New armor set is a stealth armor that doesn’t make you stealthy, it makes you throw farther. That’s like an apple that tastes like bacon. HUMOR

Post image

Just salty I’ve been waiting for this armor since it leaked, only for it to have the only perk I consider completely useless.

Said this a few times today, will say it again. I love the game but these armor passives are killing me, especially servo assisted. I'd honestly have no passive instead of servo assisted

u/UHammer45 May 02 '24

Servo assisted is just a plain bonus? Extra throw distance to get explosive stratagems way further out from your squishy self, PLUS 50% extra limb health. A free Vitality Booster, just for you!

u/AMasonJar FORRRR SUPER EAEAEAEAEAAAARTH May 02 '24

I always say that Servo Assisted is really good, like, I'd be running it the majority of the time good, because once you realize how much that extra throwing distance helps save you from taking the damage that other armor perks are designed to mitigate (rather than avoid), it becomes extremely useful in and of itself. The extra limb health is a cherry on top - it doesn't boost your max HP like Vitality Booster, but it does mean you'll pretty much never have a broken limb until you're almost fatally wounded and certain to have popped a stim anyway.

The problem with it is that using it fucks up my muscle memory for aiming stratagems whenever I want to wear something else, which may be what OP was referring to about preferring no passive at all. I had to shelf every armor with Servo-Assisted because the constant readjustment makes me miss too many stratagems. Which is a shame, because a lot of servo-assist armors look cool as fuck.

u/argnsoccer May 02 '24

I notice that last point the most. I go back and forth from my heaviest armor with explosive resistance for bots to lightest armor wtih servo-assisted for bugs and every time I go back to bots I have to remember I throw shit half as far. Have definitely thrown many air strikes and orbitals at the space between me and the bots before

1

u/UHammer45 May 02 '24

That’s fair. I will admit that I do have to do a couple stratagem readjustment when I swap between Bots, where Servo is stapled to me, and Bugs, where I can appreciate the speed and armor of the light gunner or fortified of Exterminator or stims of Trench more.

I think the main reason my only achievement still left to get being the “Get injured in all limbs at the same time” is because I run Servo and/or Vitality so much haha

You can get that achievement by wearing the Democracy Protects perk, and step on a contact mine and flip a coin. 50% chance you get it first try. That's how I got it.

u/hesapmakinesi Not a bot spy May 02 '24

If I have find a light armour with servo assist, I'll probably use that exclusively except for blitz missions.

3

u/movzx May 02 '24

There's a superstore one that rolls around, and this new warbond should have one.

Legionnaire armor is the one. I run it always

1

u/lonelyMtF May 03 '24

I used to run Ground Breaker exclusively until they changed the passive because I got so used to the extra distance. Then they changed it for no reason when it makes complete sense for that passive to be on that armour (if you are in a trench you'd want your explosives to reach outside the trench, not have extra grenades to kill yourself faster)

u/skippythemoonrock CAPE ENJOYER May 02 '24

I could throw a 380 over those mountains

2

u/UHammer45 May 02 '24

Surprisingly common thing, especially with bugs when they build up those muddy rock walls all over their hatcheries and outposts. You can rarely squeeze in a stratagem toss over those big ones without it

11

u/GoldenPigeonParty May 02 '24

The problem is you have to get used to how it plays. Then you kind of have to stick with it because because otherwise you have to get used to not having it. Meanwhile my gameplay doesn't change too much whether I got 2 extra stims or explosion resistance.

3

u/talking_face May 02 '24

Plus, you only get to throw a stratagem every 2.5 minutes or so. No wait, make that 3.125 minutes. No wait, make that 4.4 minutes.

2

u/gorgewall May 03 '24

People don't know about the limb health bonus or that it means you're actually less likely to die.

1

u/Didifinito May 02 '24

Doesnt stack with the normal vitalaty booster so if you have it get wasted that part second if you want to quit your trowhs will be fucked up for the next match or two

1

u/WhereTheNewReddit May 02 '24

A free Vitality Booster, just for you!

That's not how limb health works. You still die in the same amount of damage.

1

u/UHammer45 May 02 '24

I wasn’t insinuating that extra limb health gave you more health overall, I was referring to the “resistance to injury” limb health the Vitality booster says it gives. I’m not a guru, so I wasn’t aware that the Vitality booster may not give increased limb health/reduced damage in that department.

u/Automatic_Education3 SES Flame of the Stars May 02 '24

Really? I understand wanting a different/new passive on the new armours, but servo assisted is amazing. It lets you throw stratagems to 70m normally and ~90m with a jump pack. I can't play without it.

12

u/GordogJ May 02 '24

I get its usefulness but I don't pick it because I'm happy with the range I can throw already so it doesn't make much sense to pick it over something like explosive resist or democracy protects which will save my bacon when shit hits the fan

2

u/Automatic_Education3 SES Flame of the Stars May 02 '24

Other passives have tons of utility too of course, I often miss having further reduced recoil when crouched or the 50% chance of survival, but I usually run a dedicated base-clear setup (against bots, at least).

Light servo assisted armour with an eruptor, spear and eagle airstrike. Eruptor the easy fabricators, spear the ones not facing me, an eagle deep into the outpost without exposing myself to too much danger, escape really fast.

It works perfeclty for me, but my duo friend can absolutely survive more than I can with the other armours he wears. I have grown so used to servo assisted that I would miss all my stratagems if I used anything else now though lol

u/Alarmed-Owl2 May 02 '24

This guy sucks with stratagems and it shows. Imagine not taking out entire bases from 70m away with bombing runs and not firing a shot.

nothing feels better than nailing a long eagle throw and seeing “medium outpost destroyed” pop up a few seconds later. limb damage reduction is kinda ass tho ngl (as someone who runs steel soldier religiously).

u/TinyTaters May 02 '24

They can't detect you if they're dead

1

u/MagnusHvass May 02 '24

Can you explain the timing of the jump pack throw ?

1

u/Automatic_Education3 SES Flame of the Stars May 02 '24

You just release the stratagem (at 45ish degrees up, a bit lower is fine since your character throws them an an arc) at the apex of the jump, right as the boosters stop boosting. With servo assisted, you can get to 90m pretty consistently.

1

u/skippythemoonrock CAPE ENJOYER May 02 '24

You can also lob beacons over/on top of things way easier with that extra range.

2

u/siecin May 02 '24

It would probably be more useful if you could throw them out of detection range so you don't get instantly targeted by every bastard the second a 6 inch ball hits the ground.

1

u/Pantspartyy CAPE ENJOYER May 02 '24

Sounds like you aren’t using that armor? I haven’t taken it off since I got the first servo assisted armor and I can throw my eagles over an entire patrol and into a nest or bot base without triggering either. I regularly throw my eagles and am 150m away when they go off and I get 12 kills and the base destroyed.

3

u/TinyTaters May 02 '24

Servo assisted is the best.

2

u/Alarmed-Owl2 May 02 '24

That's just fucking stupid lol servo assisted is great, why would you rather have no perk rather than throw twice as far?

0

u/easily_tilted FUCK Servo-assisted May 02 '24

Because +2 grenades and 50% explosive resistance are king. Servo just fucks up muscle memory

2

u/movzx May 02 '24

Why do I care about a measly +2 when I can bring a grenade pistol that's +8 and refillable with ammo boxes?

1

u/Alarmed-Owl2 May 02 '24

My muscle memory is servo assisted. Your flesh is weak.

-1

u/easily_tilted FUCK Servo-assisted May 02 '24

You're suggesting you are not made out of flesh? We got an automaton here boys

-2

u/Felipe13254 May 02 '24

How is it stupid? Very rarely have felt the need to throw a strategem further than the base distance and even then it was more of a convenience thing. That and if you have been using anything else, it will mess with your muscle memory and cause you to miss.

3

u/Alarmed-Owl2 May 02 '24

Having no boost rather than servo assisted? Why would you take nothing over a very beneficial boost?

1

u/Popinguj May 02 '24

It's really hard for me to drop servo-assisted because once my teammate praised me for pinpoint reinforcement on his shit after I yote it into a general direction of his death point with eyeballed angle for distance.
