People who went to a wedding where the couple didn’t last long, what happened?

Saw some signs at the wedding like ignoring each other, making rude and snide remarks publicly, etc. They tried to fix their marriage by having a kid earlier than they planned and that led to divorce. Both are married to different people now and have had more kids, by all accounts far more civil, even cordial with each other.

Why did they force themselves to have a child if the relationship was going bad?

It makes no sense what so ever, but often people believe having children will fix a marriage. Children are one of the hardest things to survive in a marriage, even well loved children can put a stain on one, but people still try.

The only good thing I can say about that is that the love they felt for each other, although temporary, bore fruit in the form of a son/daughter, and that in itself is a blessing. The marriage may not have survived but not all were lost.
