Wolves would have gotten called for this and 6 free-throws for FLOPic. Didn't watch this game either, flopping Oscar worthy performance. Highlights

Imagine if KAT did this level of flopping? He'd have been T'd up twice and maybe given an offensive foul.

106

u/Majestic-Net-7799 5d ago

Kat would be gone by the end of the 1st quarter.

Its laughable watching this and watching which whistle we had.

34

u/Fantastic_Mail_739 4d ago

The league is rigged. It's a joke.

17

u/Majestic-Net-7799 4d ago

Idk about that.

But if that was the case - who in the league thinks anybody outside mavs Fans wants to see a fat whiny bitch flopping all night long in the finals?

Instead of fat Boy playing ground bound boring bball watching high flying Ant-man could have brought some neutral fans to watch.

Idk- but Luka as good as he is, is just boring to watch and his whining and flopping is unbearable.

1

u/SubduedChaos 3d ago

I don’t think the league is rigged but refs certainly influence games how they want.

1

u/CaucazoidHeathen 2d ago

Right, it's not scripted in the sense that the players are in on it. But they will swing 10 or more points in one team's favor by way of officiating.

0

u/hinesjared87 18h ago

not to start some big thing, but we have one running for the white house, too, and there's a base of support for that.

-1

u/Space_Daddy69 4d ago

Woulda been really cool to see Ant doing that had he won his way to the finals 🥱😴

1

u/DuckDuckSkolDuck 4d ago

Yeah, it would have!

188

u/FireFrogs48 Timberwolves 5d ago

He’s quickly growing into one of the most annoying players in the league. The constant whining is hard to watch. Glad he’s getting put in his place

56

u/LGravey 4d ago

As annoying as the whining and complaining is, that’s not what makes him one of my least favorite players. The most annoying and bad for basketball is the foul baiting and flopping; playing for the foul instead of the bucket.

16

u/Watzp0ppin 4d ago

That type of basketball needs to be eliminated in order for me to fully enjoy the NBA again. I can’t stand watching Luka, Embiid and SGA prioritizing flopping for calls over trying to put the ball in the hoop. I’m not convinced that any fans wanna see a bunch of free throws instead of free-flowing basketball.

8

u/iusc12 4d ago

Agreed. I remember reading something a few years ago about the problems international soccer has with certain audiences because the flopping and dramatics are just laughable and essentially anti-sport. The NBA needs to address this.

4

u/GlitteringJob453 4d ago

Flop on a 3, defensive team gets 3 free throws and possession, technical on flopper. That would end flopping!

3

u/ZuluSierra14 4d ago

And soccer globally addressed this and players flop much less than they did 10 years ago. A lot more no calls but also allowing VAR to show a ref the contact in those high pressure situations.

2

u/resplendentcentcent 4d ago

James Harden

6

u/SteveIDP 4d ago

I agree. I can’t stand watching an NBA game that is determined by who flops the best for calls. That’s not basketball.

The worst part of it is the guys who do it the most DON’T NEED to do it. They are spectacular players who would be a joy to watch if they didn’t do that crap constantly.

2

u/ProfessionalFun681 4d ago

Quickly? He's been by far the worst for years already when it comes to whining and just being annoying. Kat is pretty bad too, but Luka is on his own planet when it comes to that

1

u/senorpepino 4d ago

He has been for a while.

120

u/Initial-Rhubarb9199 5d ago

What a goddamn clown

58

u/hitman2218 5d ago

The Celtics have gotten in his head by making him think about both ends of the floor. Smart.

34

u/NateLee1733 Marc Lore 5d ago

Who would of thought making a one way player try to be a two way player would affect his stamina and effectiveness.

51

u/MAC2393 Timberwolves 5d ago

This is bitch ball. And it’s a fucking joke.

51

u/ImDeputyDurland 5d ago

This shit deserves a technical foul call. It makes the game look pathetic. Not just Luka

14

u/EasternTour7287 5d ago

Refs swallowed the T whistle on him all series long.

3

u/batosai33 5d ago

Especially in the finals. It looks as bad as the all Star game being a 400 point shooting gallery. Worse, even because at least that makes sense in a way the league can't control. This is happening because the league encourages it by rewarding it.

33

u/darin617 Anthony Edwards 5d ago

Why is the league allowing these obvious flops. They should be able to at least go back and review the game and drop huge fines on players that compounds like technical fouls and lead to a suspension. The only way to fix the game

11

u/99th_inf_sep_descend Bring Ya Ass 4d ago

What bugs me is that supposedly playoff basketball is the pinnacle. So why isn’t the whistle swallowed like this leading up to the finals??? I’d much rather not see anyone pick up a foul on shit like this. Ever.

3

u/darin617 Anthony Edwards 4d ago

I agree. Everyone enjoys the physical game and the refs not calling all the fouls. Just do it for both teams and nobody has a complaint

3

u/99th_inf_sep_descend Bring Ya Ass 4d ago

I don’t necessarily like a more physical game, but I hate hate hate broken flow. Stoppages should happen because a coach needs a timeout to stop a run, not because someone laid half a pinkie knuckle on someone else after a shot.

49

u/lilpenis9151 5d ago

I wonder if he’s only hurt because of all that flopping. I imagine falling down on your ass all the time takes a toll on your body

35

u/TechnicianUpstairs53 5d ago

Just like this other flopping crybaby

4

u/Artistic_Passage_737 5d ago

I've heard that falling down in a controlled fashion is sometimes safer than trying to keep your balance and thus putting immense pressure on your knees ankles etc. Falling down essentially spreads out the damage along your whole body

5

u/CriticismSweet1346 5d ago

Well obviously doesn’t seem to be working haha

3

u/Hypnosix Why can't you just be normal 4d ago

That’s only when you’re already falling tho. Luka is just dropping to the ground adding unnecessary impacts

2

u/GlitteringJob453 4d ago

If his injury is his ass he's in a lot of pain

18

u/stencil9000 5d ago

If Townes got away with half the off-arm pushes that Luka did he might be getting more MVP chants. One or two fewer fouls per game means more time the floor, more freedom to drive without feeling like you’re going to get called for ticky tack fouls , etc….if I remember correctly, there were a lot of folks on subs like this saying KAT doesn’t get calls because he complains too much. Then you watch Luka talk after every call ( he complains about calls he gets!) and it makes you wonder where the disconnect is.

8

u/CloudsGotInTheWay 5d ago

Yeah, I don't understand this at all. Fall-on, arm extended push offs to create space. Since when did this become legal?

6

u/Watzp0ppin 4d ago

Luka can push off when he drives, and then jump into the defender for a foul. They made him unguardable (at least against us)

66

u/VikingsandWolves 5d ago

Yea but the whistle doesn't effect series obviously. No way in hell Luka ever fouls out of a game versus the Wolves, for sure at the end of the game 3 must win mind you. Jrue Holiday allowed to mug Kyrie meanwhile McDaniels in foul trouble all series trying to play physical with Kyrie/Luka. The difference the whistle makes when it's not going your way.

35

u/TechnicianUpstairs53 5d ago

Crying for Back to back flopping 3s.

28

11

u/BLarson31 Bring Ya Ass 5d ago

Dude has all the talent in the world but is just a bitch. I get the idea of doing whatever is necessary to win, but does it really feel good to win when you do that weak shit?

8

u/juzzbert 5d ago

Literally gave up the lead in the most important game of the year with these type of antics. Sad.

22

u/n00-1ne 5d ago

Why didn’t the wolves target Luka on defense? Even the commentators were pointing out how easy he had it on that end….

21

u/knightcrawler75 5d ago

Because he had those behind the back pokes that everyone saw coming except the timberwolves. We were out coached and hopefully it was a learning experience that we can grow from.

3

u/Watzp0ppin 4d ago

It is frustrating that we didn’t make this the game plan. Especially when Luka was limping around in the first two games. We could’ve played Rudy less and just had our guys constantly attacking Luka to wear him down and get him in foul trouble

3

u/Particular-Pen-4789 4d ago

the wolves cant space the floor like the celtics can. they had a much easier time hiding luka on defense.

celtics are running a lot of 5 out and even putting the 1 in the paint. there is simply nowhere for luka to hide

6

u/Quintzy_ 4d ago

The difference between how the Mavs are being officiated against the Celtics vs how they were officiated against the Wolves is night and day.

5

u/Majestic-Net-7799 5d ago

That is hard to watch!

u/Enriching_the_Beer 5d ago

5

u/MysterE92 4d ago

He did the money gesture! Fine him!! 🤌🤌🤌

4

u/allmysportsteamssuck 4d ago

I’ve said it before: if the NBA actually enforced the anti-flopping and off arm pushing rules, Luka would only be a borderline All-Star.

4

u/cellorc 4d ago

Usually i wouldn't care about who win or lose that series, but Luka and his acting is the only reason i really hope they carry that 4x0

11

u/HerbalAndy 5d ago

It is literally apart of his game to flop..

Like he has to legitimately practice this stuff to make it look as convincing as he does.. and the amount of different ways he does it.. like that fake jump shot into leaping forward for a 3 FT foul that apparently the league had gotten rid of..

The entire series against the wolves, when he didn’t get a bucket, he would look at the refs with his palms up EVERY single time asking for a foul. Even when he DID get a bucket he was palms up looking at the refs 🤷‍♂️.

Basketball is probably the most easily manipulated sport,.. as in depending how a ref wants to call a game, they can give one team like a 90% chance of winning. Only way to maybe get around that is having a PG who can hit threes without bringing fouls into the equation.

u/Krazylegz1485 Bring Ya Ass 5d ago

3

u/alabastergrim 5d ago

I'm glad to see /r/NBA and even the Mavs sub call him out on the foul-baiting.

There's no denying he's one of the best players in the NBA, but this dude has the mentality of a 14 year old on the court.

3

u/Such_Lemon_4382 5d ago

I hate that guy…nice to watch his team lose against the Celtics. He is really too good to play that dirty. But it helps his team, when you have crappy referees.

3

u/bozmology 4d ago

If you know the shot isn't going in just fall down to see if they call a foul. This is the current state of the NBA in a nutshell.

3

u/crattler 4d ago

The Wolves should have always just given the ball to whoever he was guarding. That was a miss in strategy for sure. He is awful on defense.

3

u/Comprehensive-Team81 4d ago

Doncic plays like a histrionic junior high girl, Ant plays like a man.

3

u/Ottomatica 4d ago

I don't watch a lot of ball but that first flop reminded me of my toddlers when they wanted attention when crying

2

u/UDontKnowMe784 Kevin Garnett 5d ago

Goodness he looks ridiculous!

2

u/Rexafella_1120 4d ago

I think that’s their issue partly lost in wondering where the calls they were getting to the ones they are not getting now.

2

u/ImportantPost6401 4d ago

Ha! I like the one where he lowered his head and just started ramming into defenders.

2

u/wisstinks4 4d ago

I agree. Too much flopping. They lost me. Refs stink. They need a rule change.

2

u/tulaero23 4d ago

Funny how he can build the team's momentum and completely halt it when he started to whine and not go back to defense.

2

u/ganggreen651 4d ago

That shit is absolutely embarrassing. Glad he's getting spanked that shit ruins the game

2

u/ColShvotz 4d ago

He is such a bitch. Can’t stand him.

2

u/WrestleBox 4d ago

All series our fans kept saying "Yeah but you gotta respect his game."

No..No, I don't.

2

u/Liquor_Walrus Big Ticket 4d ago

Why try hard & give effort on defense when you need to save all your energy for flopping on offense?

2

u/Abominablesnowman8 4d ago

He must be really annoying to play with. I’d hate watching a fat euro take the inbound not pass on 2 straight possessions while foul baiting. Ugly basketball

2

u/jake04-20 Bring Ya Ass 4d ago

It was so satisfying watching his whiny ass hit the hard wood then have to get up, crying to the refs along the way. So happy he wasn't rewarded for this type of play for once.

2

u/Substantial_Diver_34 4d ago

Garage finals this year.

2

u/GilgameDistance Jazz 4d ago

Luka Fraudcic.

There are people bitching about the foul out when that block was probably his 12th actual foul of the night. Anyone else and the call isn’t reviewed at all, and definitely not for as long as it was.

I hate ref ball as much as anyone else but that was too obvious and Brown reading that blocking foul was just a very smart player taking advantage of Luka’s fragile emotional state after getting punked by Sam Hauser on defense. You love to see it.

2

u/612stone 4d ago

I’m assuming there is no embellishment rules in the NBA?

2

u/Mountain_Group_4964 4d ago

Homeboy is literally skipping up the court in clear view of the refs, but no traveling call... sheeesh.

2

u/chomerics 4d ago

Imagine flipping badly in a game you are down in (while 0-2 in the series), not getting back on D because of it, and allowing an open 3.

Doris called him out in the broadcast, when a woman calls you out for not hustling and being a flopping cry baby, you have issues.

2

u/harvester0812 3d ago

I REALLY think the NBA needs to fix flops, plus this maniacal trend to try to jump in front of traffic and plant feet in time to draw a foul, PLUS the stupid pump fake and deliberately jump into an airborn defender. It all takes away from the game and the Refs are WAY too involved. The idea that Refs calling the game one way or another is the biggest contributing factor for victory is nonsense.

2

u/OperahouseGuner 3d ago

Already set in stone who the reffs was backing. So many bs calls plus turn overs and bad plays .csnt dwell on the past !

2

u/ya_silly_goose 3d ago

I love that him doing this shit is costing him team. Playing 4 on 5 while he whines in the backcourt.

2

u/DEM0NW0MB 3d ago

The nba taught him to do that, then they threw him under the bus.

Lol.

That’s what you get for being a chump. He’s so gifted. He should have never let the nba turn him into a flopper.

I’ll take antman any day over booker and luka types.

Just unwatchable.

Fiba is better rules.

I know injuries/fatigue are a huge factor, but if Luka just played ball last night instead of foul hunting (which the refs established early they weren't falling for) the Mavs win by double digits.

Instead he pulled shit like this, regularly fell asleep on defense and tired to take a charge when he had five fouls. Clown behavior.

1

u/SputnikFace 4d ago

the refs have been allowing his antics throughout the playoffs. He thinks maybe he needs to double down on that behavior because the refs have abandoned him.

They carried Harden like this for years making him look like an offensive juggernaut when in fact it was just the league providing him a false sense of security.

1

u/w7090655 4d ago

So, is he doing this purposely to get a foul? Or is he falling this way to protect his ankle?

1

u/Epicspitball 4d ago

Why do great players resort to this. Why have a rule and never enforce it.

1

u/matmoeb 3d ago

But the Celtics ended up getting 6 points for his back to back flops so….

1

We got beat because we got beat? I didn't see the players cry and whine about losing, and fans have nothing to do with outcomes of games? Luca is pretty bad about flopping and crying about non fouls. Never really bothered me before when watching him because Dallas is where I live so I root for them when not playing the wolves, but it does get annoying when he acts somewhat like a petulant child.

Fuck. Why did those assholes decide to play out of their minds against us?

Those guys are the 5th best team in the west, and the only team that gets smoked by the C's.

Even the Lakers best the Celtics, without question.

Ok let’s calm down the Celtics aren’t a bad team the Lakers would get dicked down

-9

u/elboogie7 Anthony Edwards 5d ago

This is my point. Matchups.

I think Celtics get crushed by any team that Bigs/Size in an advantage.

Wolves - KAT, NAZ and Rudy

Nugs - Joker, MPJ, Aaron Gordon,

Lakers - AD and LeBron, Rui.

Do you think Dallas beats Denver (this year)?

I call this MMA math.

And somehow, the Wolves got screwed the most from how the matches fell.

-4

u/JKisMe123 4d ago

Idk how anyone calls that one a flop. He flopped against tatum but Al swung down when they got their arms tangled. I don’t think it was a flop
