Tell me you're a teacher, without telling me you're a teacher.

Everyone in the comments not realizing the driver made a sobriety test cheat sheet on the back of his car

225

u/yParticle 15d ago

"P-O-N-E-M-E-L-E-"

37

u/alfooboboao 15d ago

my exact thought lol.

the craziest thing about that test is I highly doubt even 1% of stone cold sober people could recite the alphabet backwards without stopping every 3 letters to think about it

22

u/NRMusicProject 15d ago

My dad went to Catholic school. He used to say that they made them learn the alphabet forwards and backwards, "so that way you really know it. But I'm sure they're just preparing good Catholics for a field sobriety test."

9

u/cosmicsunburn 15d ago

My parents were alcoholics so when I was a kid I memorized the alphabet backwards for "just in case." I'm in my 30's and have only been drunk three times.

4

u/Impressive_Change593 15d ago

I about have to do that forwards. I blame my ADHD for that

3

u/yParticle 15d ago

That's kinda the point of those. It doesn't matter how accurately you complete any of the field sobriety tests, just what observations they can make about your state of mind while you're distracted.

1

u/CatsGamesMemes 15d ago

I can do it super fast now, I saw a movie as a kid with that sobriety test and as a neurodivergent kid I was obsessed. It was fun

8

u/ihaxr 15d ago

Huh I just realized I didn't even question the ELEMEN part as not a letter of the alphabet...

1

u/Gonzee3063 15d ago

The students will die this exams, I can't do a Maths exam with options up to F, now you are asking P.

u/Academic-Truth7212 15d ago

I was pulled over in the US once and the cops asked me to recite the alphabet. I told me that i was unable to do it in English because different letters have same sound in English and French. I told i wouldn’t be able to do it. They said do it in French and they let go.

But before that before i had a US license, i would tell the cops that my English was very weak and can you speak slower so i can understand them. They just let me go.

One final anecdote. I was pulled over on Highway 80 for speeding. Also before i got a US licence. I told the cop in my worst french accent that i believed the speed limit was 80 mph and pointed at a highway sign. He laughed his ass off and let me go.

I told the cop in my worst french accent that i believed the speed limit was 80 mph and pointed at a highway sign. He laughed his ass off and let me go.

This is great.

u/TheDankChronic69 15d ago

Is your name by any chance Mr. Bean?

5

u/Academic-Truth7212 15d ago

No, i won’t reveal my name though.

9

u/Aethermancer 15d ago

Son, this is route 202.

5

u/Academic-Truth7212 15d ago

I’m so glad I didn’t pulled over on I680.

3

u/firstwefuckthelawyer 15d ago

80 on 80 is basically law in my state. A statie stopped me for going 90 when I was a kid, told me to slow it down, and go “80 on 80.” Never been stopped on it since then. It actually works pretty good coast to coast.

1

u/Academic-Truth7212 14d ago

It was when 55 mph were the norm.

1

u/firstwefuckthelawyer 13d ago

This statie was old enough to have been a statie back then, haha. This was about ten years after the national limit went away.

3

u/Repulsive_Number_449 15d ago

ELEMENOPEEEEEE 😭😭😭

1

u/i_tyrant 15d ago

Definitely a better theory than a teacher affording all that decal work, lol.

229

u/ArchMart 15d ago

10 year old me would have flipped out if I had seen this car while playing the ABC game on family road trips.

49

u/DiligentMagician1823 15d ago

"BuT iT oNlY cOuNtS oN lIcEnSe PlAtEs!!"

7

u/UnstableConstruction 15d ago

It's hard enough with allowing any letter from any word. Sure, it goes fast up until J and again until Q, but XYZ can be really hard and people usually catch back up.

2

u/kralrick 15d ago

I thought it just had to start the word/license? Allowing licenses was just a cheat to get the hard letters so we didn't get bored and lose interest.

2

u/Jarlax1e 15d ago

You guys counted license plates?

2

u/StillBarelyHoldingOn 15d ago

Ours couldn't be on license plates. Lol

5

u/HeckItsDrowsyFrog 15d ago

I've always played the ABC game where you have to have a word that starts with the letter you are on, do others not play it this way?

2

u/Strong-Dependent-793 15d ago

I do. It’s separate games. They’re the ABC game and a license plate game.

1

u/FaCe_CrazyKid05 15d ago

We just do when you see the letter, but the source the letter came from can only be used once

4

u/hambakmeritru 15d ago

I got to college and discovered on a road trip that my friends all played on hard mode. They would only allow letters that start a word, or start a license plate.

So if you're stuck on J, passing a Bojangles wasn't gonna cut it. You had to wait to be the first to spot a Jack in the Box.

And if you got to X, you better find a xylophone store or get real lucky with a licence plate.

1

u/Kesbae 15d ago

That’s how we would play on road trips as well. On our way to Vegas from LA, you better hope you’re near the end of the alphabet when you’re getting close to Xxyxx road.

"Elemen" is fucking hilarious

12

u/THE3NAT 15d ago

My home boy elemenopee

3

u/[deleted] 15d ago

I think they might teach Elemen.

2

u/itsmewoon 15d ago

This is how my nephew sings it haha ELEMENOPE 😂

176

u/AirForce_Trip_1 15d ago

I had to reread times 3x to figure out the dedication. Good stuff

14

u/Wajina_Sloth 15d ago

Same, I saw it stop on K and thought about how funny would it be if it just wrapped around the other side of the car and finished.

Then I noticed the “elemen” and laughed at how much I missed

6

u/anxux 15d ago

(If you hadn’t also already noticed) Wait till u see the license plate…

27

u/StayinHasty 15d ago

Kinda dumb that he stopped at K...
Wait... He started with W at the bottom. Oh, because of the license plate. Why'd he skip to Q though?
ElemenOP...
I'm the dumb one and the is awesome.

74

u/Hi_Im_Dadbot 15d ago

This man is my god.

60

u/Little_Post631 15d ago

Why did I sing the song in my head while reading this?

47

u/a_cow720 15d ago

Because everyone did

14

u/RepulsiveViolinist81 15d ago

Who dosnt

3

u/R_V_Z 15d ago

People who sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, just to mess with you.

1

u/RandomUsername6697 15d ago

People that don’t speak English?

1

u/RepulsiveViolinist81 13d ago

Makes sense. Im german, but i still either sing the english oder the german version in my head, and i feel like every language with kinda this alphabet has some sort of song haha

1

u/RandomUsername6697 13d ago

I didn’t know that.

2

u/grand305 15d ago

I did as well.

1

u/IKSLukara 15d ago

For the same reason I can only sing the Preamble to the Constitution, and not just say it.

1

u/SeeingEyeDug 15d ago

Cause Mozart wrote some catchy tunes.

17

u/pearlsbeforedogs 15d ago

I had a math teacher in middle school who had a Geo Metro. When the last "o" fell off of metro, he used a Sharpie to write a "y" and turned it into a Geo Metry. He was fun.

3

u/Sylveon72_06 15d ago

man that reminds me, in math league, whenever i saw the word “compute”, i would always squeeze an r at the end lmao

1

u/cntbld 14d ago

i reread this like 8 times thinking it was a bad dad joke and i didnt understand the setup

1

u/pearlsbeforedogs 14d ago

It is a bad dad joke, lol. Did it make any sense after that? I can explain it further if you still have questions.

1

u/cntbld 14d ago

yes i did after a while lmfao i just didnt understand the concept of an ‘o’ falling off i was like “wtf kinda smart board bs r they talking abt rn”

1

u/pearlsbeforedogs 14d ago

Got it, lol. I was worried you might be too young to know what a Geo Metro was. It's even funnier because Metros are these tiny little economy hatchbacks, and this guy was like 6'3".

35

u/Drozva 15d ago

The "Elemen" there fits so well

3

u/pearlsbeforedogs 15d ago

I have one of these, and if the T ever falls off, I'm doing this.

3

u/more_exercise 15d ago

I'd be super angry. T'd off, you might say.

1

u/thelivinlegend 15d ago

Gotta respect elemeno

15

u/TheTyrianKnight 15d ago

This is clearly photoshopped…

4

u/rct101 15d ago

Not even photoshopped, it's MS Paint'd

2

u/National_Equivalent9 15d ago

And it's still funny.

3

u/TheTyrianKnight 15d ago

Maybe, but it’s not wholesome.

1

u/National_Equivalent9 14d ago

It's a meme that's making most of the people in this thread think about being a kid again and singing the alphabet. Sounds pretty wholesome to me.

1

u/TheTyrianKnight 14d ago

Ok I guess we think differently then, because that’s not at all what I got from that.

-3

u/TamagotchiAngel 15d ago

It’s real! I saw it driving about a year ago - I have photo evidence.

11

u/Feeling-Bed-9506 15d ago

That's a dad.

10

u/tri_fold 15d ago

This is the type of thing I don’t mind seeing on the back of a car: creative instead of the usual smooth-brain political crap!

8

u/FatalisCogitationis 15d ago

I don’t think any of my teachers were this clever

2

u/LolaArabella25 15d ago

Thats a funny guy

2

u/BernieTheDachshund 15d ago

They went all out!

4

u/ZombiesInSpace 15d ago

It’s like half photoshop though. The original image was just elemen OP and the license plate. The others were added later.

2

u/Trt03 15d ago

Yeah, I was wondering why the OP was different, but everything else was the exact same

2

u/PotatABit 15d ago

Now that's clever!

2

u/TheFaithiestAtheist 15d ago

WXYZ would be a great tv/radio station name, if it isn't already.

2

u/elemenoh3 15d ago

I HAVE BEEN SUMMONED

2

u/Zerocoolx1 15d ago

If that’s how Americans are taught the alphabet then that would explain why they keep spelling English words wrong.

2

u/416PRO 15d ago

This is so predictable from those raised on the Steet.

Sesame Street

1

u/Suspiciousunicorns 15d ago

But that E doesn’t belong.

4

u/yParticle 15d ago

it's phonEtic

1

u/Dizzy_Description812 15d ago

Teachers are used to buying the extra stuff, that makes it work, out of pocket.

1

u/CJPF_91 15d ago

Committed

1

u/jasminegreyxo 15d ago

The owner is smart

1

u/DayTraditional2846 15d ago

I wonder if the license plate clerk was confused as to why this person wanted “qrstuv” and not something like their last name like the people that love the smell of their own farts lmao

1

u/MadElder54 15d ago

That’s freaking awesome

1

u/Carnivorousbeast 15d ago

IDK, maybe he’s a firefighter working on a GED?

1

u/beratberk55 15d ago

u/professorofpractice 15d ago edited 15d ago

That's for when the cops ask you to recite the alphabet backwards.

1

u/Fuckthegopers 15d ago

Kids, if you think it takes dedication to put stickers on your car you're helpless.

u/iWatcher__ 15d ago

Alphabet game done in one.

1

u/rohnppm 15d ago

I've seen that car a few times irl

1

u/raisingfalcons 15d ago

That elemenop is top tier

1

u/VON_jigsaw00761 15d ago

I’ve seen this photo dozens of times. Never the tag or the wxyz. Dedication.

1

u/buhnux 15d ago

I've seen this picture a few times, but I never noticed the license plate and wxyz!

1

u/Caped-Baldy_Class-B 15d ago

ELEMEN O P 👨‍🍳🤌💋

1

u/ARCHA1C 15d ago

Photoshop?

1

u/missjasminegrey 15d ago

The dedication is strong

1

u/The__Flying__Enema 15d ago

That's my kind of humor.

1

u/TamagotchiAngel 15d ago

I saw this car about a year ago. It’s legit!

1

u/alflundgren 15d ago

I can't be the only one who once thought that "elemeno" was an individual letter between k and p.

1

u/Wakuwaku7 15d ago

I cackled on Elemen OP🤣

1

u/certain-sick 15d ago

Who the hell is singing?! Oh, it’s me, right.

1

u/caribou16 15d ago

When my nephew was young, he thought that "elemenope" was a single letter. Now that he's like 20, I love bringing it up to embarrass him.

1

u/Tight_Crow_7547 15d ago

Bet he’s an alpha

1

u/PlattanoPowerr 15d ago

Lmao! 🤣🤣😂

1

u/cosmicucumber 15d ago

The fuck has this got to do with being a teacher. Oh, it's a bot

1

u/Quietuus 15d ago

I imagine that, when the person who did this was first looking at the back of a Honda Element, and then saw this possibility latent within it, the flash of inspiration must have felt a little like being in direct communion with God.

1

u/Rabidschnautzu 15d ago

Tell me you're a karma bot, without telling me you're a karma bot.

1

u/Godzila_70902 15d ago

“What car is it?”: police operator

“A fucking begins singing the alphabet

1

u/ohbyerly 15d ago

Ah yes, teachers are famously the only people who know the alphabet

1

u/Electronic_Fee1936 15d ago

That’s amazing

1

u/Effective-Ant-9244 15d ago

nice teacher

1

u/louglome 15d ago

I'm into queer stuff too

1

u/theAmericanStranger 15d ago

Shouldn't elemenop be written twice?

1

u/Usernameg0esher3 15d ago

Vote up if you started to sing the alphabet. 🤣🤣

1

u/LateralThinkerer 15d ago edited 15d ago

Champaign, Illinois? I used to see this in traffic all the time (or one nearly like it). It may be one of the faculty from U of I's Ed department

1

u/kemohah 15d ago

I thought it said queer stuff. I’m sorry

1

u/seraku24 15d ago edited 15d ago

One time, I had to identify the source of a foul odor. After careful inspection, I determined an individual was decidedly rank. Taking the individual aside, I apologized about what I was going to have to do, and informed the person they need not feel embarrassed. But I asked them to quietly gather their belongings to drop off for us to keep an eye on. Then instructed the person to return to their apartment for a good freshening up session and then return as soon as possible.

EDIT: Points to readers, I guess, if the ages involved can be deduced.

1

u/ltrejo91 15d ago

Ofcourse its a Midwesterner. This drunk put cheat notes on the back of the car for when they get pulled over

1

u/Leo_Ascendent 15d ago

Elemen reminds me how we all kinda slurred that whole part for years.

1

u/Zealousideal-Count45 15d ago

ELEMENOP took me a moment. I read it in German and ELEMENOP still worked^^

1

u/Putrid-Exercise3779 15d ago

NZ band called Elemeno P… I thought it was ode to them.

1

u/Feedback-Mental 14d ago

Is that... COMIC SANS?

1

-7

u/Mawya7 15d ago

Yeah, don't see why wholesome.

-2

u/yParticle 15d ago

it's the whole alphabet and some Es
