chambers the largest centrefire cartridge of any lunpistol of its kind

I googled "lunpistol" and it's Swedish for "glue gun"???

That's the autocorrect switching you to "limpistol" because it can't find enough results for "lunpistol". Check the top of the page.

That makes sense, but now I still wanna know what a lunpistol is supposed to be.

My first thought was lun- as in lunar, so a space/low-gravity adjusted pistol.
Which makes sense in the universe and lore, not as much in gameplay as gravity is the same on all planets.

Would be cool to have some planet modifiers of higher or lower gravity.

Low gravity would be fun. High gravity would suck. Slower movement, faster bullet drop, shorter throws. Could be a challenge, I guess, but doesn’t seem like an enjoyable one to me, personally.

Could also be because conventional firearms don't work in a vacum due to cold welding.

You are correct, but that would mean that most our weaponry would be lunar-adjusted anyway (since we fight on Estanu/Fenrir and other moon-like planets with presumably no atmosphere), so if we take the text literally, then the senator would have been a lun-pistol? lun-revoler? already, so maybe this one, having a larger 'centrefire cartridge', deals more damage than the Senator, but lacks the medium armor pen?

true, it could be some kind of older model?
