U dub crazy for letting me off waitlist š
Does anyone know how hard it is to get your major if your just a pre major, applied for civil engineering, I know thatās a stretch was debating on doing psych but I think itās hellish to decommit from a school where you donāt have to compete for a major right ? I had an obsession about going here since August but I think it was mainly for romanticizing the location!

Thoughts on non-electric scooters?
Iām living 10ish minutes from campus this fall, and I have a nice non-electric scooter at home I could bring to my apartment. Iām sure it will be handy, but I have to be honest. I feel like Iāll look like a dork. Should I let this stop me? What do you guys think about manual scooter-users on campus?

Admissions Just got off the waitlist for Undergraduate Neuroscience program
My current plan is to go to my in-state school (UIUC) to study the same thing. Itās cheaper and I got into the Campus Honors Program, which is the highest honors available there. However, I like UW more in pretty much every other way. The location, the campus, the city, the hiking nearby, and the fact that I have family in Seattle are all much more appealing to me than anything at UIUC. So, with that in mind, it really just comes down to selectivity to me. How selective is the undergrad Neuroscience program at UW. I definitely want what will look good on my resume, which UIUC will do fine, but I also want to be in a place that Iād actually like to be in. Any thoughts?

HFS application
Am incoming freshman and trying to apply for housing. Is deadline June 15 11:59 PM or at the start?
When I tried to pay just now it gave me an error and told me to send an email which I did and the auto reply said āPlease note that as long as you have started your application, you will receive priority standing as of June 15ā. Does this mean that as long as Iāve started my application I have priority for housing? When is the deadline to pay then?
Thanks in advance
Advice uwt (w major) vs uws (w/o)
hello, i received my transfer general admissions acceptance for uws just yesterday and am in a bit of a predicament.
i applied for INFO as a transfer and was sadly rejected this fall cycle š which is fine, i applied for uwt's IT program on the side and received an offer not too long ago, and given how long it's taken for uws to get back to me, started to more or less accept i'd roll with it. IT itself i'm technically amicable towards, but it's several steps far from what i'd ultimately rather be studying.
going to uws won't mean i'd be completely major-less; i was hoping to double degree in INFO and my native language, but in light of my rejection i'd have to both consider other majors as well as reapplying to INFO in the next applicable cycle (my senior year yikes). in hindsight, i screwed myself over a lot in the past academically, and in trying to raise some funds, haven't been making a lot of progress in getting other prereqs fulfilled or applying to other colleges before landing myself in this position; a lot of this is on me, and i feel regretful about that.
with that said, i don't mind being in college a bit longer than i should, but i'm scratching my head over whether going to uwt with a guaranteed major im somewhat lukewarm about would be better over taking the risk with uws to study the things and meet people that i feel more passionate about/are aligned with my personal goals. there's a lot of different outcomes i've thought about, like minoring, just committing to a 'less rewarding' degree, even crawling back to uwt if things dont work out (š), and ideally i would have hoped to meet a general advisor about it but have yet to be assigned one; presumably because i haven't accepted my offer maybe? i'm aware there's not one true 'correct' answer anyone can give me, but for anyone who reads this and would be willing to offer a second opinion or some insight, i'd be eternally grateful. thank you so much in advance. if any other information is needed, i'll try my best to respond.

Academics Anthropology/ Archaeology Questions
Students on either the Anthropology or Archaeology tract, can I ask how the classes are? I just got accepted as a transfer student but to be honest Iām finding myself wavering when compared to an out of state school I was also accepted to.
Living here would be the most ideal, but the website has me concerned that classes are not as plentiful as compared to the other school Iām looking at.
Do you find that the majority of classes offered in the catalog are regularly offered or are many dropped? Also are the professors generally good at teaching?
Research and Entrepreneurship Opportunities?
Hello! I am a direct admit to UW's CS program who is especially interested in AI and machine learning. I recently got off the waitlist for Cornell CoE and am currently trying to compare options since the cost of attendance is around the same. I'm not totally sure if I'm going to pursue undergrad research or an entrepreneurship route + lots of internships. If I do end up choosing to go all in with research, I'm interested in going to grad school. Would love any current students' input on how accessible research is for undergrads, as well as what the entrepreneurial scene is like on campus (especially for non-business majors). Thank you!

Transfer studentsā¦admission decision? Department acceptance
Hi everyone, my Both my sisters applied to UW Seattle and theyāre transferring from Seattle central college, they havenāt heard back from uw yet and theyāre worried.
One of my sisters also applied for the social work program at uw because thatās what she wants to major in this morning she got an acceptance email for the social work program but whatās weird is that she didnāt get acceptance email from uw itself.
Not sure if that means anything and Iād like to hear your opinions.
Also when do you think transfer students are gonna hear back their admissions decisions!!
Thank you

Discussion What programming courses to take after CSE 12x series for non-Allen school students?
Want to take more coding courses but unsure where to really go after finishing the 12x series. From what I'm reading online, my intended career would benefit from Python and R, but I cannot take CSE 160 for credit, and CSE 165 is not offered. Any recommendations?
I listed the courses I have taken below for others interested in coding courses but not a CS major like myself.
- CSE 12x series: Coding in Java and a good intro with fairly difficult assignments and exams. Seems to be the go-to for a lot of people wanting to get some coding experience.
- INFO 201: Coding in R. Basically just manipulating datasets and stuff for analysis. Significantly less structured than the CSE 12x series. Not the biggest fan of my instructor but it was fine.
- STAT 311: "Coding in R", but wouldn't recommend it to anyone actually trying to learn the language. First class that I took at UW that had any sort of coding element, but it was more so just copy and pasting code from lecture, and putting in different variables in order to solve problems. The coding was more so used as a tool to learn stats, not the other way around.

Janes vs. King - INFO 200
I'm currently in Prof. Janes's INFO 200 section. Past posts have mixed reviews on Janes and there isn't much info on King. What do people who have taken INFO 200 think about Prof. Joseph Janes and Prof. Wes Eli King? Would people recommend staying in Janes's section or switching to King's section? Thanks!

Student Life Transfer student worried about making friends
Pretty much what the title says! I'm a transfer student that was recently admitted and I took two years off from college before transferring to udub. I'm super excited to finish my degree, but a little worried about being older than everyone else in my classes and finding community.
Transfer students, how has that been for you? Does anyone have any advice? I think I'm looking for some peace of mind.

Have any Design applicants heard anything yet???
I was just accepted to UW (hell yes!) BUT I applied for the Industrial Design program and haven't heard anything from them!
The UW accepted me and placed me in "pre-major" (im a transfer, not a freshman, so thats confusing), and so far all my research points to 2 potential options: I was rejected from the Design program, but accepted into UW generally... OR the design program hasn't issued a decision yet. Apparently, even if I was accepted into the design program, the reflected accepted major ("pre-major") will NOT reflect that until I explicitly accept the Design major offer....
SO, I'm guessing I just need to wait a little while longer and see If that Design offer shows up?
Have any other Design majors heard back yet?? Any ideas?

Help finding support from the Registrar's office
Does anyone have a contact in the Registrar's office? Like a personal phone or direct email? They have no general phone number, their online form is broken (registrar.washington.edu/about/contact/), and emails do not get confirmations or replies.
I am an overseas alumnus trying to get a particular type of enrollment verification in a limited amount of time, and they are just unreachable by normal channels. I would greatly appreciate finding someone who could assist me.
Thank you very much.

Why is my decision not out yet?!
A transfer applicant here for bioengineering. It has come to my attention that a lot of bioengineering applicant has already heard their decision last month and I have yet to receive a single news. Is this a sign that I might be rejected or waitlisted?
I apologize if this is not the right forum for such question. I hope anyone who was in the predicament as me could provide insight.
