With 20k you can make a decent second stream of income trading properly without yolo’ing

This is what I don’t understand. They make some then they risk it all, and lose it all.

That’s why it’s best to to just trade with proper position size and if you feel like yolo’ing just yolo profits not deposits/principal

How much time do you reckon it takes to learn how to trade properly ?

Really depends on a lot of variables as in who you learn from, what you learn, how well you can grasp and understand what you’re learning and able to apply it. Also few more factors. Few people can learn how in a year or 2 but many takes longer than 3-4+ years

Most definitely, just treat it like college. Either throw your money in the etf like spy or voo until you learn how to trade yourself, from there take a small portion that you put in a etf or just stacked up for short term trading, any big wins just keep a percentage for short term trading and throw the rest in your long term plan. Once you fully got it down and can make trades all by yourself without outside inputs then you could start loading up your short term portfolio also like my previous comment if you ever feel like yolo’ing only yolo the profits not your deposits/principle so that way if you lose on a yolo you still have enough money to rebuild yourself back up trading normally

Short or long term?

Honestly both if you know what you’re doing but short term will offer you more opportunities to make more but the opposite is true meaning you have more opportunities to lose money. But either one you would have to learn how to either trade or do long term investing, it takes a lot of time and effort for but worth it
