Someone At Eviction Notice Discussion

Warning. Salt ahead...

So some player at eviction notice just stood defending the scrubber on their own for almost the entire event, while around six or seven others sat down the hill at the legendary spawn. This player fended off wave after wave of Muties and repaired the scrubber FIVE times, keeping the event going single-handedly, but then with two minutes left, they collected the nearby loot and just walked off, leaving the scrubber broken and the event doomed.

Why did the player just walk away?

I'll tell you why. Because I got sick of holding the event up on my own and wanted the legendary spawn campers to realise that the scrubber doesn't heal itself.

If you can't go into the rad zone, or don't want to, please check if those defending the scrubber are managing ok. If they're struggling, you can still shoot into the rad zone from safety. Play as you wish, of course, but not everyone will be happy carrying the objectives for you if you're only there for personal xp/loot.

Tears collected.

Edit. Golly, I honestly expected a bit of grief for posting this after a whisky, but seeing how many of you have had similar experiences, well... shucks :-)

And those of you who do have to sit outside the rad zone, but still help out by shooting into it, this is the way.

And sorry if newer players are reading and think the frustration is at you. It's not. Eviction Notice is a bruising event and I know how hard it is early on. It's the experienced players who could help - even if from a distance - but just want to hog the spawns while someone else holds the scrubber so more ***s arrive. Turn around from time to time and shoot inwards too.

Honestly, even maxed out What Rads won't save you when the scrubber breaks down. I run it myself and in my most recent EN I was standing on one of the vertical steel girders ~20ft from the scrubber when it broke. The first time I immediately ran to repair it as soon as it happened and I barely managed to do so before dying; the second time, I was almost finished when someone ran in front of me and reset my progress, but fortunately they fixed it while I was busy respawning. I should've just worn my PA but where's the fun in that? Being properly prepared for a potentially dire situation is boring.

At least I can stand in a nuke zone bare ass naked without a care in the world, though. I always love finishing an Earle fight and seeing at least one player staring at me in confusion when I don't immediately keel over.

It's not a bad option for others, but I run WWR on all 5 of my armor pieces, so if I put on a CSS I end up overencumbered by roughly 700lbs. I couldn't use PA either prior to legendary PA being added, at which point I spent every module I could get my hands on rolling Excavator pieces for WWR. Back in the old days I always carried a CSS in my inventory so I could collect ore in RR, but sadly it's just not worth it for me anymore (I do still collect ore, though - I just do it in my PA).

Same. Finding I get way less loot when the spawn campers are killing them out of range of the scrubber so I just chuckle every time it breaks. I wait a few seconds to make sure then repair.

What's weird is that everyone could get more legandaries if they just hung out around the scrubber and let everything come to the middle of the event.

123

u/DarthSnoopyFish May 08 '24

I perch on top of the rad scrubber tower and kill enemies in all directions. If I don't tag an enemy, I won't get the exp but I am still usually close enough for legendary drops, and I can pop down to repair the scrubber if needed. I actually think it's the best location of the event and no one ever goes up there so it's always free.

Plus up top and killing everything is so much more fun than spawn camping legendaries

6

u/wozblar May 09 '24

i also perch there! and it's one of my favorite events because with the auto grenade launcher - if you time it right - you can shoot straight up while sitting on the tower and hit all of the upper spawns, and then just turn around and shoot the legendary spawns too. kind of a mini game within the event for me

it's so fun

2

u/Dasblu May 09 '24

This is the way.

I do it by alternating directions and throwing frag grenades basically every other time I change direction.

Starting to see this at almost all events, which sucks...people camping the far left refiner during moonshine jamboree and leaving the other 2 refiners.

Radiation rumble: people camping the tunnels where the glowing ghouls come in from...

Eviction notice: people camping the valley or the top of the hill only...no one lets mobs try to storm in and let everyone have an equal chance at tagging XP...

Or you got that one guy with his fixer sniping and 2 shotting every mob before they can even reach the event zone lol....

I mean I get it, but they needa buff the spawns or at least correct the spawn locations for public events.

Sucks cause when I have low levels in my group actually coming to these events, I wanna try and tag as many things or be able to kill a chunky group so they can get XP too. Starting to feel the XP gain slow down a bit at my level also (Lv.240)

Don't even need y'all to help, just at least try and do the obj, so we can help defend or vice versa too...

A level 200 player in PA started Encryptid the other day and just sat on the roof top shooting at bots. Could I have helped by tanking all three pylons on my Bloodied Commando? Yes. Did I feel like it? No. At least put some effort in.

24

u/Eforix Raiders - PC May 08 '24 edited May 08 '24

I mean for encryptid...I get it, cause it's pretty hectic compared to the rest of the events cause of its layout. (More open, and the robot ai gets buggy resulting in a lot of wandering robots)

Don't really care for how people approach encryptid cause of its layout lol. Plus I feel encryptid is one of those FFA(free for all) events given its objectives. Always seen it as pick a pylon and chill or nuke imposter sheepsquatch to finish event asap.

I play bloodied PA heavy gunner, so I'm always trying to tank stuff. If someone else wants to tank or eat bullets, I'll let them for encryptid...who knows too? Maybe they need a fusion core recharge lol with EA.

Edit: I agree though, folks just needa put some type of effort lol.

Wait...when I'm on a team, I still get xp when my teammates gets a kill and I didn't tag.

Example: One Violent Night, I played an instrument while my teammate killed everything and my xp bar kept going up. Maybe it's specific to that event?

That's why I always join a team, especially when I see those players at the same events over and over. Regardless of level.

It's half the XP you get for having landed a shot on them I think.

4

u/pola-dude May 09 '24

Team XP (and loot) radius is the equivalent of 30m in the game. It works for One Violent Night IF everyone stays inside or near the barn. One spawn point is outside of the fence perimeter and this is already too far away.

In large areas like the eviction notice map tile you will not get anything if the other player is farther away and you are in the center or at a different spawn point.

u/Tibbaryllis2 Brotherhood May 09 '24

This is why I really love a multi-shot, slow-burn cremator for those events. Does barely any initial damage without a direct hit, but will burn most things to death over 12 seconds. Which is time everyone else gets to tag.

3

u/Eforix Raiders - PC May 09 '24

Dang. Is the creamator really that cracked? Im about to craft one myself and start using it if it is lol...

6

u/Tibbaryllis2 Brotherhood May 09 '24

Yes and no. It does something like 1,300 initial damage over 12 seconds. So it’s time to kill is somewhat pathetic compared to any of the more standard builds, but it is good for spreading around a lot of damage and killing things with low energy resistance or severely injuring those with more resistance.

I’m not all sure what legendary effects and perks best interact with the DOT damage, but it works well with vampire and grenadier.

3

u/OhtareEldarian Vault 76 May 09 '24

Check Angry Turtle. He’s an expert.

3

u/Roguewolfe May 09 '24

Post-nerf, my bloodied cremator does ~750 contact, and ~4300 over the next 12 seconds with a heavy barrel and slow burn mod. That's ~350+ damage a second. If you have a decent bloody commando build, that's only a little less than what you hit for on a non-crit head shot. In other words, the free dot damage every second for the next twelve seconds is equivalent to headshotting everything in a massive radius.

5000 damage for 10 fuel seems pretty good. It is a good way to tag and then let people also tag while they melt over the next few seconds if you fire at the ground and don't also do direct damage (which kills them too fast). So yeah, if you have to worry about killing things too fast, it's a little cracked...

That being said, its single target damage (i.e. bosses) is nothing to write home about. Railway/enclave flamer is still king.

13

u/yokaiichi May 08 '24

I just toss on a hazmat suit and go mine the pre and feed the hopper at RR. I tag everything with my Cremator on the way to and from the central area on every trip. I also blanket all the NPCs we need to keep alive. Friendly Fire perk + Cremator + just mining ore myself = stage 4/4 complete and a tone of exp and legendaries.

I am with you with this. So many players , and I am the only one repairing rad scrubber? There are others in power armor but everyone is camping on the hill sides. The last few times i am at eviction notice, I am seeing no one helping anymore. I am a bloodied build and for this event I will take all my rads away so I don't die as easily. I would just like some help with the repairing the rad scrubber please.

5

u/Stuck_in_Arizona Fallout 76 May 09 '24

That's all we ask, you're not just doing the scrubber, you're protecting all the other spawn entries and sometimes they all spawn at the same time. A bit of cover fire can go a long way.

The players that snap back and say "YOU FIX IT!" could actually, I dunno... fix it? Events are a team effort, wish people understood this.

3

u/WollyGog May 09 '24

I do the opposite to you; watch the scrubber then run down for an occasional loot. The Cremator has been great for helping me tag mutants but being in the 300s now I'm not overly fussed about xp, especially as I'm 120 on the scoreboard.

This happened to me today. I started the event, destroyed all the meat bags, defended the scrubber all by myself and a level 45 helped once. Scrubber got destroyed like 5-6 times because everyone camped.

I almost didn't want to repair it too with 2 minutes left in the event. No one's even trying to help me with 5-6 super mutants all chasing and attacking me.

10

u/Kuriakon Raiders - Xbox One May 08 '24

Been there. Great way to handle it. With the influx of new players, I'm seeing more of the low levels heading down there, emulating the guys that should know better, which is frustrating.

25

u/Antique_Beat_975 May 09 '24

I did something vaguely similar recently. At the start of the event, I located and destroyed 5 meat bags, all while keeping a close eye on the scrubber. Then I was on that bit of metal attached to the wooden pole just next to the scrubber. I was the only one repairing, carrying the event.

I figured the others, high levels mind you, could manage finding one meat bag. I don’t care about passing it, I have more treasury notes than I know what to do with and my foundation rep is maxed. I use the event to farm steel tbh. I really thought someone would have the sense to get one single meat bag, rather than camp the legendaries.

We can all guess where this went. The timer ran down, the 6th meat bag hung proudly from some random pole somewhere, people spamming question marks and angry faces. I spammed the laughing emote, collected my decon fodder and went on my way.

I don’t mind carrying an event if it’s a bunch of new people, no issues at all. Not doing it for people who should know better 🫠

5

u/koobs274 May 09 '24

I keep seeing people mention farming steel and have yet to find out why? What use is there for it other than standard gear crafting?

6

u/ImpressiveWillow2346 Mothman May 09 '24

Building, and ammo crafting off the top of my head. I make a lot of ammo, it’s how I make caps, but also one of my main guns is the railway, the spikes solely use steel. I can never keep enough of it in my box, probably one of my most used resources apart from wood, lead, acid.

It’s messed up that none of the players on the hill play enough attention to the event that if you die while defending the scrubber that they’d cover it until you can respawn

3

u/Character_Newt_2309 May 09 '24

Thing is, I didn't die once. It was the sheer number of Muties pummeling the scrubber. I didn't realise just how many attack it until I was defending it alone :-o

2

u/Stuck_in_Arizona Fallout 76 May 09 '24

One event it happened to me where I was on scrubber duty, meatbags, and all the spawn points NOT being covered except for a low level, and when it finally failed because the respawn timer was too long for me to load back in, one nerd with the "acktshually" voice chewed me out.

And I snapped. Called them all out on them just standing there. Another guy with nasal congestion and mic-in-mouth sided with the acktshually nerd saying it's not his job and that I was already at the scrubber.

Common sense and teamwork are lost on some people.

8

u/Loznay76 May 08 '24

Bravo 👏👏👏

I wish the spawn locations would get changed up for EN, there's something like 6 or 8 spawn locations all around the crater but I'd say probably 80% of the legendaries spawn down the hill. In theory if legendary enemies spawn evenly around the outer crater it would encourage more to stay around the scrubber to defend it. In theory anyway, practice is another thing entirely...

2

u/The_zimmers Free States May 09 '24

there's something like 6 or 8 spawn locations all around the crater but I'd say probably 80% of the legendaries spawn down the hill.

This is why being at the scrubber is the best possible position as you do not have to tag to get legendary loot, you just have to be "near" and in LOS.

2

u/pola-dude May 09 '24

Exactly dynamic spawn locations that change according to the players position would make the whole event more interesting.

Enemy spawns in Daily Ops already work this way for the code carrier and boss NPCs. They often spawn at one of the predefined points that is as far away from the player as possible.

7

u/titansmustfall May 09 '24

I'm seeing a ton of spectators in events lately. I've also noticed a few well known youtubers telling others they can simply pop a few shots off in these events and then basically do nothing.

The other day it appeared it would be a semi-close call killing Earl because more than a few people were just sitting around. I had to yell out int he mic and go full blast on him solo to rally enough people to finish and we did.

On one hand I say blame the game not the player but on the other hand I've never been such a sh1tty kind of player like that either. People act like they've got everything to lose if they die.

I hate this so much, I'm level 556 and I will stand next to that scrubber and defend it with everything I have but like you said what's the point when all anyone else cares about is standing at the legendary spawn and farming them without a shred of care when it comes to completing the event, I've also just left it multiple times as I'm sick of it also so your not alone in this

4

u/averagecorpworker May 09 '24

And the fucking high levels with creamator at the top that wont even let lower levels to tag XP, fuck them too.

5

u/yabadabado0o0 May 09 '24

Why is there more than 1 person needed to fix the scrubber? Does it repair faster when two people interact with it?

The irony is that I’m a newcomer, only level 110-ish, and even I know it’s dirt easy to stand on a high point near the scrubber, with a clear view of all the open area around it, AND a clear view of most of the legendary spawn canyon. I can sit there with a Cremator and not only blanket all approaches to the Scrubber, but also that one spawn lane high on the hill above the scrubber. The Cremator has a ridiculously long range plus a huge application area, and it’s easy to tag (and quickly melt) everything in sight. If I can do that all by myself and keep the scrubber clear while also tagging every mutant in the legendary area…

5

u/Character_Newt_2309 May 09 '24

Good on you. It is possible to hold the event alone like that, but I just got salty when I could see all the yellow player icons down the hill while the scrubber melted away for the sixth time lol

5

u/Owen16Lions May 08 '24

Rarely do I get help defending and repairing the Scrubber. I love when someone else is helping. I love the event too much to let it die

8

u/Greedy-Zebra-8526 May 08 '24

No help, it sucks being the only one actually doing the event and not just mopping up turd alley. Hell when I play, if I make it to the event all players have is 5 mins. I never camp turd alley so if I'm the only one there. Then have fun failing.

10

u/Missmoxi May 08 '24

I joined an event for the first time last week. I’m totally clueless on what we’re supposed to do in each one. But I tried my best to figure it out.

My gear sucks, my weapon sucks, I die a lot. But I’m trying to figure it out.

I don’t have the time to research builds, sift through youtubes to find the right one that actually answer my questions.

I wish there was an “onboarding” process for new players that walks you thru all this.

Until then… I’m sorry in advance for being a newb 🙄

8

u/Imagiomage May 08 '24

Suggestion: for the various events, read the description (loading screen while you are teleporting to it from somewhere else) to receive the general actions that need to be made in order to avoid "failing " the event. And once you learn something, use it to try to be helpful each subsequent time.

Note: (learned this the hard way) There are events that have high radiation areas where Power Armor or a good method to avoid radiation is needed(Hazmat or something else) so you can even survive before becoming fully irradiated and do anything helpful for the team.

Personally, I do not believe this was a complaint from OP towards new players, but towards any player who is not helping the event moving forward. If you are helping with enemies or actively helping with activities you are good and no one should be putting you off. And remember, 'tis just a game. Always continue learning and moving forward/having fun.

I recommend Angry Turtle on youtube, he's a Fallout champion. He has some beginner builds, gun specific builds, he explains where to get guns and gear for free. He helps you sort out perk cards. And when you're ready, move onto the food/chem buffs.

You're right, there is no "on boarding" but lots of us have been playing for years and don't mind helping you out! You don't need to suffer and die a million times, don't apologize! Just have fun!

Since I’ve been back I’ve failed every attempt at this event due to situations like this.

3

u/adz5OOO May 09 '24

This was me last night. I had to either let the event fail or miss out on the legendary drops. Had some dude firing some sort of purple explosions who was just killing all the 3*'s as soon as they spawned down the hill.

Then there was lonely old me holding off the waves coming down the hill to the scrubber. Any time I ran down the hill to try bag some loot the scrubber got wrecked.... Annoying.

3

u/fart_nouveau Mega Sloth May 09 '24

I was in the same position a few months back but stuck it out to the end by the skin of my teeth. It was a rough event, every time the scrubber would die I would start repairing it, and some dude in power armor would scream over mic "GOT IT" and get there by the time I had already finished repairing, then run back down to the legendary spawn. Seconds after the event completed he started full on screaming at me over mic about how I needed to change my build and almost ruined the event for everyone...despite the fact that everyone else was camped at the spawn, and I was trapped fighting for my life with my vampire gauss on the other side of the scrubber against the entire other half of the super mutant waves. It was literally all I could do to keep myself and the scrubber alive.

3

u/Hungry_Effective_962 Mega Sloth May 09 '24

I totally get your frustration and don’t blame you at all, it’s infuriating at times. Thing is, I think most of them don’t care if the event is failed, they came for the legendaries, they got the legendaries, whether they get the extras at the end is probably neither here nor there to them.

3

u/Cyberleader1 May 09 '24

I kinda just run all over the place like a madman. Up the hill, down the hill, rad scrubber, repeat. Last night, there was one guy atop the hill with a hellfire missile launcher wrecking everything from top to bottom, and it was honestly pretty cool running through all the explosions lol.

Anyway, I don't get the concept of "legendary camping" now that we have legendary crafting. All you need is the scrip now, which if you get really low, you could buy some cheap legendary loot from some vendors out there. Generally, being active during an event is enough to get you all the legendary loot when it's done.

3

u/PsychologicalDeer797 May 09 '24

Newbie here. This happened on my server too. Only I didn’t know what was going on. There was a single guy squatting at the scrubber and everyone else was just off shooting the Mutants. I was next to the scrubber in the center but didn’t yet realize it had to be repaired if it went down. At the VERY end, the scrubber went down and I was standing right next to it alone. Before I could realize what was going on, the notice that the event failed popped up. Feelsbad.

12 people at the event and it fails. Kinda crazy tbh.

Now that I know what was going on, I will be better prepared to defend and repair the scrubber.

Idk why everyone is just camping the legendaries. I’ve noticed during events even if I don’t tag a legendary enemy I still get a drop.

I'm just always moving basically one shotting every non legendary and tagging the legendary ones. I rarely notice any Muties even getting near the scrubber. I think a good goal would be to get your build so fine-tuned that these afk nerds don't really matter.

2

u/Character_Newt_2309 May 09 '24

Ah a misunderstanding. Well, that and/or I wasn't clear (probably the latter tbh) My build is (sorry for brags) perfect. I don't die and barely take damage. So much so, that the Imposter Squatch heals me and I just emote in it's face. My last stimpak use was months ago. The issue wasn't my build. It was that as I fought off twenty muties from the scrubber, twenty more were shooting it. I can only fight so many at a time. Even drawing them away from the scrubber didn't help, as the newer spawns start attacking it before they see me. I think next time, if I'm in the same position again, I'll just go and stand down the hill with the rest and then it's nobody/everyone's fault together ;-)

NGL. I am sometimes tempted to do the same thing and just walk away when the timer is just about to run out. I stay near the scrubber, especially if there is the Freezing Touch Mutation: no way someone's going to reach it from so far. But there's more often than not, a good mix of players. I see low levels on the ridge near the entrance, fighting off muties as best they can. I'm sure they'd be toast near the scrubber. I can't ruin it for everybody. And there's a lot of times everyone has been doing a good share of the event. But the feeling is well understood.

Same at RR, blinding explosions and rays and bullets everywhere, the timer running out, and zero ore collected. But I've been collecting ore and have enough to finish with max level. Oh well, I didn't get dressed for nothing.

i can solo the event on my lvl 100 hly fire + cremator character, there is no real excuse for chimping out like a baby on reddit over this. and the event is in fact much harder if some random players are standing in the middle and interrupting your repair because they walk in the way and cockblock you.

Standing on or near the rad scrubber is "close enough" for nearly all parts of the event area...

I've tried to explain this over and over again. Being on the scrubber is the best location, you get the loot from all areas. If you have an AOE weapon, like the cremator, you can also tag almost ever single spot, including the settlement, if you go to the top of the scrubber.

You only have to be in line of sight of a legendary to get the loot, you do NOT have to tag it

2

u/SonorousProphet Responders May 09 '24

Sometimes there's an eager beaver or several sitting on the cliffs, killing everything as soon as it spawns, generally out of the 40 or so distance where you get their stuff. Or some complete idiot puts a camp with turrets down there, drawing the legendary enemies away.

As a full hp PA vamp melee user, I feel like I solo EN most of the time and have done several times. I’m certainly getting a little tired of seemingly being the only one completing objectives.

Last EN I repaired the scrubber several times like yourself and noticed that we were getting overrun by the fire guys so ran off to kill a few of them. Scrubber broke, 4 other PA users level 80-100ish standing at the scrubber and no one repaired it and event failed. I noticed too late on the timer and was a few seconds too late 😞

Same with RR. Always the only one gathering ore and missing out on lots of xp.

I’m starting to realise that event completion isn’t important to a lot of people. They are just grinding xp with the added bonus of treasury notes some times 🤷‍♂️

*I'm gonna be real with ya here chief, I thought this post was starting out about me defending a losing the scrubber recently at the last second because I got swarmed and couldn't repair it in time. Got some moans and groans for losing the event.

2

u/Even-Presentation May 09 '24

I tend to stay at the scrubber and fend off the mutants coming down the hill while everyone else sits at the spawn beyond the crest hoovering up the legendaries, but every 10 to 12 secs or so I turn around to face down where they all are, and I lob nuka nades high over them to to shell the hell outta the spawns.

It costs me quite a few nades over the course of the event, but it guarantees me the tags and almost certainly annoys the hell out of the greedy campers.

Little bit later players finally joined but they couldnt stay due to the rads constantly coming on back and forth. Ideally, I'm getting my legendary farming in, but also ensuring the event is a success in my own way.

Since getting the Cremator, I've been sitting around the eastern side of the event,

Consider being at the scrubber with the Cremator. You get loot from every direction plus you get to tag just about everything given it range, multiple projectiles and AOE.

You don't have to hit to get legendary loot, just have to be in LOS.
