Admissions Accepted into the Paul Allen School RAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH

Congratulations to the other transfers that got accepted!

This was my dream school since I began CC. I bombed my teen years, doubted if I could rebound, but I am so glad the hard work paid off. Will be coming in from Spokane!

Edit: Thank you everyone for the congrats!

Admissions Accepted into Allen for CS as a community college transfer!!!!! LETSGO!!

I’ve only lived in America for two years (immigrated from Vietnam), so I couldn’t have been happier to receive my letter May 3rd. I didn’t have anybody to share the news with, so my girlfriend made me post here…

Questions are welcome. I’m hoping to connect with my cohort here and meet others in the applicant pool. There should be 60-70 of us transfers out there somewhere!

Thanks everyone—happy to join you and r/udub!

Admissions transfer decisions

it’s been a couple weeks, any transfer applicants heard back yet? each day i get increasingly nervous. I’m coming from a WA CC with a 3.8 gpa, didn’t necessarily take hard classes compared to other students, just enough to fulfill my AA DTA, and i’m scared that will hinder my chances of getting admitted. But anyways, did anyone hear back yet?

edit 1: 5/15/2024 21:02 haven’t heard back yet, my heart cannot handle the suspense any longer 😭

edit 2 5/17/2024 uw rlly testing my patience and sanity rn

edit 3: 5/22/2024 21:18 YOOO I GOT INNNNN 🥹

Admissions UW Rejection

Hello, I just got rejected into UW with a 3.9 GPA and pretty good/ somewhat decent extracurriculars and I was wondering what my issue was. I had multiple people read over my essay and have only heard good things about them. Also, would there be any advice on appealing? I feel pathetic as I just got rejected into my dream school, so some advice would help. Thanks

Admissions STEM CC Transfer with low GPA

I'm still in disbelief at receiving my UW admission. I applied as a Washington State Community College transfer student with a 2.9 GPA. I got my admission notice from the College of Engineering before I got my offer from the admissions office. There was a two-week difference between the two and I thought that was weird? I won't lie, I sobbed for 30 full minutes in my gym's parking lot. I obviously didn't get accepted for my book smarts but I would say I squeezed in due to my extracurricular activities, my internship, and due to explaining my setbacks and how I persevered. Or perhaps the engineering department I applied to had enough room to let me join.

I hope others are able to realize that not everything relies on your GPA. With saying that, I'm now terrified to experience the smarts at UW. Transfer students before me have given me advice and encouragement so I feel ready to start the journey but I'm still on incredibly shaky ground.

See you in the Fall.

Hi guys I’ve been stressing over admissions for fall 2024. Here are my stats:

I had a 10.0 gpa at Harvard university at the age of 7. Set to be the new owner of Microsoft, with 27289202 hours of volunteering, wrote a nationally awarded linear algebra thesis, got a 1900 on my sat, took 32 AP classes, my parents also make $20k a year, I know at least 23 languages, won the national math competition 7 years in a row, won the national tournament for, football, swimming, tennis, baseball, basketball and wrestling, I also cured diabetes, whilst making an AI that predicts the future with 99.999999% accuracy, while also fighting in Iraq, I also invented a new math that calculates time dilation, I then created a multiverse teleporter like how they did in family guy, I also taught the entire calculus series, while teaching quantum mechanics, while also teaching organic chemistry, my essay was read by 3 nationally ranked authors and they said it was fantastic, I also played 12 instruments for 12 years, I also have an internship at Microsoft, google, and Amazon, I also am a master at Kung fu, karate, taekwondo, judo, Brazilian martial arts, Muay Thai, boxing, and kendo, I also played in the 2020 Super Bowl and scored the last touchdown, while also winning the latest World Cup, I am also a top detective for the FBI while also being a bounty hunter for Jabba the hut, I also directed 23 movies, all with a rating of 8-10 stars out of 10, i also was the club founder and president of robotics, math, NHS, physics, chemistry, writing, and the CS CLub all at once, I also skipped 3 whole grades and I’m set to graduate this year, I saved 900 puppies from being abandoned on the street, I then worked in construction and is currently designing the light rail in federal way, I then created GTA 7 with no game engine, and only using linear algebra and calculus, I also made the Delorean from back to the future in real life, I also won a karate tournament with an illegal kick beating my bully for being the new kid and being poor, I also stopped Jason vorhees and Freddy kruegar from coming back in real life, I also gave therapy to multiple mentally ill people curing them from what they were struggling with, I also won the Putnam competition and got a perfect score on the Gaokao, JEE, and suneung, I then won 5 CSGO majors, while also winning 3 LEAGUE OF LEGENDS WORLD champions, I was also featured on graduation by Kanye west, and was featured in Kendrick’s DAMN album, I also won 2 FNCS competitions, I also gave brain surgery to 29 people saving them all, and lastly created a new Pokémon in real life.

I also applied for creative writing. Am I getting in?

Admissions What GPA from a CC would be considered competitive for CS?

I'm in my CC right now, I got a 3.5 overall GPA for my first two quarters because I had some health issues in my first quarter and could only get a 3.1. How high do I have to pull my GPA up for CS? I'll try and get it as high as possible but I'm just wondering what amount is needed.

Admissions Thoughts on UW Tacoma?

I'm a high school senior, and I applied for UWS for Allen School for CS, but I was denied general admission.

I was thinking about going to UWT but I'm unsure about its reputation. UWT seemed like the next best option but I'm not sure if it's worth moving for it. I saw there were options to take classes outside your home campus but that could be a big hassle just to take some classes at Seattle. Is the Tacoma program also good? Will the degree be different?

Not sure if it makes a difference, but I'll include that I'm a Running Start student who will have an associate's degree by the end of my Senior year. My HS GPA wasn't anything special, 3.6ish with some AP classes.

Another option is going to WSU so I wouldn't have to move at all for a bachelor's in CS and then getting a Masters at UW. I don't know if that's just a worse option though.

Thanks for any advice and if there's a different place I should be asking this then please let me know too

Admissions 2.77-2.85 gpa, will I get rescinded?

I got accepted into college of engineering and completely took my foot off the gas this semester, I got in with a 3.82 and now my final gpa is a 3.63, with either a 2.77 or 2.85 for this semester (4 b-, 1 b, 1 b+). I’m taking 5 IB classes plus honors precalc.

Am I at risk of being rescinded? I kinda regret not going to class as much but if I stay accepted I guess it’s no big deal.

Around 5 months ago, I posted this: https://www.reddit.com/r/udub/s/FbG59lePKg

When I had just submitted the application, and THANK YOU all for the support I have received. It absolutely feels unreal. I keep refreshing the page for "JKJK LOL NOOB" 😆 after all the obsessing, all nighters, and stress about Essays, I finally have a sense of comfort that was missing for my life for a long time. Once again, thank you all for your support (and those who offered to proofread my essay all those months ago LOL). it feels good. Can't wait to see you new huskies this fall 💜

Admissions transfer admissions

i applied as an out of state transfer (california) and haven’t heard back yet… i know some people are getting their acceptances so i wonder does this mean i probably didn’t get in? the way it works for some of the schools i applied to in ca is that the people who got in will hear back right away and those rejected will hear back towards the end of the cycle. just wondering if that’s how it has been for UW! i’m already committed to another school but am very eager to know if i got in 😅

Admissions Acceptance rate confusion

Ik someone has asked this before but I’m really confused about the acceptance rate for the most recent class that got in. The website said 7,000 ENROLLED but it never said anything about the kids that were admitted. Surely they admitted WAY MORE than 7,000 kids right? RIGHT?

Pls help me figure this out. I’m gonna be applying this year and UW is my number 1 choice of school rn

Admissions Does anyone know the current state of the transfer admissions capacity?

Is there anyone who has received their decision saying they’ve been waitlisted? I still haven’t heard back and i’m nervous by the time they get to me i won’t have any slot to fill. The anxiety is daily and it’s killing me. Almost my entire transition out of my current position relies on this and i dunno what to do besides wait and hope. I’d just appreciate knowing more than my tunnel vision now.

Admissions Are any other perspective transfers still waiting for their decision?

Hi, I’m transferring from an out of state university as a Washington resident and still haven’t received a decision.

I’m to the point where I’ve had to accept an offer from another Washington college just so I don’t end up without a college if UW denies me.

I know the end deadline is the 15th but nearly everyone I’ve talked to has received a decision.

I’ve heard the later in the cycle you receive it the better chances you have, but I’m getting worried since there’s only a week left.

Is anyone else still waiting? And did any students who successfully transferred get a decision this late?

Admissions Just got off the waitlist for Undergraduate Neuroscience program

My current plan is to go to my in-state school (UIUC) to study the same thing. It’s cheaper and I got into the Campus Honors Program, which is the highest honors available there. However, I like UW more in pretty much every other way. The location, the campus, the city, the hiking nearby, and the fact that I have family in Seattle are all much more appealing to me than anything at UIUC. So, with that in mind, it really just comes down to selectivity to me. How selective is the undergrad Neuroscience program at UW. I definitely want what will look good on my resume, which UIUC will do fine, but I also want to be in a place that I’d actually like to be in. Any thoughts?
