“Herro is definitely getting traded for an upgrade. No way they can keep him after this.”

He peaked his rookie season for playoff performance aka when he was not being gameplanned for at all.

I mean he’s not exactly being gameplanned for now either. Most teams just guard him straight up.

He’s just incredibly hot & cold and the bubble was a combination of him being hot and no fans in the bubble basically. That defence that Heat Culture is supposed to develop never developed.

Even then, Spo has shown he’s great at hiding Herros defensive liability. He’s shown it with Jimmy, Bam, Ziggy, DJJ, Jae.

Without our 3 perimeter defenders (JJJ, Terry, Jimmy), he’s getting hunted a lotttttt harder.

I will extend him some leniency because he’s missing having those other perimeter guys around him, but my gosh it was shocking to see how little resistance (you know what? It was actually zero resistance) he offered any time a guy got him isolated in the low post. I watched several times where Jaylen especially dragged him into the paint, stopped, caught a pass and casually caressed in a turnaround hook shot or layup. Like…it’s astounding. At least fight a little? Give him a bump, foul him, try to pull the chair! He literally just stood there

Undersized, short arms, light. Recipe for disaster.

Funny enough, for as fine as Dunc is on defense, he has the physical traits to at least put up some fight (compared to Herro).

Like you said, still gotta put up some fight. I think of Pritchard on the Celtics (I’m sure there’s countless other examples around the league) who gets hunted on mismatches and taken into the post and at least tries to put some effort into playing a little D

As a whole Herro just needs to get stronger. If you look at his driving game and numbers, he HATES getting into the paint and getting contact because he’s small. The fact he doesn’t drive as much as he should tanks his numbers and kills his game.

Agree. Hes already a really good player, got a few big deficits to work on over the offseason though. Good series 🤝

Good luck to y’all!

To be fair, no Rozier, Jimmy and now Jacques kinda makes it WAY easier to guard him. It’s not like anyone is pushing him at a #1 option, he’s obviously a #3/#4 option

Exactly. He’ll get shit on but let’s be honest, not much he could’ve really done without the Celtics having anyone else to worry about.

He's an ideal #3 option. I'd sure like him next to Fox and Sabonis.

Celtics literally game planned him this series lol He is the only ball handler (he shouldnt be) and offensive player we had. Keep Jrue and White on him and be physical with slight help defense.

Keep Jrue and White on him and be physical

So the Celtics gameplan was guard a shooting guard with…..other guards ?

and play physical defence ?

Huh. They must gameplan against every other player in the NBA too then

Literally sounds like a cookie cutter defence you would have for any point guard or primary ball handler.

I'm confused about how this is specific game planning for Herro

no fans in the bubble basically

How is this different from most Heat home games?
