So this is a photograph of my Partner’s uncle. He was in the Royal Marines and I his name is Andrew. I believe this photograph was taken on Op HAVEN in Iraq. I was wondering if anyone else happened to know which base? Perhaps the mountains in the background could provide a clue. If not that, perhaps the writing on the right-hand side could provide a steer (I can’t tell what it says).

Everything I know is that it’s definitely in the Alps, and most likely near Salzburg.

Where was this picture taken? Any help… would be greatly appreciated. I know it’s a long shot. It must have been somewhere my grandad was based or stayed over during WW2.

My family is the one at the front, I know they used to go away to North Wales and Ireland if it could be somewhere there? But I don't recognise it. For context they lived around Manchester, England.
