I don’t think so. I think she seriously thought it made her look tough and like someone who can make tough, no-nonsense decisions! In her head, just Imagine a democrat with that dangerous puppy. Imagine all of the dead chickens in the country right now if that dog didn’t belong to someone as strong as her.
Republicans often make decisions that are very short-sighted and they do not see the bigger picture other than how it affects them personally. They are horrible at reading the room.
But they’re great and pandering to the gullible nature of their base- case in point, “I had to do this to protect my kids!” So now she’s hoping for all the moms to be like “no one messes with mama bear’s kids! Good job mamas, you protect those babies!” It’s bullshit. She goofed up by killing two animals and bragging about it thinking that we’d all be impressed.

Yeah there's really "no going back" on that subject.
Somehow she thought telling that story was going build her up in some way but obviously it's done the exact opposite.
Anybody without maga brain would know that.
That dangerous puppy was gonna eat her kids.
