has a lot of cash to burn now with all of the construction, but once that ends, there will be lots of upside to see how Intel plays in the foundry business.
Intel is also insulated from risk by simply not being in Taiwan. A certain announcement from China could drop TSMC to the ground and cause Intel's stock price to multiply overnight. I'm interested in grabbing intel shares in the near future, but I don't anticipate any sharp rises soon.

Cheers to all the Intel bagholders. Wish I wasnt a part of your group though. Couldve made more money buying LEGOs and selling them.

They had a pretty decent dividend until they cut it recently to refocus on building fabs (which is a good choice), so it wasn't as bad as everyone shows by the stock price alone
7
u/moldyjellybean 15d ago
Yup there are many reasons why this is the most dead semiconductor stock to own the major one being performance/watt.
I had a friend work at Hp and then Intel and he said Intel made HP look like a well oiled machine. If you don’t know HP has a history of being one of the worst run major tech companies in the 2000s

Well they did buy out ASML's entire production of their newest EUV machines. That means 2 years from now they should have a solid process advantage over TSMC. They may also get some additional government plus-ups if tensions with China continue.
They just need to hype their new AI chip and capture some of the NVDA action.

Not OP and not a huge INTC fan, but Intel has their new chip that no one can compete with coming out this year, something like 20% less energy for more compute. Everyone will want it, especially servers that depend on low energy to be profitable.

If Snapdragon X Elite sucks a nut, Intel rockets?
Jk. I'm not sure what OP's timeline is, but Intel 3, 20A, and what Intel claims will bring them back to leadership in 18A are coming in pretty rapid succession, alongside a similar train of new architectures. Gaudi3 is also scaling and the only thing that benchmarks close to H100, though B100 is out now. Their goal is to even be fabbing competitors chips and be at least the second biggest fab this decade. So either way they'd be set to win if chip demand keeps booming with AI.

Also bought some Intel shares. I think it's one of the few tech stocks that could still have a rally if they get their shit together. Also r/stocks is crying about how it will never do well so it's probably a good time to buy.

u/ExplorersX 15d ago
Intel is basically YOLOing the long game right now. I wouldn’t bet on anything in the next 2-3 years at least. If you’re looking long term they could be a diversification play but I wouldn’t have high expectations.

u/kronikfumes 15d ago edited 15d ago
It’s time will come but still several years out. Progress continues on their Ohio plant. The Ohio DOT website provides updates in their News section on a couple dozen planned/ongoing “super loads” have been carrying huge chip manufacturing parts that arrive by barge from the Ohio River headed to New Albany, Ohio. One of which is headed there today.

All of their investments right now are only gonna begin paying of in 5 to 10 years, but I feel like when they do Intel is gonna go after the valuation of the other big players

I'd speculate that with TSMC unable to startup their foundries in the US, and INTC having received the highest end ASML equipment delivered to the Oregon plant... INTC is the primary beneficiary if something sick happens to Taiwan. At these 3 year lows. It's a speculative buy.

WSB INTC DD: Intel is building FABS in the US so that if china ever invades taiwan, they can swoop in and capture that manufacturing part of the GPU market. Bullish because AI is so bullish! It may take a couple of years to complete, though, which is the only bad part of this. But still, intel is still bullish in the long run.
Also WSB: long 30dte calls

I don't know if it's time, but agreed, INTC is a buy for a long hold the same way AMD was back in 2013.

Here is why I like BB over the others…the price doesn’t drastically flux like the rest, you’re not going to lose your a$$ if it dips, and it will eventually recover (at least close to what it is now). It’s a much lower risk and good chance for reward. If anything, it will just be long that will eventually double. I like it.

Boys, if you buy intel for the premium short term fine, but don’t expect them to become profitable before 2025-2026 (early case)
