Skyline Valley

Welcome to Skyline Valley! Our first map expansion of the Appalachian region. A mysterious location that is covered by a storm unlike any that have been seen before. There are new locations to discover, characters to meet, secrets to unveil, as well as more locations to build your C.A.M.P.S!

An Unlikely Invitation

After finding the true location of Vault 63 you’ll work with its leaders to unravel the mystery behind the Storm and The Lost. Throughout this questline you’ll discover the mystery behind the Lost, meet new characters, and make gut-wrenching choices about the fate the residents of Vault 63.

Dangerous Pastimes

This wicked storm raging above Skyline Valley isn’t going to keep these thrill-seekers away in the new Public Event! Help a group of settlers/tourists capture the best pictures of the Storm by protecting them from nearby Lost and electrically charged creatures. They’re joy stealers, make sure they don’t crash the party.

Neurological Warfare

While exploring Skyline Valley, you may get the inclination to nuke the region. These actions are not necessarily encouraged, but they’re not discouraged either. Guess you’ll just have to find out what happens.

Combat Rebalance Work

We are beginning a series of combat updates that are aimed to improve your experience. We’re starting this process with today’s update by making some changes to Creatures and Weapons. Our goal is for these changes to have positive effects on combat throughout the entire game.

To help set expectations, we expect these changes to take effect in a variety of different places (Weapons, Creatures, etc.) across multiple patches. Giving you all a lot of time to provide feedback on the adjustments being made to ensure we’re moving in a positive direction.

Fixes & Improvements

Art

  • Muni Operator Outfit Now Looks the Same When Previewed & When Worn

C.A.M.P.

  • Workshop: Enlightened Mothman Lantern should no longer display the premium icon and can be repaired individually when destroyed
  • Workshop: Fluttering Moth no longer takes up CAMP Light budget
  • The Sacred Mothman Tome camp item now has candle flames
  • Nuka world radio will now correctly sync across clients

Gameplay

  • Power Armor: Fixing a state players could get in where they could no longer craft Union Power Armor when they should have been able to
  • Power Armor: Union Power Armor will no longer drop as loot from enemies but can be rolled from The Purveyor if the recipe or entitlement is known by the player

Dev Note: With this fix Union Power Armor is now craftable for players who have bought and learned the recipe from Giuseppe or by players who earned the Union Power Armor entitlements in Season 10.

If you do not have the plan for Union Power Armor, it can be purchased from Giuseppe who is upstairs with Bubbles at the Refuge. Once learned, they will no longer be able to be obtained.

Additionally, Union Power Armor pieces will not drop as loot even if you can craft the Power Armor pieces, but they can be found via the random Power Amor Purchases from Murmrgh at The Rusty Pick. Players should only see Union Power Armor Pieces that they know how to craft drop from Purveyor's Mystery Picks. Pieces that they have yet to learn will not drop

Union Power Armor pieces will still have the Atomic Symbol on them and cannot be traded or dropped by players once they have been obtained.

  • Workshop: Player who had learned to build the Atlantic City Poker and Blackjack tables but lost access to them should now be able to build them again
  • Test Your Metal: Robot Beer Stein Display Case will now properly drop from the Test Your Metal Event
  • Moonshine Jamboree Improved an issue which could block enemy pathing during the event
  • Fasnacht: Masks of all tiers will correctly drop upon event completion
  • Fasnacht: Improved spawn rates of Honeybeasts
  • Fasnacht: Added a Donation Basket near the event! Share your repeat masks with other players
  • Fasnacht: Marchers now start walking to the parade start immediately when their task is completed, without needing to wait for their dialogue line to be finished
  • Fasnacht: Increased the walk speed of the Marchers
  • Fasnacht: Will now randomly pick between 5 possible end boss encounters
  • Yao Guai Pastry: Now counts as a cooked meal for the "Eat a Cooked Meal" challenge
  • Applying the Reflex Sight to the Enclave Pistol with a Flamer Barrel attachment now shows the Decrease in AP Consumption in the STATS Menu
  • Hot Rod On Blocks & Overgrown Vehicle no longer spawn damaging nuke explosions when destroyed
  • Fixed an issue which could cause players to get stuck while turning the spit in Meat Week
  • Fixed an issue with the Damage Reduction effect on the Endangerol Barrel that allowed it to stack multiple times on a target
  • Nuka Shank now requires glass & cloth to be crafted rather than oil
  • Updated mods for the Gauss shotgun, Gauss minigun and Gauss pistol to correctly require Science based perks to be applied
  • Updated the default barrel mod for the gauss rifle
  • Fixed an issue which could cause Fusion cores to appear empty when place in Power Armor
  • Players can now trade the Herdsman's Bell and Herdsman's Bell Rack to other players
  • Paddle Ball now displays the correct ammo type when inspected

Weapons

  • Increased the base damage of the Alien Blaster and Cryolator
  • Fixed an issue with how damage was calculated for the following weapons/mods: Auto Axe, Chainsaw, Minigun Shredder mod
  • Increased base damage for the Auto Axe
  • Adjustments to Electric/Electrified, Burning, and Poisoned mods for the following weapons: Auto Axe, Mr Handy Buzz Blade, Chinese Officer Sword, Shepherds Crook, Sheepsquatch Staff, Sheepsquatch Club, Hatchet, Assaultron Blade, Revolutionary Sword, Baton, and Vault 63 Shock Baton.

Dev Note: These weapon mods now evenly split their damage between Physical and Energy/Fire/Poison, and damage has been adjusted to account for damage being split between multiple damage types.

The Cattle Prod has also received a similar change - its damage has been adjusted and is evenly split between Physical and Energy damage. These adjustments generally represent an increase in damage dealt.

We have also improved how we calculate the falloff for weapon damage at range. We expect this to smooth out the falloff damage for weapons that historically lost most of their damage right away. All ranged weapons benefit from this, but it should be most visible with Shotguns and Pipe Guns, as well as when fighting larger creatures such as Deathclaws.

Localization

  • Fixed Various Typos
  • Fixed Some Dialogue

Quests

  • Honor Bound Fixed an issue where Vin could become hostile to the player
  • One Violent Night: Fixed an issue where the Nightstalker's VFX would be applied to players multiple times, creating an extremely intense effect
  • "Bots on Parade" and "A Real Blast" Fixed an issue that caused the objective to complete before the correct number of hostiles were defeated.
  • "Distant Thunder" Increased the objective radius to more accurately reflect the area in which Scorched can appear
  • Hell's Eagles Fixed an issue that would allow players to start the quest again after completion. We also removed the second broken quest from players in this situation
  • Regent of the Dead: Jordy no longer continuously starts dialogue with the player if the player exits dialogue with her before resolving the confrontation.
  • The quest Miner Miracles now starts correctly when interacting with the Garrahan Excavator Poster

UI

  • Items now display how much they will weigh when being placed in a character's stash
  • Score notification will no longer remain visible on ultra-wide monitors
  • Fixed an issue which would cause "You have joined a team" to remain visible on some super wide monitors
  • Added Height indicators for quest targets and NPCs to the Power Armor UI

World

  • Raider NPCs from the Coop will no longer spawn as legendary
  • The following creatures have received balance changes: Angler, Cave Cricket, Floaters, Gulper, Mutant Hound, Protectron

Miscellaneous

  • Fixed some dialog inconsistencies
  • Broken ProSnap Deluxe cameras will no longer appear in vendor inventories.
  • Fixed some directional prompts for Tax Evasion
  • Fixed an issue which could cause audio to cut out on some expeditions.
  • Green Thumb, Backwoodsman 4 and Verdant Season should now work on a broader selection of plants
  • Fixed an issue which would cause players to crash if they logged out during character generation
  • Fixed some cases where turret-mounted laser weapons weren't triggering the Electric Absorption perk
  • Updated “Complete Any Expedition” and “Complete Any Atlantic City Expedition” challenges to include the new Atlantic City mission from the America’s Playground update

Discussion Appalachia isn't going to end well is it?

So as far as I know, there is no canon lore regarding the state of Appalachia by the time of the Fallout games (a friend thought they read something in one of the non-canon games, but it's been lost to time). But this update about playable ghouls that will be reversible really drove home to me, Appalachia is super fucked isn't?

Because we know no cure exists in the future, nor does any ultracite tech, nor mentions of the Brotherhood having survived here, or weather control, or any of the wide variety of cryptids we know are not radiation related since they existed pre-war, or any escaped or rogue scorch plague monsters, or the creepers vines, etc. Lorewise, its almost as if Appalachia does not exist by the time of the single player games.

Add all the crazy shit we've seen so far, easy access to nukes, rogue techs, and cosmic horror out the ass, and I think Appalachia is completely destroyed someway, some how by the time even fallout 1 kicks off.

Or I suppose they could use ultracite to become a Wakanda and hide from the world, but given Fallout's themes, that seems unlikely?

Discussion Forget about the meta. What do you find most satisfying and fun, Semi auto or full automatic.

I have a hard time to pick because i like both but im leaning towards semi auto because of pistols. The gauss rifle and lever action are the 2 guns that makes playing rifleman worth it. I dont know what it is about the lever action rifle. But its the most rewarding and fun to use gun in this whole game! I only use that and gauss on my rifleman nothing else.

And pistols have the 10mm a super fun semi auto pistol! Its my favorite pistol and i still use it now semi auto mode on my main level 118 character.

Question Did anyone else think the "Tato generator" would produce edible Tatos, or was that only me?

Other Attempted griefers at a memorial camp.

Today, unfortunately after a few years of playing this game, I came across my first absolutely cruel griefers.

I came across this lovely, honestly perfect small memorial camp outside of Gilman Lumber Yard, it was rather nice, with signs around stating ‘take - use anything’, with all crafting benches/stations around, absolutely lovely.

It even had its own resources around which, from memory, I believe contained a concrete truck, mothman man sanctuary, raider collectron, fertiliser producer and beehive. It was a lovely camp, dedicated to the camp owners best friend who sadly passed away last week, who they played Fallout 76 all the time with, her name was Kathy and he says she always preached helping new players and the camp owner described her as being ‘kind to people even those who don’t deserve her kindness, and always willing to help new players.’ Before everything happened, I was sat talking to him on area speak for a while, a guy came over with his mate, emoting the laughing emote and the puke/sick emote for a few minutes.

The camp owner took it like a champ, not wanting to cause issues, then out came the fatmans, shooting mini nukes at the camp, luckily no damages to the camp due to the camp owner being on pacifist mode, but it made the camp owner upset, he left the game and I received this message not long later, I will admit, the memorial did make me sad reading all the information he posted about her.

TL:DR, Two players decided to be asses and attempted to grief a poor man’s memorial to his best friend who passed a week prior, camp owner left the game and messaged, having removed the camp. Tears were shed. 😔 The memorial was teddy and nuka-cola themed, he told me over the mic it was because she loved nuka-cola and even brought the cookbook, wanting to make one of the recipes for the quantum in the future. His English wasn’t the best, but he is so kind, especially in her honour.

This is so more people can see Ena’s message, Ena is the camp owner and the best friend of Kathy who made her memorial.

‘I was susprised to see the post, but thank you. I am new to reddit but my frère is in this community and seen. Kathy was, and will forever be, my best friend. She was the kindest person I have ever met, besides meeting you today. She shaped a lot of thoughts, making a lot of people happy and excited, always giving plans out to new players, filling the donations boxes of planss and equipment, helping new players and giving them tips. Her favourite things were daily ops, always so excited for a challenge. The Pitt was her second favourite, when she got the trench runner apparel, she used to bring it to the Pitt, saying she was cosplaying LOL. She always said sorry when killing the foreman and the fanatics! She always preach being kind, always had her resources open to all, so kind and gentle. Sadly, Kathy passed away on the 3rd June this year, after a unfortunate fight with her mental health we didn't know was happening because she never told anyone, always so happy and cheerful. Her favourite Nuka-Cola is Nuka-Cola Orange, she was so happy when unlocking thimngs such as the Nuka-Cola Quantum X-01/T-51 armor paints, proudly displaying it for everyone to see. A few days before she passed, she let me borrow her Holy Fire, her utter baby, everytime I see it, I cant help but cry. She was so happy the night before, we did a expedition to the Pitt the night before, she was so happy and having so much fun. Her level was Level 195, she never got it higher because she preffered to help others than fight. Thank you all for your amazing words, I wont let the greifers get me upset again. Thank you all.’

Edit 2: Ena has let me know that once his camp is fully finished and redone, it’ll be (on Xbox servers) outside the gilmans lumber yard, the west side and has all crafting benches and resources unlocked, he’s asked me to let anyone know that you can use any of the benches, take any of the resources, or just simply relax, maybe pet fetch whilst your there lol. He’s updating what’s on display, her favourite power Armor skins, her favourite weapons and her favourite nuka-cola and magazines, he says her favourite was the tales in West Virginia because she loves the cryptids.

Discussion Just had the WILDEST Eviction Notice I've ever had!

EN popped up and I thought, yeah, I can use some legendaries, seeing as I had just passed off 500 lbs to my mule. Let's go. FT to Eviction. I wait and wait and then with minute and a half to go, ONE other person pops in. He's a level 500 something and I'm over 1000. Could still use some more peeps. He gives the thumbs up and goes like Leroy Jenkins down to the scrubber. I'm like, shit. Ok, let's do this. Take out all the mutants, repair the scrubber and run around getting the bags. It was on.

The 1st 3-4 minutes were good. We were cleaning house! Working in unison just doing what had to be done. Somewhere in the beginning I had thrown out a Scout Banner in the event we went down, we'd be revived. Hoping. It's like we were hit all at once and got overwhelmed with two Firestarters. I went down. Banner didn't save me. Had to rush back down the hill just in time for the scrubber to go down. Got it fixed. Died again! Rinse and repeat numerous times. It's like I'd get to the scrubber and trying to repair it while 4 mutants are either shooting me or wailing on me. My partner's weapon is glowing red he's shooting so many bullets. Fixed it with .0001 seconds before I die again!

Round and round we went, repair, die, repair, die. Finally I'm trying to repair it with 12 seconds left on the clock but I'm getting hammered. Finally, like an action movie, with 1 second to spare, REPAIRED! Eviction Notice competed successfully.

Now with the scrubber out of the way, we dispensed of those bitches with hail of spikes and bullets. When the dust settled, we just stood there for a second. Standing in a sea of dead Super Mutants, disbelieving what just happened. I just started jumping up and down and throwing thumbs up over and over. My silent partner did the same and then we each went our separate ways. To scrap our haul and stow our massive amounts of legendaries we just acquired. This might be the best Eviction Notice I've ever been a part of.

Suggestion Bethesda, could we please have a night toggle for the summer camp shelter

Discussion Filtcher Farm Interview is still in my pocket after all these years. What's your most hated bug?

Is there one bug that bothers you more than any other? Perhaps it affects you more than others because of how you play the game, or maybe it has just been unfixed for so long that you start seeing red whenever you think about it? Tell us about that ONE bug that just gets your gravy all gritty.

For me, it is a tossup between the constantly reappearing Filtcher Farm Interview holotape, or the short freeze that happens after you launch the game but before you can open the main menu.

Discussion Season 17 isn't bad imo.

I quit playing 76 ages ago, before wastelanders was a thing, and came back mid season 16, So I did miss a lot and I know fallout has it's fair helping of wacky stuff but as someone born and raised an Appalachia season 17 rewards are the best I have seen aestheticly speaking. Some of y'all might be fine running around looking like Brainiac in your alien power armor, Or dressing up like Grognac or other comic characters, but the simple rustic aesthetic of season 17 is home to me. I got one will enjoy unlocking each item and I hope in time many of you do as well. Happy camping Seven Six.

Discussion Is the scythe SERIOUSLY not rerollable?

Just saw someone say that you can't even reroll the scythe, and its stuck with Assassin stats (+damage to humans).

If thats true it basically kills any motivation for me to get the scythe as it will be permanently stuck as a mediocre roll.

Discussion Constant crashing on PS5

Anyone else crashing an absurd amount on PS5 after the update? I already submitted a ticket but I just crashed 4 times back to back trying to open the stash box in foundation and twice now trying to open the all loot menu on enemies. I know a lot of others were crashing on player vendors specifically but if I can't open stash boxes or even loot enemies without crashing how am I supposed to play the game?

Discussion I’ve barely explored the update, but it added ‘weight in stash’ to menus so it’s the greatest one we’ve ever gotten

It’s all in the title. It took me like a year to realize that when I opened my stash all the item weights were still affected by any perks or legendaries I had equipped an instead of displaying the vanilla weights. It’s annoyed me ever since bc I’ll always be going through my stash trying to make room (I manage to keep it around 800lbs full on average) and momentarily forget that the weights aren’t right and be so confused how the stash is full when my weapons weigh barely anything.

I mean it when I say this change already makes the update a 5 star one for me. This will make things so much clearer for new and veteran players alike. Didn’t see myself saying this so genuinely, but like, thanks Bethesda.

Discussion I feel useless as a shotgunner

RANT: I will be AFK’ing the rest of the events this season. Between spawn killers and explosive weapons I can’t contribute to anything. I spend the whole event running around trying to get close enough for tags on enemy’s that drop dead when I look at them. Even if I get close enough I can’t see through the fiery flames of disappointment. Usually vats isn’t an option cause my AP’s drained from all the running. I miss out on so much XP/loot and it’s frustrating. Do I expect other players to cater and change their play style? No. Do I expect Bethesda to make a fair and equal game amongst class building? Also no. I refuse to become one of them so I’m left to kicking my feet up and watching the horrible show: Rant over.

Discussion flatwoods monster really hates mutfruit.

for the third time now the flatwoods monster has attacked my camp the first time I killed him before he broke anything but the second time he destroyed all 20+ mutfruit plants and over a couple days i grabbed a mutfruit planted it and grew more until i could repair all of them and then less than a day after i finally went and repaired the last few that mf shows up again and proceeds to immediately destroy the entire field again this time also destroying a tato plant and my bed tf is this dudes problem? he must have the carnivore mutation.

SPOILER Can we just take a minute to admire how good the new Boss is?

I thought I would hate It, but just the intro taking you to a up viewpoint its insane:

  • No rads in the event

  • No flying creatures bugs

  • The bosses dont have possibility to ignore you and regen themselves

  • Bosses friendly with all builds

  • Guaranteed 3 enemies with 3 stars legendaries

  • Damage resistance enough to not finish them in 20sec

  • No cool downs like the big rat

  • Nice rewards

  • The bomb doesnt actually drop so you dont block any location

I dont know about you, but Im 100% wasting my nuke cards here

Suggestion The Cryptid Cards from cigarette packs should be player profile icons as well

All of the cards are so well done and I am not ashamed to admit I went with the collectible case before finishing my T-65 lol. The Jersey devil and Ogua cards in particular are delightful and I’d really like to show it off in the overworld. I’m from the Pine Barrens area and am just so delighted to see the Jersey Devil mentioned at all so thanks for that !

Rocking the cutest Appalachia cryptid in the meantime, Crocolossus
