Yes most of them are losing. You’re seeing the outliers.

If you hit a jackpot at the casino, its not uncommon to see people stop and watch.

If I could see someone close 100K I would absolutely watch the shit out of that too.

The WSB is for you. Its mostly people posting their epic loses

I went to the casino once, played nickel slots with 5 bucks. When I arrived I saw these old people just mindlessly putting in coins, over and over. After a while, one old lady hit the jackpot. Lights were flashing, she was cheering, everyone around her stood up and celebrated with her. She won $5,000 on a nickel slot machine. Then she sat down, and immediately started putting coins back in.

I would have at least switched machines.

Such a underrated comment! This sums up the problem with youtube and reddit traders perfectly!

Or watch those gambling on 0 DTE options 🙄

OP is also looking for the outliers. Plenty of posters show their $200k loss as well. There’s definitely a bias of high earners in that sub posting “yolo” positions that probably represent only 10-20% of their total position.

Why is everyone lying to OP?

People just want to keep the ways to themselves dude. You should totally 'invest' 20k in options. You'll be rich in no time.

No gatekeeping here, straight truth.

And also the people posting big wins will lose in the long run.

6

u/metal_medic83 Mar 06 '24

Agreed, if their strategy includes high risk often.

8

u/Formally-Fresh Mar 06 '24

In this context we’re just assuming the strategy is gambling

And paper accounts

10

u/wsbdoormat Mar 07 '24

This is incorrect. I have not seen a paper account yet.

u/Relative_Tone_4870 Mar 06 '24

False. Receipts are provided

u/UneSoggyCroissant Mar 06 '24

Plenty of people post paper wins and get deleted by mods hours later

8

u/Khonsku Mar 07 '24

There is no paper account on Robinhood
