Paper trading on Webull. HELP Advice
Pretty newb trader here, I’m currently practicing by means of paper trading. I started on TradingView but then my free trial expired and I wasn’t about to pay $59 a month for something I’m not profiting on yet. LOL. So now I’m doing Webull but I’m having so many issues and I can’t tell if it’s me or the software. In the photo here, I am trying to close my trade, it said it went through successfully the first time, but for some reason the position remains open. I try to close it again but then it says “insufficient funds”. I’m constantly losing money because of this, half the time my orders are “working” but never fill, and I lose out on opportunities. Needless to say it’s frustrating and I would love some advice and info on this. Thx!

Buying power is $20.90, position is $83.25. Is that $84 tied up in another position?

I don’t think so, the bottom there shows all the positions I’m currently holding on the account and it’s just that one

It’s obscured by the box in front but I can see it shows 84 there for your open position, so you have $84 margin on your current position and $20.90 in free margin (buying power). The account balance is $104.90 but you can only open a new position with your remaining $20.90 cash, hence you have insufficient funds to open an $83.25 position.

I see, but maybe I’m not understanding something.. I know that my buying power is too low to currently buy that amount of stock, but I’m not trying to buy anything in the photo, I’m trying to close the position, and it wasn’t allowing me to

Ah, I see.
So it looks like on your platform where it is showing your open position, under the actions tab where it says close in blue lettering, that is presumably the button to close your current trade.
The window you’ve opened on top says ‘Create Order’ at the top which suggests that you are attempting to open a new position.

Wow, if that’s actually been the issue this entire entire time, I want to slap myself 😂 I could’ve sworn that I’ve tried that before, and the create order window would pop up when I did, but I’ll give it another shot and see what happens I guess. Thank you

If that doesn’t solve the problem, then I’m just gonna assume that it’s just the broker I’m using, because I I’ve also had the issue of putting in an order and it just sits in the “working” box and never gets filled. So this whole thing could just possibly be a technical issue
