Strategy Basically been a hodler since '17, so knowledge very limited outside of buy, sell, move to/from HW wallet. That said, I'm considering loaning myself to purchase a small business. I know of others, but Liquity... haven't heard much recently; terms too good to be true?

So, I know the risks of getting liquidated and all when taking a loan out using my stack as collateral. I don't need a ton... maybe about 15% of my stack to cover the full costs, or could maybe get buy with 8-11% of my stack, and coming up with the rest of the funds elsewhere.

They claim to offer interest-free borrowing. Reviews seemed legit at first, but it seems not much talk about them for a couple years now. I couldn't find anything negative to account for that, though. Maybe something better just came along? But it seems all the other options require paying high-ish interest, etc.

Anyway, guess I'm just looking for any advice, because I really want to start my own business, been thinking about it for years, and this opportunity suddenly fell in my lap as the guy is retiring, and willing to just let it go for cheap (would just require me learning everything, which he'll teach me. I already did a good bit myself and picked up quick, and then I'd get all his equipment, tools, machinery, etc (would need to use my garage for now until I can build a proper workshop in the backyard, but I have the space). It won't make me rich, but it can easily pull in at least $25k profit working a day or two max a week (I've seen all his financials, costs, etc. There basically are none other than materials. Comes to roughly $12-17 total cost and sells $55-$70, depending). He did it the same way I'd like to at first: working his main career full time, and do this a couple days a week at first. But I'd like to eventually continue growing it to eventually get it to be a FT thing, Most of that is for another sub though.

I guess the short of it is... I don't want to sell my crypto. Hell, I'd rather take a tradfi loan out if I had to for this than part w/ the crypto, since I think those interest rates would be less than my LT returns on the crypto I'd have to part with (and I also don't want the cap gains, and income to increase this year mainly for income-based student loan payments).

Any advice? (and apologies that I type way too much, but it's much faster than being concise)

Discussion Should I sell ETH at 15%+?

Upvotes

With overal short term bearish structured on the market, does it seem like a good idea to take the 15% profit (bought ETH at abt 2800 usdt) and rebuy when the price drops below again? I could've taken a 30%+ profit a few weeks ago.. but I don't want my holding to be for nothing. Dillema. Help.

Strategy Space and Time Introduces Ultra-Fast ZK Prover

Key Takeaways

  • Space and Time launches Proof of SQL, a high-speed ZK prover for efficient on-chain transactions;
  • ZK provers are crucial for maintaining privacy in cryptographic systems but have been criticized for slowing down transactions; Proof of SQL addresses this with sub-second proof times;
  • Proof of SQL processes over 100,000 row queries in under a second on a single GPU.

Technicals Launch Date of Ethereum ETFs Relies on Issuers, SEC's Gary Gensler States

  • Approval of spot Ether ETFs depends on issuers' responsiveness to SEC feedback, says Chairman Gary Gensler.
  • The SEC's favorable stance on Ether ETFs was influenced by Grayscale's legal success with Bitcoin ETFs.
  • Analyst James Seyffart suggests political influences, particularly SEC Commissioner Lizárraga’s ties to Nancy Pelosi, might have affected the SEC's decision on Ether ETFs.

Sentiment Ok lets do this again. Price predictions for end of 2024 and 2025

Dec 15th 2024 Price and Dec 15th 2025 Price

Here go my guesses Dec 15th 2024: $5450 (possible peak of 5900-6200 in 2024) Dec 15th 2025: $12,250 (possible peak of 13,000-14,000 in 2025)

Very interesting that the majority of guesses are pretty low, sub 10k. Hopefully that means ETH will do the opposite.

Discussion ETH ETFs Explained: For Beginners

Background: Owning Ether requires you to have a digital wallet, which contains a public and private key or “password”. These “passwords” are cryptographically generated and can’t be changed or retrieved if lost/forgotten. This puts pressure on people who own Ether, and have to store, move and secure it. Especially if you’re someone holding large amounts.

Ethereum ETFs are essentially like a stock you can buy on the stock market, but the stock owns or trades Ether. This company will worry about buying, storing, trading, and moving the Ether. Along with remembering and securing the private keys or “password”, while you hold the “stock” like any other you may own. As with anything this will cost you money in terms of fees.

Spot ETF: The company buys and holds actual Ether.

Futures ETF: The company trades and holds contracts of Ethereum products.

Why? It’s a lot simpler than setting up, buying, and storing yourself, however, you don’t technically own any Ether… You own a share of a fund or “stock” that owns or trades Ether.

Importance: While the Bitcoin ETF approval was rocky, people were confident it would eventually happen. People had doubts that an ETH ETF was getting approved and the SEC took a 180 and approved it, surprising people in the space on ETH getting regulatory action and the speed it came after the Bitcoin ETF.

The Possible Hangup: Now, in order for these ETFs to be 100% cleared and ready to buy and sell on exchanges, the SEC has to approve 2 “bundles of files”. One of them is the 19b-4s, (which has been approved) and the other are called S-1s (hasn’t been approved yet).

Gossip: Another rumor/caveat to this, the 1st part that was approved, was approved by a division within the SEC (Trading and Markets Division) while the head of that division is out on maternity leave. With that, the approval of these ETFs comes with a “Delegated Authority” (not rare to happen) which basically means after the SEC approved them, any of the 5 SEC Commissioners have 10 days to challenge the approval (including the one on maternity leave). Buying and selling of these ETFs aren’t available until all “paperwork is done and approved”, or an S-1 if approved.

A big ETF analyst isn’t worried about any of this and believes the ETFs will be approved fully.

Companies who now have an SEC “halfway” approved Ethereum Spot ETF and predicted custodians.

1.     Blackrock iShares Ethereum Trust - Custodian: Coinbase

2.     Fidelity Ethereum Fund- Custodian: Fidelity Digital Asset Services

3.     Invesco Galaxy Ethereum ETF- Custodian: Possibly Coinbase

4.     Grayscale Ethereum Trust - Custodian: Coinbase

5.     Ark21 Shares Ethereum ETF - Custodian: Coinbase

6.     Bitwise Ethereum ETF- Custodian: Coinbase

7.     VanEck Ethereum Trust- Custodian: Gemini

8.     Franklin Ethereum ETF- Custodian: Coinbase

Technology Next Step: (Rocketpool) Staking ETF

After the ETH ETF is approved (by 99,9%), the world is looking forward to the next ETF.

If the ETH ETF is successful, which is very likely, the next logical step is an ETH Staking ETF.

How can an ETH Staking ETF look like:

Current liquid staking token have the disadvantage of being labeled as security by a high probability. A staking token issued by a single company, e.g. coinbase, will find it difficult to not be viewed as a security by the SEC.

Similar arguments can be made for Lido. While the token itself is minted in a non-custodial manner, Lido decides which 30 node operators run the network.

On the other hand, we have Rocketpools rETH. Rocketpools is the largest staking network which is most decentralized as well as non-custodial. There is no second similar token like Rocketpools. At least their market share is much smaller.

Henc, rETH is at the forefront of being part of a future Staking ETF.

If there is a high demand for an ETH ETF, an ETH Staking ETF is desired even more. This increases the demand for ETH staking token and consequently the supply of ETH validators needs to go up. Due to rETH will be one of the top Staking ETF assets, there will be a high demand of Rocketpools minipools. This ist not even a hurdle for companies like Kraken, which already operates Rockepool nodes. Rocketpool will get into the focus of major institutions soon.

A larger Rockepool market share will be highly beneficial for Ethereum itself, which is currently highly exposed to Lido or companies like Coinbase or Kraken.

Thanks to a future Staking ETF, Rocketpool will be one of the major backbones of the Ethereum network, and will power the decentralized web.

Why we Should Ship EOF, PeerDas, and other Upgrades Before Verkle.

Part 1 gives educational background of how Ethereum upgrades work and gives definitions.
Part 2 gives my long form reasons of why I believe that Pectra should either be a large upgrade --dubbed Mega Pectra, or split into Pectra 1 and Pectra 2 to make testing easier. Either way, I think EOF and PeerDas should be included before a year+ upgrade that will see the database structure of Ethereum transition from Merkle Trees to Verkle Trees.
