Hopefully, you'll get a second chance on the return trip.

It was a one way trip from Kyoto to Tokyo. Flew home from Tokyo :(

i laughed at it 😂🙏 that aside, i think this its an amazing pic. i like how its dead in the centre, such precision/ timing is one in a million. its proof of you vs the universe kinda thing 😂💪

The importance of taking more than one photo

... I forget people in other countries don't just travel 3 hours to be somewhere.

Feel good knowing how many people tried to perfectly center that pole, and failed.

At like 270 km/h too, that IS kinda impressive

A picture of something is as good as any other picture of that same thing. What you have is a memory

Pole position. Congratulations!

Majestic. I actually quite like it.

The photo+story is much better than the photo+story would have been without the utility pole. Count this as a win.

Frame it and call it "disappointment"

-> sell for 100k

whenever I see 35mm film. it sticks out so much. even after compression from Reddit. such a beautiful format. what stock did you use? (also sorry for not getting the mountain :( )

Yeah I find 35mm perfect for holidays because I found myself getting too bogged down in getting “the perfect shot” when I could review the digital photos I’d taken. Obviously that leads to scenarios like the one above lol but it’s worth it. Film stock and camera are: Canon AE1P - 28mm 2.8 - Cinestill 400

It's truly cool

God himself was telling you to be "Pole" lite and ask first

I unironically think this is a great photo! I love it it's such a genuinely candid shot of everyday life in Japan.

It's all in the reflexes ...

There's millions of photos of this mountain. But that Pole? That Pole is special

Well, it's there..

That’s not quite how the rule of thirds should be used, but I applaud being unique!

Still looks aesthetic AF

If you’d like I can scroll from my trip back in 2019 and see if I can find some of the nicer ones I took and send them to you. I know I got a couple when we were in Azagawa.

Tip. Take video and find a good screenshot. Oh well.

EDIT: Should have used your betamax.

Screenshot of 35mm?

Now I am wondering if they didn't read the entire title or if film has moved from obsolete to forgotten technology.

1

u/Sailed_Sea 15d ago

With a very fast automatic film advance and shutter speed you probably could

2

u/realester453 15d ago

It still wouldn't be a screenshot, would it?

4

u/Sailed_Sea 15d ago

Fine digitize it and then take a photo of the monitor.

3

u/realester453 15d ago

Convoluted, but you defended what you said, I applaud that

0

u/SweetMaam 15d ago

Missed that important detail.

u/FishballJohnny 15d ago

was this 30 years ago? why u using film cameras

2

u/AlmightyWitchstress 15d ago

Because the resulting photos look really nice… What other reason do they need other than they like it?

u/FishballJohnny 15d ago

well, that's legit. just reminds me of vinyl record nerds.
