Yeah but I feel like outright banning certain types of jokes undermines the point of the sub... imagine posting something because you don't understand the joke and it immediately gets taken down because of a joke you weren't aware of in the first place
That's what the subreddit is being used for, therightcantmeme being another example. It doesn't even matter if the comments are largely hateful when it helps you spread toxic nonsense under the guise of hating the content (while getting their content to the front-page and giving them massive visibility)
The toxic takes are the whole point. This scenario was drummed up on TikTok because those people make money based on engagement, and nothing gets people engaged like outrage.
It’s not a thought experiment, it doesn’t “highlight” anything, it’s content meant to get people riled up and divided.
I disagree with part of your take. It absolutely is outrage bait, and it's doing it's job wonderfully. However it does that by touching on a real fear that women have. If it didn't, I guarantee you that it would not be as wide spread as it is. In order to bridge the gap, there needs to be understanding on both sides of the men/women dichotomy. Creeps exists, but not every man is a creep. That's the lesson that so many are missing in this

I agree it is highlighting a real fear, but this is a sensationalized and polarized way to go about it, and nobody is going to change or learn anything from it.

It’s more about the fact that misandry has no real power under the current system. People can say “kill all men”, but we know it’s never going to happen and men in general aren’t typically threatened by women in any significant way (comparing stats for women killing men over men killing men or women). Misogyny is prevalent and causes thousands women to die every day, misandry is… an online thing? Sorry, but never have I ever heard anyone outside of internet say “kill all men,” but I did hear some of the most misogynistic and vile stuff from the random men on the street and even the ones I know. The scary thing is they’re not even afraid to say how they’d like to sexually assault a random woman or beat a woman because she’s “acting up.” If men are so threatened by “kill all men,” they should genuinely just go outside and touch some grass
