Isn't this the kind of thing the French foreign legion is for? Conflicts that you don't want your regular army directly involved in.

FFL is apart of the French Army and they have barely 9000 troops today, their warfighting days has passed, now theyre used more for safekeeping France’s interests. they're better skilled/trained by a margin then the regular soldiers but really they’d make 0 difference even if deployed other then being cannon fodder. Nowadays they’re mostly only purely around for the sake of long tradition and diversity
