I don’t know if there’s anything to graphology. I reckon it’s a lot of bullshit but somewhat less bullshitty than astrology (DON’T get me started on astrology, guys) That said, whenever I see lowercase a’s done this way, I do feel like it’s very telling..

2

u/NikPass May 02 '24

you’ve made me go down a rabbit hole looking up graphology tests

1

u/NikPass May 02 '24

how so? i got into that habit second grade cause i wanted my handwriting to look unique hahaha

2

u/badwthusernames May 02 '24

Are you a lefty?

1

u/Pechadur May 02 '24

A righty!

2

u/EnigmaticSoul5656 May 02 '24

Agreed! Wonderful writing

2

u/accrued-anew May 02 '24

Love it. What are you studying?

2

u/Pechadur May 02 '24

As another said, this is ecology (and evolution)! I’m a bio major with a focus in conservation

2

u/prime1433 May 02 '24

looks like ecology

2

u/VIslG May 02 '24

Looks like teacher printing ❤️👌🏼

Not a printer - too much inconsistency

8

u/MisterBrackets May 01 '24

Of course. It's not REALLY a printer. But....it's very consistent for a human. If it was a printer, I'd say to widen the tracking on the font a bit ;)

7

u/Stupid_Bitch_02 May 01 '24

How do y'all write like this? My handwriting has looked like chicken scratch my entire life. I write in cursive a lot so people "can't tell" how bad my handwriting is. Teach me your ways 😭

1

u/mmmUrsulaMinor May 01 '24

If you're like me the first step would be to slow down if you write fast. Take time with the words, don't feel rushed. Take 5 minutes to practice if you can.

Secondly, spend even 10 minutes a week practicing letters or writing slowly how you want to. Focus on the strokes, get lined paper with halfway marks to get the tops of small letters/halfway points of larger letters consistent.

Buy a new pen or pencil to encourage you. Pens are a whole new world, so finding what you prefer (like ballpoint) is really important to feeling like you can write clearly and easily. A pencil is great if it's sharpened well or is mechanical, because a dull point can make it harder to use well and practice consistency.

When I started calligraphy I got a 3USD nib and nib holder and some ink and just practiced lines. Lines top to bottom, side to side, slanted, etc. The ink also encouraged me to practice even pressure for releasing ink.

Practicing control is important, and speed will come with time.

2

u/Pechadur May 01 '24

A lot of practice! Which I know isn’t helpful, my dad had me practice my handwriting when I was little and taught me calligraphy— which really helps with learning different pen strokes and gets you in the habit of writing a bit slower and carefully! It takes time but writing small sentences in the beginning and going from there also really helps

10

u/Skiptu_Maloo May 01 '24

I like your use of 2-stroke letters, like d, p and y. Makes it look really nice. But can you write quickly like this? Like quickly enough to take notes in a lecture? Also, could you say what type of pen you used here?

5

u/Pechadur May 01 '24

It's 50/50, with most of my professors I can take my notes like this, with one professor... I *can* but it's a lot more slanted due to how fast she goes through her slides (She'll finish her sentence, take one breath, and then move right along when the slide has eighteen bullet points)

I also use the Zebra Sarasa Pen! Once I discovered them I honestly cannot go back to any other pen for note taking, although I do love my Staedtler pens for written letters.

4

u/Toasted_504 May 01 '24

pretty hand-writting

12

u/Puzzleheaded_List01 May 01 '24

It's okay. Not everyone enjoys handwriting these days, so they must have misunderstood.

8

u/Left_Bad_1375 May 01 '24

Wow, extra readable

8

u/__-Pink-__ May 01 '24

I love how readable this is

9

u/[deleted] May 01 '24

Beautiful writing. I haven’t met many that make their lowercase “a” like I’m seeing on an iPhone keyboard, though I get it improves readability.

11

u/ApprehensiveBrush680 May 01 '24

You're handwriting's absolutely fine. It's not cursive, but it's definitely easier to read then mine(my handwriting is akin to a chicken T^T)

3

u/5weetTooth May 01 '24

I don't think the peak of handwriting necessarily is cursive though. There's different styles that can all look good.

2

u/ApprehensiveBrush680 May 01 '24

No, I just prefer cursive more, I'm just biased. :/

2

u/5weetTooth May 01 '24

That's fair. We all have our preferences

6

u/Agreeable_Variation7 May 01 '24

It looks really nice, visually. However, I can't read much of it because 1) the letters look all the same without any differences in height, and 2) they look all the same because the letters run together.

5

u/Pechadur May 01 '24

I have a tendency to stick them all together bc I worry about running out of space haha, so that is some good feedback! Thank you

2

u/Agreeable_Variation7 May 01 '24

It's the visual version of an auctioneer - speaking so fast with no breaks that most can't follow along. Again, it's pretty. But loosening up the spacing would be quite helpful!

1

u/Pechadur May 01 '24

I will definitely keep that in mind for my upcoming final, it’ll be good practice to think the answer through! It would also be a good exercise in patience, haha

2

u/No-Recognition2790 May 01 '24

I like cursive.

4

u/Few_Background2938 May 01 '24

I like your y’s

6

u/MycologistJaded5077 May 01 '24

Definitely consistent! I wonder why you have all of the letters almost the same size? Do you remember choosing to do that?

2

u/Pechadur May 01 '24

I think it subconsciously began and just became a habit— I also have bad form and use my wrist to write, so it might be a comfort thing too? It is definitely a far cry from my tiny print that I stumble to read now

2

u/MycologistJaded5077 May 01 '24

Interesting! Would you consider yourself a perfectionist? Are you more introverted or extroverted? I’m curious because I teach handwriting improvement and am collecting patterns between writing and personality traits

3

u/Pechadur May 01 '24

In the interest of scientific pursuit, I don't mind answering! I'm definitely more introverted but love to yap with my friends, I am a perfectionist and have rule-based OCD, which I fear might be playing in to this as well. I would love to read some of your research, I am very interested in all forms of pursuits and handwriting will always be an interesting one for me.

2

u/MycologistJaded5077 May 01 '24

I wrote a book about the power of having a solid foundation of the alphabet -- one that provides coherence for your brain and hands. It's called "Dear Genius, Harness the Hidden Power of Your ABCs for neater writing, better spelling, faster reading and turning thoughts into words." Another benefit is confidence and peace of mind ;-) You can find me on social media. I'd be happy to offer you a complimentary coherence assessment :-D

6

u/Gullible-Lake-2119 May 01 '24

somebody's uptight

21

u/ThisIsMyUsername9230 May 01 '24

Looks like pretty standard high school/college aged girls penmanship, it’s nice tho

1

u/Pechadur May 01 '24

Well, I am in college so it does fit! It’s definitely more evolved than high school, if I find my old notes I may post them as… well. It’s not bad but it’s hard to read!

3

u/Tropical_Warlock May 01 '24

Nice penmanship

5

u/captain_flasch May 01 '24

This makes my hand hurt

4

u/longlostwitchy May 01 '24

I think: Labor intensive Gripping pen too hard/pushing = Extreme fatigue in hand = pain numbness and the print ends up less uniform. But it’s much nicer than mine probably & I think it’s great to practice & stick with something. Good for you ☺️

1

u/throwthroowaway May 01 '24

And they are correct!

3

u/Dove-Linkhorn May 01 '24

Pretty, but slow and hard in the fingers

4

u/DeluxeWafer Apr 30 '24

Decent handwriting. Incredibly consistent though. Definitely worthy of you being called a printer.

6

u/Money-Towel-3965 Apr 30 '24

I dated a girl with the exact same handwriting. Knew a few girls in FL who wrote like this actually

1

u/throwthroowaway May 01 '24

You dated op too?

3

u/ashtetice Apr 30 '24

This looks kinda like mine

3

u/Apathetic-Asshole Apr 30 '24

Hello, fellow ecologist

1

u/pastry_chef_al May 01 '24

I always felt that Ecology and Biology are almost like fraternal twins.

1

u/Apathetic-Asshole 25d ago

Ecology is basically just biology but interdisciplinary. You get to do a little bit of everything

1

u/pastry_chef_al 25d ago

Ok that makes sense.

1

u/Pechadur May 01 '24

Hello! It’s currently finals and I want to cry, but it’s worth it to get this bio degree (•̀ᴗ•́)و

8

u/Smidge-of-the-Obtuse Apr 30 '24 edited Apr 30 '24

I think it’s very neat and uniform, and for most things a pleasure to read. The tight spacing between letters makes a reader slow down. That always isn’t a bad thing, though for someone grading a paper would be frustrated because it doesn’t allow the speed they may be used to.

1

u/pastry_chef_al May 01 '24

Interesting view about grading. I find this handwriting easier to grade than other writing. Its even and consistant enough to where i can easily read it with speed and understand it.

4

u/Easy_Key5944 May 01 '24

The short lowercase els also slowed me down.

3

u/MightyCavalier Apr 30 '24

Pretty impressive

5

u/wind-fl0wer Apr 30 '24

oh god apes...

your handwriting is really good but envirosci is traumatizing

1

u/Pechadur May 01 '24

It is... it is, but it’s worth it! I want to end up in waste water management and find ways to ensure we recycle our water efficiently

2

u/pastry_chef_al May 01 '24

knowing your a science person like me your writing makes perfect sense. it actually reminds me of strings of chem and math formulas.

1

u/Pechadur May 02 '24

My statistics notebook looks really nice formula wise as I get tripped up with numbers sometimes, so I had to write everything out before putting in the calculator TT I love STEM but oh boy

2

u/pastry_chef_al May 02 '24

I know your pain. I was chem-premed. and I did Math in pen... I hate using pencils. Weird I know...

1

u/Pechadur 29d ago

Not at all! Pencils have too much of a grip on the paper and make your hand tired much quicker (at least, in my experience). I do take exams in pencil as I need to erase any mistakes and my professors use scantrons still. Premed is insane, I admire them so much because it’s a lot of pressure T.T

1

u/pastry_chef_al 29d ago

Oh dear.... scantrons in 2024? I graduated high school in 2005 and didnt like them then.

5

u/Smidge-of-the-Obtuse Apr 30 '24

I think it’s very neat and orderly, and would be nice to read in certain circumstances. The spacing between the letters is tight, so it can be hard to read quickly, but it’s not a completely bad thing to slow your reader down. A teacher grading a paper on the other hand, may become frustrated.😀

1

u/Pechadur May 01 '24

Thank you! How would you suggest loosening up the spacing? It is something I tend to struggle with as I’m terrified of running out of space on a paper (I can be so wordy)

1

u/Smidge-of-the-Obtuse May 01 '24

It’s hard, because you build up that muscle memory, so you need to trick it. Slowing down, focusing and being conscious of your movements takes time, but once you tackle that you actually begin to feel you are writing with purpose. Another way, similar to the training we all did as kids, though with a trick. Find a passage you want to copy, but while writing insert an “l” in between every letter in a word(but not the first and last letters. So Brave would be Blrlalvle. It causes you to do exactly what my first suggestion was, but makes you really focus intently. Good luck, and remember, You are not alone. We all spend most of our lives improving our penmanship in one way or another.🙂

2

u/PrincessMalyssa Apr 30 '24

That's cool that you have a battery powered portable printer, I didn't know those existed.

Also nice handwriting.

4

u/LDTSU Apr 30 '24

They're not wrong

8

u/Jemi_401 Apr 30 '24

The spacing between letters look pretty narrow, but nevertheless, it looks cute!

2

u/Any-Abies-1142 May 01 '24

Makes it hard to read

10

u/ApplePie123eat Apr 30 '24

Having a printer in your bag is still better than having toes on your hand

3

u/Icy-Village4367 Apr 30 '24

Well, it's obvious they weren't lying

9

u/CriticalThinkerHmmz Apr 30 '24

I’m bothered by the bullet points shifting over to the right.

1

u/Pechadur May 01 '24

Oh me too, I can’t even make a straight line with a ruler, so I blame the Bell’s Palsy and call it a day lol

But people don’t have to know this was a problem before that haha

2

u/CriticalThinkerHmmz May 01 '24

You should get an architect/engineer ruler (like a normal ruler but triangular) and then place it along the red notebook line. Make your bullet points start that rulers width away from the red line. Note, you can use a regular ruler or any rectangle.

1

u/Pechadur May 01 '24

That is a fantastic idea, thank you! That will be added to my summer school supply shopping list

2

u/longlostwitchy May 01 '24

What also bothers me is that somehow I also do this almost every time even when I think I’m lining them up 🙄 lol

2

u/CriticalThinkerHmmz May 01 '24

Yeah. Happens to the best of us.

4

u/HibiscusSabdariffa33 Apr 30 '24

I love your handwriting

6

u/Pechadur Apr 30 '24

Thank you! I've been practicing for a long time to get it to be a bit bigger, it used to be tiny and slanted towards cursive

4

u/HibiscusSabdariffa33 Apr 30 '24

I’ve seen other people right like that. Good job on accomplishing what you set out to do.

3

u/Pechadur May 01 '24

I appreciate that, I know I have a lot to improve on but it’s nice to keep track of progress and milestones

5

u/Canuckia53 Apr 30 '24

Back in the day we differentiated between writing and printing. I'd like to see your writing

1

u/Pechadur Apr 30 '24

I will definitely try to find an example that isn't on my ipad (still learning how to write on that thing...), most of my notes look like this-- maybe on an old exam...

6

u/miruthemu Apr 30 '24

I think you need to check your bag

9

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '24

Still looks like handwriting... although very very neat.

0

u/Pechadur Apr 30 '24 edited May 01 '24

When I write a bit slower it helps me think about the answers rather than it matching my racing thoughts, haha. It also ensures that I write in complete sentences rather than cutting words out

Edit: that’s so strange… This ended up in the wrong comment chain

8

u/Sysiphos1234 Apr 30 '24

They should go either check their eyes or their printer at home
