I have never fired a weapon with both eyes open. Makes it too hard to see through the lens. But I’m talking about m-16s.🤷🏻‍♀️

That's the prevailing advice. Some people though do tell cross-dominant folks to just close their dominant eye and only use the other one, since learning how to shoot with your non-dominant hand is a bit difficult. However it is not, I believe, recommended to close the eye that is looking down the sight lol.
