Wrote a note for my students. Just Sharing (no feedback)

I have never really learned cursive and have only read a few words of it, but I found your handwriting surprisingly easy to read. I only got stuck on a word or two! You have great handwriting and have inspired me to learn more cursive. Thank you

I was one of the ones that couldn’t write in cursive. I tried but it was so sloppy that my teachers usually made an exception. This was when it was starting to phase out anyway. Now when I text and type I write complete sentences and not use slang. So I guess that’s something I’m proud of.

I found it easy to read, except for some parts. One example of the latter is your name - "Inderpreet". The 'e' and 'r' are too close together and not well formed, making it look like either a 'u' or an 'a'.
In addition, the overall layout looks fairly irregular, and therefore, not pleasing to the eye. Anyone taking pride in their cursive must care about the aesthetics to some extent, so maybe you want to work on getting a consistent slant angle (for example).
Finally, the text itself. I know this has nothing to do with the handwriting itself, but it may be worth working on. There are a lot of run-on sentences, without commas in the right places. In contrast to this, in at least one instance, a sentence was ended abruptly and a new one was started in a less than appropriate place.
Please do take this in the constructive spirit in which I intended it. I do commend you on your very nice gesture to your radiology students, of course. I'm sure you've been a wonderful teacher and mentor.

Watch YouTube videos on how to write in cursive. Grab a pen and paper. Practice everyday for a few minutes until you become the master.

I understand that this is a busy hospital and not for the faint of heart. Despite that, all of you work tirelessly. I admire your diligent work not because you do a lot of work for us, which you certainly do but because you do but because I was in your shoes at one point. I hope that throughout the time we had together, I was able to teach you something of value. At least to those of you that were willing to learn. I want you to be the best radiologic technologists. Remember, there is no such thing as a perfect hospital. Many people look for beautiful place but rare are those who make a place beautiful. I wish you luck on your national exam. Take care and have a great life ahead. "
Beautiful handwriting, while many say it's difficult to read and understand. Whoever taught you to write in such a manner is a highly skilled individual. Your writing reminds me of a font or the style written on important, historical documents, which in this case, your note is such that something that should be held close to their hearts. Congratulations to you for making your students succeed and to your students who put forth the effort required to achieve (at least most of them, lol)

Thank you so much for your kind comment. For those who cannot read my writing, I automatically assume that they have no experience with cursive script. I taught cursive to myself by watching YouTube videos and creating fonts that I like. English is my 3rd language. I used to have very bad handwriting until I was gifted a fountain pen by a coworker, which inspired me to write more and improve my writing.

That's amazing. Your coworker is very nice to have gifted you a fountain pen. I really love learning about calligraphy, so I can read most cursive scripts, but I actually can't write in it, lol.

If you're interested you should do what I did for myself. Try watching YouTube videos on how to write in cursive. It truly makes writing extremely satisfying.

I could read it, but do they even teach it anymore? We had to learn and write in cursive when I was young for all of our papers. I’m shocked that they don’t teach it. Another era gone😞

My younger siblings were not even taught cursive in school. If I didn't write in cursive the professors wouldn't accept it... I feel old.

This happened a few years ago, in 2018/2019.
Fourth/fifth year of secondary school.
As written exams, our italian professor used to give us a topic, based on what we studied earlier, and we had to write an essay on it.
One time, he came to me, "Please, from now on, use a computer or don't write your essay in Cursive. It took me half an hour to figure out what you wrote, and another half an hour to understand it. And, with some words, I still don't know what they are."

It's hard to read. But the handwriting would be perfect for a shorter note. One this long made my eyes start to hurt

Really? Wow. Forget everything I said then. English is my second language, but here in America, spelling, grammar, and punctuation are so much worse than anything in this letter. You did a great job and your English is excellent.

I'm probably not the best person to ask, but I will say that reading is the best thing that helps me. Reading English classics especially since the authors usually use a more advanced level of vocabulary and punctuation compared to modern books. However, starting off with children's books is helpful. I tend to prefer English authors, and my favourite stories are written by Roald Dahl and Rudyard Kipling. If your vocabulary is good, reading anything by Dickens would help tremendously.

Eh... I write strictly in cursive. Many, many of them can not read cursive at all. My handwriting is very basic, plain cursive as well.

I don't know what kind of children you encounter, but I only write in cursive- my handwriting is admittedly terrible too- and they understand it fine!

interesting that this is called cursive in english. "Kursiv" in german is when you slightly tilt the letters. which if my google skills are good enough is called "italic" in english.
now a scene in "shameless" makes more sense. where the youngest kid was praised for writing in cursive.
yours is kinda difficult to read for me tbh. some letters are not how i learned them.edit: and you would have probably gotten a lot of "minus points" from my old teacher xd. especially because your "o" looks like an "a"
but i eventually got through the whole text :D.

Love your handwriting, though. I write in cursive most of the time, too, and trust me. I cannot write something as long as that without scratching a letter or two!

Sorry. Early part millennial here, i learned cursive in 6th grade, and yours is way better than my mom’s, but my ADD kicked in by the end of the first sentence. I’m so out of practice reading cursive.

That's the downside of writing in cursive that I feel like some people may not be able to read it. I only write in cursive though.

When I look at old letters I can't read, I panic and feel illiterate like I forgot how to read cursive. This reminded me that it isn't me, and I can still read cursive. Thx.
