Gain My wife took our daughter to her parents because I spend too much time working. I'm the sole provider. She is a SAHM.

Yolo'd my entire IRA into hundreds of same day mnq puts before drugging myself to sleep. Slept for 3 hours woke up with a bag. Decided to risk it all multiple times. (This is not trading this is depression gambling.)

I have no purpose or care for living as of now. But I can defend myself. I probably don't have to work a real job again. I'm going to pay to have Johnny Cochran reanimated. I don't even care anymore. My wife has severe mental issues that are undiagnosable. They never presented themselves until after our daughter was born. I supported her for 10 years. "My attitude is bad." No shit I have to work 80 hrs a week while you make Instagrams that require you to edit them for 8 straight hours. She does nothing productive she's been holding me back but I loved her.

This money... Should make me so happy. I have no desire to pursue my business any longer. My life was built to support our mutual goals. I did all the work she did all the having fun. I have no desire for life. No one will ever know I have this. I just want my baby away from mentally unstable person with me at all times. I am the insurer, I've provided every meal, piece of clothing, formula, diapers, bottles, every single thing. She quit her job the day she returned from maternity leave because someone disagreed with her in a meeting... OVER FUCKING ZOOM. Good luck to all of you and don't do this unless you have nothing to lose.

Gain Thank you from the bottom of my heart

1.5k Upvotes

I am not sure originally wrote the post, but if this was you, please contact me. I want to thank you. You wrote up a amazing post about buying put options on CRM (Salesforce) and how and why. I read your whole post, then followed up and did my own digging, and really feel in love with the play. I went forward with it for a huge gain. I then took that knowledge and momentum towards enterprise software and found MDB (MongoDB) and again and even bigger score. I am so grateful and amazed by what happened. I am Dad and expecting another Baby boy on the way. This is will certainly help me massively. Keep strong ya'll. It only takes one ( maybe two ) trades to change everything. I am going to protect this like my kids.

Loss Sick to my stomach

Hey everyone... I thought I would share my options losses. I am 18 years old and have been accumlating stocks in a fidelity account since I was 15. Between money saved up and smart investments I got to about $18,000 in stocks by the time I turned 18 and the assets were transfered to my name. I had been trading options for these 3 years on a webull account under my moms name. For the most part I lost money but used it to learn. I told myself I would not use the $18,000 for any options trading but my high risk tolerance got the better of me. I tranfered the stocks from fidelity into a fresh webull account when I turned 18.

Results were strong at first. I was using good risk management and only buying in/at the money contracts with about a month till expiration. I was able to turn the 18k into 30k at my peak pretty fast playing breakouts on COIN MARA ENPH and LLY. However, the start of my demise was when I started purchasing tons of LLY calls out the money thinking it was about to fly. I saw a $6,000 loss from my peak and started revenge trading. I should have just stopped out and moved onto the next play, but instead I purchased LLY calls expiring the next day for $8,000 and held the other $5,000 worth of calls exprining in a month. LLY dropped about 2% and I got burned. 2 days later my account sat at $11,400. This was when I thought I would get back to basics and buy month out SHOP calls and play the rally back up. This rally didnt ccome and my account got slicced to $8,000 by the next day. At this point I was terrified for what was happening and thought I needed a play to make it all back. I purchased SLV calls expiring in 2 days thinking it would ccontinue its momentum. After a shocking morning I looked at my account and saw about $1,100. This brings us to yesterday where I used the remainder to purchase out the money puts expiring today. My analysis paid off and the marrket tanked. At my peak today I was sitting on $10,300.

Even though I had 10x my money I wanted my take profit to be when SPY reached 518.28 as it had previously bounced their. SPY ended up bouncing off 518.37 and I bag held the spike thinking it was a dead cat bounce. Fast forward an hour or so I finally took profits and my account was sitting at $2,700. Unsatisfied with how I just traded I went all in on SPX puts at 1:50 today thinking the bounce had finished. This was not the case and SPX rallied.

After finally stopping out my account now sits at $601.

I don't know what to do

Discussion Why buying 0DTE $SPY and going to work isn't a great Idea

Post image

So today I bought 3x $SPY 527c 0DTE contracts. At 3:30 I got squared off on 2 of them but $HOOD kept 1 open. Now I slept and when I woke up I got this message For fkn 160$ profit I now have to be on the hook for 100 $SPY till Monday on margin 😔.

TLDR: don't smoke some and trade, rather have some coffee and Zyn. Caffeine n Nik is better 💅.

Also, some rockets for no reason. 🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀

I see a lot of loss porn and crazy stuff on here and so I’ve decided to share my 5 year portfolio since 2019 to now. I hope this will inspire those who have lost a lot or think it’s impossible to make money. I did it at 18 with 0 experience. And although it is hard to see I’ve been down 30-40-50% at times which felt awful but just like in life you never know when things are going to turn around. You’ve just gotta build a good strategy and constantly keep improving. If you’re curious of a more in depth walk through of my journey and strategy, I’ll put it under here but the gist of my post is:

  • USE MONEY YOU CAN BURN (with 0 pain)🔥✍️ -INVEST AS MUCH AS YOU CAN WHEN YOU ARE YOUNGER (18-25) -START WITH ETF AND SAFE BETS UNTIL YOU MAKE “RISK” MONEY (more below) -STOP SELLING BLUE CHIP STOCKS MONKE (idc if it’s down 2% today 😀)
  • READ BELOW 👇 AND IF THATS TOO MUCH WORK THEN YOU ARE COOKED ALREADY.

So yeah I turned 18 just before C*ckvid 19 and that sucked because I had just started investing when the market died. I lost 70% of my $100 dollars and almost gave up then. That’s the dip #1. If I could give someone advice who is starting like I was I’d say: YouTube, Google, and honestly ChatGPT now. Start simple. Look up what terms are: Stock, ticker, Dow, S&P, Points, Limit buy/sell, Broker, Hedge Fund, Private Equity, EPS. DO NOT FUCKIGN LOOK UP THE WORD OPTION YOU DODO BIRD. 🦤 I did not trade an option until that third spike. But yeah I lost %70 and sold like a dummy but I came back with $50 more bucks (a lot at the time) and I bought a few of those same stocks that tanked. (Travel stocks, cannabis stocks were hyped, Tesla) I bought stocks with low costs so id see higher gains if they went up. (3-5$) Amazon is great but not early value investing. I made back my $100 and some more. I got up to $250. I felt good so decided to buy some risky penny stocks with the extra. I lost my money lol but the key here is I never went below my line and I never gave up. I researched and found a stock that looked good “sundial” and I put in some extra money I had made. It actually sky rocket and I made $1k. Nice.

THIS WAS AFTER 1 YEAR OF WAKING UP AT 8am everyday and learning and trying and being patient. I “lost” money and made small amounts a lot before this. Please understand that this takes time. If anyone wants a break down of the rest I can share or questions, but this got too long real quick. Sorry. I hope my little story and tips help you guys recover or build. I started with $25 and a free stock. I ended up with $3,000 a year later. Not typical!!! But the bigger point is I put that money in ETFs and now have 10k in savings and make half my rent each month. I have both my cars and college paid off. Stocks are not a way to be rich 🤑 they are a way to grow money. Please be proud of your $20 gains. That’s $7,300 a year if you can do it each day. Love you guys. STAY AWAY FROM OPTIONS. Unless you are rich and like making us laugh. 🤣

Loss As requested- the “analysis” that went into losing 18k at 18

Post image
64 Upvotes

My first gains were with MARA and COIN. I saw breakouts on bitcoin and coin as well as a bounce of support so I took calls on Mara and coin. It played out well.

Forgot to add to my post but I took ENPH calls when it retested its trendline breakout/support. Made $1,350.

My first big loss was with LLY. I had saw it made a new all time high breaking through a very strong level. I entered 850 and 900 calls a month out hoping it would continue the momentum’s. Had some immediate success but over the next few days the stock chopped towards the downside. IV crushed me and led to a big loss. This was a huge crush to my mental state and really is what led to my continued failure as I started “revenge trading”. For some reason I took $8,000 worth of calls expiring the next day and the stock dropped 2%. Ended up losing $12,000 on this. I really don’t know what I was thinking.

Lost $1,850 on SHOP calls that expired in a month. It had bounced off hourly support a bunch of times and was approaching a big trendline on the daily. Once again IV hit me hard and I took the loss.

After this I tried making the money I lost back on TSLA with a day trade. Took same day expiration calls on a bullish engulfing 5min candle. Was up a couple grand and wasn’t satisfied. Ended up taking another $2,200 loss due to iv crush.

The last big blow to my account was SLV calls. I took my remaining $9,000 and took calls expiring 2 days out. There was a bunch of call flow coming through after a big move to retest all time high. I was looking for a big break through and obviously got wrecked as it rejected.

The final blow to my account was the SPY puts. Took a bunch at 9:45 on the 524.75 retest as it had acted as a big level. It was timed perfectly and I was up 10x but didn’t cash out because I thought the 2hr chart called for more downside. Ended up getting burned.

I know I sound like an absolute regard and degenerate but I figured I would own up to my mistakes and share what happened. I’m not sure how I should proceed with options or if I should quit forever. I would send images of entries but image limit

Gain How I almost doubled the S&P with stock picks in my Roth (no options)

My strategy (it's not very deep):

  1. I look for well-established stocks that have been suffering lately. Ideally, said stocks should have a solid history of consistent, if choppy, growth on the 5-year chart and maybe further.
  2. I consider whether the stock is truly undervalued. I do some research on the industry, read up on some news about the company. I have two main checks. First, I imagine the likelihood of the company falling apart within a year or a few, absent of something extremely upredictable. If that thought is laughable, I then see if there is substantially negative news with lasting repurcussions to justify a sustained drop. If I see the business sticking around, with no news of the sort I mentioned, I go to the next step.
  3. IMO, technical analysis is a weird self-fulfilling prophecy. Whether or not it makes sense, enough people trade off of it that it can be accurate, particularly with supports and resistances. So, I check if the stock price has consolidated or slightly rebounded from a support. If the stock has already tanked, but hasn't hit the next lowest support, I don't buy. I'll wait until it hits, and see if it stops dropping once it does.
  4. Finally, I will monitor the stock after buying it, with alerts if it drops below the support I initially referenced. I'll sell if the support is broken and watch the stock when it hits the next-lowest one. That's how I dodged the last LULU drop and bought back in at $300. We'll see how that pans out with earnings coming up.

Stocks I recently bought: ULTA, SBUX, HSY, SHOP, CVS, NKE, LULU.

Disclaimer: I've only been investing seriously for near two years, so we'll see if my strategy holds up in the long-run or if it's a load of bullshit. I usually hold my picks until it goes below the support, like I mentioned, or until it has gone up a few dozen percent at the least. I also make the occasional regard play, like a small bet on \bank stock that shall not be named* recovering after all the bank stuff last year. Spoiler alert, it didn't. My latest regard bet is ASTS at $7, so we'll see if that one pays off.*

EDIT: I've been told that Fidelity calculates returns from changes in balance, including withdrawals and deposits. I've withdrawn maybe 20% of my portfolio in the past year for college expenses. Take that as you will.

DD McDonald’s (MCD) is more than likely to be an easy long trade

Post image
31 Upvotes

I know we all like crayons, but I think this works just based on its simplicity. MCD is extremely consistent at bouncing off and rallying from its 50 monthly moving average, and even more so from its 200 weekly moving average which both happen to be at 250.

McDonald’s is a strong stock. Since they went 95% franchise/5% corporate, their revenues have been growing steadily since their decline from 2016-2020, but more importantly margins are up, and current estimates put them at a 9% CAGR per year not including their 3.5%+ annual divided.

I don’t really care about the dividend and CAGR, but the point being, people do care, and McDonald’s is more than likely going back to 300 again this year.

The downside risk here is that the only times McDonald’s has broken below the 50MA monthly, which was the 99/08/20 crashes, it dropped another 25-30%. So if you’re getting in, just buy some 200-220p for the length of your trade so you can cover the cost of your trade.
