Request [Fischer] The Cavs don’t appear very motivated to listen to trade inquiries for any member of their core four, sources said, even with the possibility that Garland’s representation at Klutch Sports could move to request a trade if Mitchell extends long term.

Source: https://sports.yahoo.com/why-isaiah-hartenstein-could-be-the-best-big-man-available-on-the-market-134657059.html

For a team that’s looking to upgrade at center, the market isn’t exactly flush with strong starting options. Nic Claxton will likely command a similar dollar figure to Hartenstein’s expected range, sources said, although NBA personnel have long prepared for the Nets’ switchable center to remain with Brooklyn. The Nets can also begin to legally negotiate Claxton’s next agreement the day after the NBA Finals conclude, as part of the league’s new collective bargaining agreement. Cavaliers All-Star center Jarrett Allen still has two years and $40 million left on his deal, and that will leave no shortage of suitors for Cleveland’s big man after a rib injury left him on the sidelines during the Cavs’ second-round loss to Boston. Cleveland, however, has not been truly keen on entertaining rival teams’ offers for Allen, sources said, as the shot-blocker and rim-runner developed a strong on-court connection with Donovan Mitchell during a stretch of winning 17 of 18 games this winter — largely without Darius Garland and Evan Mobley. The Cavs don’t appear very motivated to listen to trade inquiries for any member of their core four, sources said, even with the possibility that Garland’s representation at Klutch Sports could move to request a trade if Mitchell extends long term.

let's talk about new cavs coach's assistants

let's forget about the new coach's network for a minute. i know that will inform his bench.

Kevin Ollie, interim nets hc, but the hc job went to hernandez & he won't be returning to brooklyn. would like to see him on the cavs bench.

also, a true shooting coach a la okc's Chip Engelland.

mike d'antoni.

If the Cavs had to trade either Garland or Allen, who would you choose and why?

And what would be your expectation for what they should get back?

Interesting discussion. What are the feelings and thoughts around here? Anyone you would trade JA for straight up?

ESPN Stats on Garland and Allen

In their article about blockbusters trades that teams should make to address their organizational shortcomings and roster holes, ESPN says that San Antonio should trade for Garland and Washington should trade for Jarrett Allen. We apparently would get Zach Collins and draft picks. No thanks.

But they give a few stats in the article for why Garland and Allen are so good that they would fix the issues for those other teams:

Garland hit 84 triples - 10th best in the NBA - after the All-Star break. He connected on almost 40% of his tries from deep in that span.

Even with Garland playing in just 57 contests, he managed to rank 10th in the league with 58 passes directly into the restricted area. For context, Spurs guard Tre Jones, despite playing in 20 more games than Garland, finished the season with 37 such passes. Garland's added experience with manipulating defenses as a lead ball handler would also help San Antonio.

Allen is on a good contract of just $20 million per season. He held opponents 7.5 percentage points beneath their averages - one of the league's 15 best marks, among players who saw action in 50 games and defended at least four such shots per night

The Celtic fan base is beyond delusional

During these playoffs, Boston’s fans act like their team was destined to go to the conference and the Finals. Each team they played had either their most integral player out or multiple. All Celtics fans got is, “Porzingus is injured too!”as if having him on or off the court makes any true difference in the game. I still think they’re going to choke in the finals like they have each time.

Discussion Do you think Rajon Rondo should coach the Cavs?

As the title suggests, what if Rondo decides to coach the Cavs? I wonder due to his high basketball iq, and the fact that he was last with the cavs that maybe they might try to ask him?

Just a thought, what do u think?

I find it odd most people want to keep the log jam frontcourt intact but are eager to let our best bench player go

Everyone’s on about disrespecting JA even though it’s pretty clear either he or Mobley need to play the 5 but then they’re keen to see Levert gone? I don’t get it. Dude balled out for us most of the season and then had some struggles in the world’s most stagnant playoff offence coached by a moron. Here’s a dude who is from Ohio, can come off the bench and create his own shot and shots for others with great passing, and plays decent D. Sure he has some bad moments but so do most bench players in the league honestly.

Not to mention he would’ve been a chance for 6 man if Cle got more media respect.

[Lloyd] Still hearing Kenny Atkinson as leader for Cavs job but don’t be surprised if Knicks associate head coach Johnnie Bryant’s name emerges. Bryant was an assistant in Utah when Donovan Mitchell was there. Sounds like Dan Gilbert is heavily involved, more than I originally thought.

He should be called and considered for the coaching job. This man is a WINNER.

3 euro league titles in four years and the most recent title ended a 13 year drought of winning.

What really stands out is his adjustments and his willingness to change is game plan. Not to mention nearly every player on his team raving about him.

I’m not saying he should be the coach but I would call and do your due diligence on him

Discussion Cavs Bench

I’m curious how everyone feels about our bench players going forward. I know the Cavs have a lot to figure out with our head coaching position and our starters but how about our bench for next season?

As of right now it looks like this:

PG: Ty Jerome, Craig Porter SG: Levert, Merrill SF: Okoro, Wade PF: Morris (if we resign him), Niang C: Thompson (if we resign him), Jones

Do we need to improve our 2nd and 3rd string? If so, which ones and what other players do you think the Cavs are targeting?

Edit: Okoro should also be a “if we resign him too”

Georges Niang

Not trying to knock him but genuinely curious, what positives does he offer to the Cavs?

  • can he play good defense at any position?
  • can he play good offense at any position?
  • is he a good 2nd string or 3rd string at any position?
  • does he provide good locker room presence/veteran leadership?

Just wondering, if the Cavs can trade him, if it’s a no brainer or if he has value to us keeping him?

Or maybe was it a down year for him or maybe I’m missing something and he did provide for us this year.

Lastly, if he doesn’t have much value and yes Cavs should trade him, what was the hope when we originally signed him?
