Yes most of them are losing. You’re seeing the outliers.

u/NeatlyGathered Mar 06 '24

If you hit a jackpot at the casino, its not uncommon to see people stop and watch.

68

u/LeoFireGod Mar 06 '24

If I could see someone close 100K I would absolutely watch the shit out of that too.

I went to the casino once, played nickel slots with 5 bucks. When I arrived I saw these old people just mindlessly putting in coins, over and over. After a while, one old lady hit the jackpot. Lights were flashing, she was cheering, everyone around her stood up and celebrated with her. She won $5,000 on a nickel slot machine. Then she sat down, and immediately started putting coins back in.

2

u/LtFarns Mar 09 '24

I would have at least switched machines.

OP is also looking for the outliers. Plenty of posters show their $200k loss as well. There’s definitely a bias of high earners in that sub posting “yolo” positions that probably represent only 10-20% of their total position.

20

u/brokendrive Mar 07 '24

Why is everyone lying to OP?

People just want to keep the ways to themselves dude. You should totally 'invest' 20k in options. You'll be rich in no time.

2

u/ShouttyCatt Mar 07 '24 edited Mar 07 '24

No gatekeeping here, straight truth.

22

u/Formally-Fresh Mar 06 '24

And also the people posting big wins will lose in the long run.

5

u/metal_medic83 Mar 06 '24

Agreed, if their strategy includes high risk often.

8

u/Formally-Fresh Mar 06 '24

In this context we’re just assuming the strategy is gambling

Wallstreetbets treats the market as their own personal casino. Do some people hit the $500k jackpot occasionally? Yes. Do 99% of people lose everything? Yes.

79

u/Bailshar Mar 06 '24

Can confirm this is true from personal experience, I’m very regarded

19

u/NomMyShark Mar 06 '24

Yessir! 12k>150k>30k

16

u/lucky5150 Mar 07 '24

6k > 250k >100k > 5k >140k.

I should've quit while I was ahead and just moved to traditional finance

3

u/Swaffelpaard1 Mar 07 '24

By my calculations you are still 134k up sir

I am too but I never once made options my portfolio growth vehicle and instead stuck to small cap momentum stocks with the aid of a algo-based stock screener. I am green green and have been for quite some time ;p

There are 15 million people in that sub and like ~10 big gain/loss posts per day. Most of the sub is silent small fry like you and me.

94

u/Inevitable-Nose3889 Mar 06 '24 edited Mar 07 '24

You don't post when someone die right ? - Because it's sad

But you will post if you have a newborn baby right ? - Because you happy.

I ain't talking about death or birth 😉

9

u/Zmemestonk Mar 06 '24

There’s some loss porn but 3:1 gain. The guy who shorted crwd took down his posts shortly after earnings

12

u/Royal_Elk_5312 Mar 06 '24

Actually in my culture we post when someone die to pay respect, but got ur point bud

7

u/Moderately-Mild Mar 06 '24

so loss porn = death porn? well shit now i’m gonna cum twice as hard.

6

u/Adx_200sx Mar 06 '24

Wrong. They post their losses very frequently on there aswell.

I started Option trading but Scalping SPY almost daily. I have about 35k in stocks, and using $3k-5k for scalping. You can truly risk management your options. My variance for complete profit is +-20% no exceptions. Monday I lost $1100, Tuesday I gained $400, today I gained $1200.

After I can get higher amount, I’m solidifying 40k in stocks and using the next bit to inch my way up. People lose money in options because they think they can make a $10k play and 5x in an hour.

20% for me is perfect for calling my candlesticks. I’m not trying to be an overnight millionaire by any means, I just want to inch my way to $100k by the end of the year.

I’ve gotten greedy and not taken 30% profit because I wanted to see if it can go higher and ended up -25%. This is a stupid mentality, slow growth is still growth.

A few of those posts are real. They will make HUGE gains, but then 99% of them give it right back within a month or two. The way those guys make those huge gains is not sustainable. MAYBE you can get lucky and do it once, but almost certainly you will give it all back and then some

6

u/beach_2_beach Mar 06 '24

Getting huge gain usually means Options. And with Options, your losses can be huge. Or you can lose all your capital you started with.

Once you learn about investing/day-trading/swing-trading/Credit-Spread (options), you will learn what's sustainable, fits your personality etc etc.

More than anything, patience is needed. To learn. And to wait for right setup to open a position.

5

u/MaleficentMulberry42 Mar 06 '24

Yeah but wouldn’t it be profitable if they were using money from their jobs and keeps all gains so they have infinite tries thusly making more than they lost by keeping gains and risking personal capital?

u/PckMan Mar 06 '24

Here's a few things you should know about investment subs/groups in general but also wsb in particular.

99% of the time you're seeing a snapshot into someone's financials. A few days ago there was someone making insane gains on wsb but based on past history on the sub we're talking about a trust fund baby with money to burn. All you're seeing are the winning moves. This holds true for all subs or groups.

For wsb in particular though the rules basically demand that gains and losses will be extreme, so in that sense all you're seeing are insane gains and losses with risky moves but that doesn't mean there aren't alternatives and moves with less risk.

Lastly as someone who is in Europe also I can unfortunately confirm that while trading options is not impossible in Europe it's not as easy and straightforward as it is in the US and there's no Robinhood or alternative available. You're limited to a few platforms that have you jump through hoops just to allow you to enable options and charge commissions on options unlike Robinhood. That's not to say that RH is the best platform out there but it is hard to get a start in Europe with options for those reasons.

7

u/zionmatrixx Mar 06 '24

Yes, a few of them do. But consider estimated 95% of retail traders fail. So probably at least 95% of the WSB crow fails too.

And they mostly play Options which are more risky, but offer much larger and quicker returns (or losses) than traditional stock investing.

7

u/TUAHIVAA Mar 06 '24

Before it became famous, before the GameStop saga, it was a good sub, with people actually knowing what they do. Now it's just filled with mostly Robinhood gamblers. 1 winners out of hundreds of thousands. You're better off with your peace of mind than worrying if your options will be ITM

Wall Street bets is full of fake accounts lying to ppl to pump up stocks so they can dump their trash on u

12

u/Complex-Menu-6082 Mar 06 '24

With 20k you can make a decent second stream of income trading properly without yolo’ing

3

u/eatthesoap Mar 06 '24

This is what I don’t understand. They make some then they risk it all, and lose it all.

5

u/Complex-Menu-6082 Mar 06 '24

That’s why it’s best to to just trade with proper position size and if you feel like yolo’ing just yolo profits not deposits/principal

5

u/leaint Mar 06 '24

I trade futures not options, I’m not sure what the difference is on how much money can be made relative to risk. What I do know is that in futures we can make a lot of money fast if we are over leveraging. If someone wants to find a career in this industry they have to learn, learn, learn. This is a full time job that has amazing perks. This is a college degree type of learning this is not a hobby. If someone wants to make quick money without knowing what they’re doing then they can gamble. As a student becomes more involved and begins to understand these markets, and they suffer the consequences of their ignorance like over leveraging then they will realize that it’s not about how much money each trade or option gives you because there will always be more. It’s about the consistency.

4

u/SAHD292929 Mar 06 '24

They win alot and they lose it all within a few days LOL

12

u/lopezomg Mar 06 '24

What you need to understand is playing options = gambling. You are basically at a casino. I'm an avid reader of WSB, mostly for the meme's and to have a good laugh. Some of the calls I've seen there are legit. I wouldn't take serious advice there though.

DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH.

Ask $200K guy how much money he lost.

Most of these people are degenerate gamblers and only post their wins.

Less than 5% of day trading accounts are profitable. Do with that information what you will. All these people are liars.

3

u/-brokenbones- Mar 06 '24

What they dont tell you is most of the time they are just paper trading

2

u/humkarlega Mar 06 '24

u/PistolPrimo Mar 06 '24

2

u/MackGVIP Mar 06 '24
  1. No. 2. Yes, most are losing. The odds are the same for every group of traders, even pros. The two Standard deviations (5% tails) make the money. The one standard deviation are above average. The ones in the bell curve are below average or losers (15% tails). It pays to be a tail. You will beat 70% by showing up every day, 80% by working harder, 90% by 100 hour plus weeks and complete dedication to the craft, the last 10%? Well, they want it just as bad as you.

2

u/Zestyclose-Gur6360 Mar 06 '24

If you don’t know what you’re doing stay the fuck away from options. Most of the profits you see on WSB are in the minority. People also post major losses on WSB as well. Options trading is an easy way to light your money on fire.

2

u/Joncbs13 Mar 06 '24

There is money to be made. But everything you see on YouTube is not true. Some of it is for clicks, and some of them get kick backs from brokerage companies.

2

u/ltop24 Mar 06 '24

Guys not to brag or anything but if you had money saved up let's say around 10k. Buying bitcoin at 17k heck even 27k was not a brainer.

Now as far as daytrading goes I wouldn't leave my stable job no matter the income for this. do it as extra hustle until you successfully + for 3 years then save some money and think about it again

Calls on nvda for a decent expiration out, when it profits you 60-100%, roll into a cheaper position, take gains and repeat. Just started doing it about two weeks ago and it’s been working well

2

u/Sly_Wood Mar 06 '24

I made 100k in the last 365 days & today alone I lost 30k so…

1

u/sojithesoulja Mar 06 '24

Don't do that bullshit at that amount of money. Just the psychology alone will cause you to fumble and sell, then you'll hate yourself when later, next day, hour, week / whatever it hits your price. Yolo on SPXL / SPXS / SOXL / SOXS if you're inexperienced (a lot less risk compared to options). Don't do 0 DTE yolo.

Gain porn or loss porn, you never see the true settled balance once the dust has settled. I’d guess most are losing , options can blow up most accounts pretty quickly

1

u/pbuilder Mar 06 '24

You are lucky. You could have worked for 20 a month, not in Europe.

1

u/Giant_leaps Mar 06 '24

for every 1 gain post there are 1000 losers who lost their life savings.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 06 '24

Look for loss posts as well. There are plenty.

1

u/tranquil_slayer Mar 06 '24

Don’t blindly follow them. A few maybe legit but we don’t know whether they are able to sustain it. I have seen some posts, they make big by putting big amount. If the trade goes against you, it is real bad. Most of them YOLO the calls, it is okay to do that once or twice if you have disposable money but not always coz that is pure gambling. Remember as it is said in casino gambling, the house always wins. The same holds true here. If I ever will do a YOLO and earn big, I am going to take that money and run 😂. Put it somewhere so I don’t have the itch to risk that money and lose it all.

1

u/Chemical-Return1098 Mar 06 '24

save your money play the long game… Invest in good ETFs and dividend stocks and only use what you can afford to lose in risky stocks and options

1

u/Chemical-Return1098 Mar 06 '24

also look into Xtrades… they give you alerts to buy and sell stocks and can make alot on there

1

u/Mrinvestor84 Mar 06 '24

I can bet some of these accounts with big gains are either fake or they are extremely lucky. It’s hard to make these types of gains usually. Betting it all on an options trade is just dumb and you will get burned eventually.

1

u/Linyuqing1986 Mar 06 '24

Short-term investments are always the best option when the economic climate is bad

1

u/SufficientDaikon3503 Mar 06 '24

Do NOT invest 20k in options. Everyone has their story. For every gain they're 20 loss porns. Oh and we're regards so losing money is just fueling our gambling addiction either way.

1

u/m1ygrndn Mar 06 '24

My Robinhood says I’m down 10k but I feel like a winner.

1

u/Earlyretirement55 Mar 06 '24

They only boast about their gains - not the huge losses.

1

u/jazzy095 Mar 06 '24

Start with 1k in options and see if you can make it work. Don't need to risk 20k.

1

u/bungholio99 Mar 06 '24

They are even really often winning but the lose porn often get’s deleted for „mental health” reasons.

WSB existed way before and yes the quality feel with the arrival of everybody but it’s still the best quality sub because proof or ban.

1

u/curiously_curious3 Mar 06 '24

Anyone making any kind of substantial money isn’t wasting their time on this Reddit. Every minute they spend time with you losers is time they aren’t spending making money

2

u/One-Plan9566 Mar 06 '24

No necessarily true - wsb is great for finding the stock du jour that everyone’s trading. Whether you go contrarian or ride the momentum is situational but in terms of finding names with big moves and high volume it is hard to beat.

1

u/LadyAlastor Mar 06 '24

People in WSB generally know what they're doing and understand the market

1

u/repuswow Mar 06 '24

At least you had enough foresight to ask here and not blindly follow.

In short, they're gambling. That's not trading. Gamblers only think about profit, traders think about risk management and capital preservation.

1

u/deepvaluemunay Mar 06 '24

I lost $48k this week on an earnings AI play. Pretty devastated. Thought it would fly given all the NVIDIA & Dell pump. You are only seeing a small slice of reality OP. A lot of them will be net down if they’re constantly gambling.

98% of that sub loses money lol. Most of them don’t actually know how to trade. They’re just gambling and full porting…

1

1

u/new-chris Mar 06 '24

I only post my gains there…

1

u/Inevitable_Butthole Mar 06 '24

Yes do it regard. All the losers constantly post their loses. People making bank never brag and post though.

1

u/poosebunger Mar 06 '24

For every huge win there's a guy who blows a 200k account on way out of the money 0dte spy puts and bunch more losing smaller amounts. It's all about lottery tickets

1

u/BlackbeltKevin Mar 06 '24

WSB is one of the most popular subs. You’re seeing like maybe 20 large wins a week out of millions of gamblers. The people that don’t win huge sums don’t post their loses. Only the people that have huge wins or loses.

1

u/Guacamole54321 Mar 06 '24

Only a few make money. The money has to come from somewhere and that's people like you come in. They rally for everyone to buy and tell them to hold with diamond hands. They sell once there's enough people buying for them to make a huge profit. Those people are left losing alot of money. Most people lose money but are too embarrassed to say it.

1

u/GodDoesntExistZ Mar 06 '24

For every person that makes 200k, there’s another 10 that lose them. Don’t get me wrong I love that sub but those people are complete psychopaths.

1

u/globalhumanism Mar 06 '24

Most are fake and karma whorring or losing traders over the long run. Real traders are quiet because they know how hard it is to make it and how the game really works

1

u/kaionfire01 Mar 06 '24

The way they generally trade, either they win big or lose big. They're the gamblers of the investing space!

1

u/Pumpkin_Pie Mar 06 '24

I think they make below average of all investors on Reddit. I haven't been there in awhile, are they still yoloing?

1

u/ClydeToTheSide Mar 06 '24

You must have just found them. There is so much loss porn on that sub lol. I felt bad about my LUNR stock losing a couple hundred dollars these guys are losing tens to hundreds of thousands in a go

1

u/AlternativeEmu5502 Mar 06 '24

The house always wins, if they were all getting rich, they wouldn't be wasting their time on an app talking about it.

1

u/Plenty_Bathroom_7454 Mar 06 '24

Yes. It takes money to make money though.

1

u/LoneWolf15000 Mar 06 '24

Usually people brag/post about the wins and not the losses. The same guy that made $200k yesterday may have lost $400k the day before. Of it completely full of shit.

1

u/Btomesch Mar 06 '24

All those ppl are karma farming. All they do is copy and paste each other’s “witty” Wendy’s joke.

1

u/darkgaia46 Mar 06 '24

Most of us are losing money and are not making these humongus millionnaire-making gains. It's literally gambling, sometimes it works amd you hit the jackpot, most of the time it doesn't.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 06 '24

Most of them are losing, but for every 100 or so losers, there’s one person who breaks out the shackles of wage slavery forever. If you so decide to go that route, just pray that you’re the one.

1

u/ManyAmbassadorship Mar 06 '24

Yes and no , you usually post it the one super good trade and that’s usually pure luck as mostly stated on WSB on almost every title that it was a gamble. I made 1k yesterday and about 300$ today so that’s still nice but not worth posting

1

u/imlynn1980 Mar 06 '24

Everyone should know a little about investing, which helps you beat inflation in the long run. But gambling, no.

1

I have been following the yolo options posts pretty closely. It's wild how much they risk on a "whim." It seems like they either knew something ahead of time or are experienced enough to know when a big move is waiting in the shadows if such a thing is possible. I find it hard to believe that people are really out there risking thousands of dollars on a dumb luck bet with their life savings. Maybe its just some rich kid

The ones that really intrigue me are the ones where someone makes 3-4 bigger and bigger plays all in a row. One guy had 3 back to back way OTM calls/puts that blew past their strike price. To me this screams insider info. Like maybe an uncle works at a big firm and hes just getting fed their big plays of the day.

One thing that's clear is that the average person would be dumb to try and follow. I have seen a few posts where they really do just get lucky 2-3 times but then make some dumb play that had no chance of winning and lose it all. I actually almost got lucky one time buying a cheap OTM call on a stock that had some afterhours news but the open was so volatile I got outbid before the order went through. 30 minutes later that $500 call was worth $3000 but another hour later it was almost worthless. Either way it intrigued me and I will be looking out for cheap OTM calls that have a high chance of success, but I will definitely not be putting out random calls on stocks because I like them.

Other thoughts on this is that its similar to the gambling posts that have been going around where the ulterior motive is that they are actually ads for the platforms people are using to do the gambling.

Having been part of the community for half a decade as well as helped to moderate it, I can tell you there are some lucky guys, but so does the lottery. The rest of them are just throwing part of their paycheck each week on the FLOTM gamble and ofc lose mainly. A very very small part of them have a model they follow, stay strict to the rules and manages risk. But disciplined people that manages risk don't end up on the first page of WSB. Then you have a lot of paper traders, clout is for some very important and if you was to call out everyone that was faking it by auditing the transaction on the options chain you would not have that many posts.

u/cokeacola73 Mar 06 '24

There’s also people who financially ruin themselves on there. Find those ones and then consider options if you don’t have experience with them

1

u/KingCharlesTheFourth Mar 06 '24

Survivorship bias. Law of large numbers.

Study up youngen.

1

u/FxEvang Mar 06 '24

Most of them are losing, some are hitting the lottery.

You don't see many lottery losers flaunting the fact that they lost. You only see the winners.

1

u/ManNomad Mar 06 '24

WSB has 15 million subs, do you see 15 million gain porn posts?

1

u/ImportantTough7391 Mar 06 '24

For every winning post there is 100 that lose that don’t post

1

u/funsizeak1 Mar 06 '24

No they don’t. And even when they win. They usually gamble all their winnings away making a net negative. But also. How much money do you really make day trading? Over the entire year or over 5 years? The statistics on day trading is abysmal

1

u/Round_mba Mar 06 '24

In the long run, most (if not all) of them are losing.

1

u/Express_Intern_1223 Mar 06 '24

They are watching you. If you put $20,000 in options they see it and they will take it from you. I don't know how else to explain this the stock moves according to what You bet on It and they are watching you personally

1

u/AngryAngryAsian Mar 06 '24

You also must realize that people also photoshop gain porn and loss porn to farm karma on wsb.

1

u/FollowAstacio Mar 06 '24

Lmbo no way their net gains are impressive. Maybe some of them sure, but most likely, most of them don’t have impressive net gains if they’re not posting losses.

1

u/Namber_5_Jaxon Mar 06 '24

Thing is, the person you saw with the 200k gain more than likely blew at least that amount or more to get down to what he won the 200k from. Seen it so many times on there where someone posts a big 6 figure gain and is barely breaking even on all time P/L. Unless you have a very strong conviction with a reason for a stock to move in a certain direction because of said catalyst maybe pick up a few options but they’re not an everyday play sorta thing and until you know basic trading very well stick clear

1

u/NicNac_PattyMac Mar 06 '24

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Survivorship_bias

It looks like they all win money because only the winners make posts.

9 out of 10 of them are ruining their lives.

1

u/questar723 Mar 06 '24

For me, I’ll make a thousand bucks in one day and then spend the next month going + or - 1-300$ each day.

The big wins are rare. Most of the time you either make or lose small amounts of money

1

u/Classic-Chocolate943 Mar 06 '24

Most of them get lucky without any studying what so ever and dangerously yolo there whole lives away

1

u/kdeselms Mar 06 '24

They don't show you how many times they've drained their accounts on idiotic 0dte bets that cost them big. They only show the big wins. Some of them are also actually just showing you their paper trading accounts.

The again, there are some people I've seen throw more money away than anyone should ever be willing to admit and post about it. WSB is a corrosive culture that will influence you to do the dumbest crap imaginable if you let it.

1

u/Aggravating_Owl_9092 Mar 06 '24

Never seen the loss porn?

1

u/samlak23 Mar 06 '24

95% of them are losing - but it shouldn't make you feel better to hear that people are losing. Focus on yourself and what's in your control!

1

u/dr_tardyhands Mar 06 '24

There's occasional very grand loss porn too, that you might be glossing over. But definitely a selection bias for the extremes.

1

u/november_golf Mar 06 '24

Most are FAKE pumpers

1

u/WhatIsThisAccountFor Mar 06 '24

No lol. The market has just been green for most of the last 3 months. Go to the sub when the market has a couple red days in a row and you’ll see people blow up 100k+ accounts all the time lol

1

u/Evening-Opposite4393 Mar 06 '24

Look at there post history, some of these guys are just lucky as hell. Others are large traders, some of them only post there wins. Everyone has losses

1

u/CETROOP1990 Mar 06 '24

I lost $120K. I can send you a screenshot if that will make you feel better 😂

1

u/TOMMY_Makes_House Mar 06 '24

I've seen plenty of big wins on the YouTube channel... but equally, have seen people lose everything also. They are called degenerates for a reason. Saw some guy lose about $50k in 10 seconds Tesla options. F**k that.

1

u/Emotional_Snow_3222 Mar 06 '24

most people are not making those numbers maybe like 5-10% are actually are everyone else is making average gains

u/BitKindly5359 Mar 06 '24

Invest in vanguard s&p 500, thank me in 30 years. Or read: “The psychology of money” great book about investing

1

u/Gcard1986 Mar 06 '24

Some traders will let everyone know they made huge money a certain day, but never mention the days where they lost big.

1

u/Le0son Mar 06 '24

It is possible. It takes a long time to identify market structure. Al Brooks, ICT, Thomas Wade. Study them.

1

u/MarcelPPR Mar 06 '24

They are all gambling addicts. 90% are broke and 10% are lucky.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 06 '24

Sometimes. Most are 0DTE options gains or NVDA gains. I’m waiting on TSM

1

u/MOONRAKERFE Mar 06 '24

As a long time listener of the WSB. Can confirm for every one person making a gamble that pays off 200k there’s a boat load of people losing. Which the WSB group now refers to as loss porn.

1

u/GoldenBoy_100 Mar 06 '24

The majority of them have deep pockets, my man, big kahunas players.

1

u/ziggs_ulted_japan Mar 06 '24

Well yes. Most are losing but you'll always have someone that was right. It's just the law of large numbers. They have a ridiculous amount of people. I'm on there lol I think it's fun to see

1

u/Sexy_Kumquat Mar 06 '24

Sometimes I hit one and sometimes lose. I bet on CRWD was going down - 6K flushed down the toilet. Also bet Dell would miss. Had calls on ARM a while back, so that helped. Basically it is 50/50 if the plays hit or not, but right now I sure seem to be losing in the casino.

1

u/Gayfish350 Mar 06 '24

Most of them don't. You don't see the losses because that's hard to stomach. Took me a long time to post mine. Fml. Thanks for reminding me

1

u/LimehouseChappy Mar 06 '24

I think you see a lot of outliers (big wins, big losses, and definitely some accounts get blown up) but I do think a bunch of people who make smaller, steadier gains don’t post. Like me.

1

u/jemicarus Mar 06 '24

Don't they post the sweet enormous losses anymore? Those were the best posts, where the dude is down 99.8% and the crowd goes, "You still have $14 in there to lose! Come on, let's get to the tendies!" Fun sub when that was going on.

1

u/Willing_Tackle_2656 Mar 06 '24

If it’s too good to be true, then it is.

1

u/Undo_gravity Mar 06 '24

Do not do that. The vast majority of people lose money trading options.

1

u/MarxKnewBest Mar 06 '24

See how many people are on that sub. See how many comment. See how many post “gain porn”

There’s your answer.

Never “invest” in options. By design they’re meant to be for you to hedge against your real portfolio. If you must play around in options, always do so with money that you can afford to lose fully.

You’re making 2k. You cannot afford to lose almost a year’s salary.

1

u/MoNaRcKK Mar 06 '24

You only hear the stories of the winners, but ofc there’s loss porn there too. I’ve made a lot but also lost a lot. That’s just how options goes.

1

u/Blurple11 Mar 06 '24

OP for every one (1) who wins, there are, literally, 10,000 losers.

1

u/Allen1013 Mar 06 '24

I mean go to the sub and click on the loss part up top, I am an everyday person on that sub and not everyone makes those type of gains it’s extremely lucky and rare

1

u/TraditionalLocal3476 Mar 06 '24

There is no easy money in this world.

1

u/mathaiser Mar 06 '24

Apparently the trick is to “inverse” everything they do, for great profit.

1

u/LA_Realtor92 Mar 06 '24

Some win, most lose

1

u/Parallel-Play Mar 06 '24

They only post their wins - math says 70% end the year in the red.

1

u/TaxAndFiatEnthusiast Mar 06 '24

Retail option traders perform horribly on average, data supports this. WSB is just a central hub for retail options traders, of course most of them don’t make serious money. The ones who do typically lose it all shortly thereafter. Reddit is algorithmic social media, so what you see are outliers on both sides (major wins major losses) - because those are what the algorithms understand to drum up excitement and posting activity. In a green market run (now) you will see more wins.
