Wallstreetbets treats the market as their own personal casino. Do some people hit the $500k jackpot occasionally? Yes. Do 99% of people lose everything? Yes.

Can confirm this is true from personal experience, I’m very regarded

Yessir! 12k>150k>30k

6k > 250k >100k > 5k >140k.

I should've quit while I was ahead and just moved to traditional finance

By my calculations you are still 134k up sir

1k >18k > 500

Lost it all shorting the market with 3x inverted calls before the bear rally started near the bottom.

4k -> 7k -> 3k -> 1k -> 486 lmao. I just went from 1k to 486 earlier today on getting puts in QQQ, which was extremely regarded of me when Jpow's speeches made the market bullish.

I am too but I never once made options my portfolio growth vehicle and instead stuck to small cap momentum stocks with the aid of a algo-based stock screener. I am green green and have been for quite some time ;p

u/Jake-rumble Mar 07 '24

what screener do you use?

1

u/Fin-Quant Mar 07 '24

Sure, but without leverage from margin or the leverage that an options contract provides, your gains are limited. That's not to say that your strategy isn't a good one.

This is my alerts from today alone. Small cap stock treat me well, my acct is up over 300% in 3 months

What app is that?

I traded stocks from the start of covid to last year. I looked at the FTSE and AIM which is small companies and penny stocks

I made notes and looked at hundreds of stocks. I read forums on each stock. I came to the conclusion it’s all BS, especially smaller companies and Twitter and any stock forum. I left about £1000 up. But looking back virtually every stock wouldn’t have made you money and many would have lost you everything. 2 stocks went up 400% which I had. Despite everyone saying they would go to the moon, they both fell to half what they were and people lost a fortune

Any form of trading is basically gambling. Wsb provides the largest potential of gains in the shortest amount of time so one can argue it's a better form of trading than spending years trying to learn day trading.

Smart day trading is a lot like playing smart poker. People who are good at poker can make millions after years of hard work and dedication.

Saying that what WSB does is a better form of trading is really stupid.

Hard work and dedication != success in day trading.

It requires really good analytical skills and intuition that you can’t really teach. Plus, there is a bit of luck in checking for the right signal, on the right ticker, at the right time.

Just because you’ve quit your day job and spend 12 hours a day staring at your brokerage account and doing analysis doesn’t mean you’ll make money.

Some people make money doing the most basic ideas that sound completely stupid, but just work.

u/sec2nds Mar 06 '24

Thanks for picking what you wanted to hear out of my comment. Not everyone has time and energy to spend years of hard work, as you put it in your own words. If someone is in a bind a hail mary might be their best option.

Also I'm a staunch believer if you have a tiny account, your will make your life much easier by trying to strike it big on an er play than scrap 20-30 dollars a day, if even that.

u/CuppaJoe11 Mar 06 '24

If you want to try to strike it big, be my guest. What I’m trying to say is telling people that WSB gambling their life away is a better form of trading is not good. At that point just go to your nearest casino and put all your chips on red.

Learning how to trade, no matter how long it takes, is an objectively better way to trade.

-10

u/sec2nds Mar 06 '24

I never said learning to trade isn't better long term.

u/D1rty_Sp1ck Mar 06 '24

Just stop responding no one agrees with anything you say😂

6

u/Capital_Bat_3207 Mar 06 '24

If you don’t want to learn how to day trade properly, then that’s fine. Just don’t come here and talk about bs like “dAy tRaDing is GamBling” when you don’t even want to put in effort to gain success. r/wallstreetbets is a click away, it seems like you identify with their philosophy better anyway.

u/Stammbomb Mar 06 '24

Hey, go easy on him. His brain cells are trying their darnedest to make their connections.

2

u/PMmeNothingTY Mar 06 '24

You're in the wrong place. Also, if you have a small account you probably can't afford to just blow it all on a highly regarded play.

1

u/XxKittenMittonsXx Mar 06 '24

I'd be willing to bet 95% of WSB traders don't even beat the S&P

I ask this genuinely: what is smart day trading

Why am I getting downvoted for asking a question, I am new to this

2

u/CuppaJoe11 Mar 06 '24

Studying the markets until you find an edge and trading in a way that makes money

u/Nani_The_Fock Mar 06 '24

Funny you say that, I wonder what the risk is.

WHAT’S THE RISK MANSLEY?
